Nice trek in the forest. Beautyful view on the village and the Mont Blanc. From Nancroix, cross the brook by the bridge (pont romane) and follow the forest road to the right until top. Halflway up, take the road to the right and in 100 meters you arrive in "Les Esserts". To "Les Bauches" just follow the main forest road to the top.

A superb route over the mountain pastures of Bellentre, Champagny and Peisey. The Bellecôte massif, its glaciers and all its torrents! First day, from Nancroix (1 450 m ): direction Bauches, then Pramain (1 833 m) then the Tchiaupe pass (2 492 m). Go back down to Champagny and sleep at the refuge du bois de Champagny le haut (1 476 m) Second day: go up to the Plaisance refuge (2 150 m), then over the Plan Sery pass (2 609 m) and down to the Entre le lac refuge (2 144 m) Good walkers who are not afraid of going off the beaten track will be able to avoid descending to the bottom of the valley of Champagny le haut. At the level of the Tchiaupe stables (2,303 m), follow the contour line (trail) until the climb to the Frête passage (2,500 m), then the descent into the Froide Fontaine valley, then the ascent to the Golet de la Vallaisonnay (2,796 m). We descend along the Vallaisonnay stream to the refuge: freedom in an extraordinary glacial landscape. Third day: return via the Plan Sery pass (2,653 m) and via the Entre-le-lac refuge to Rosuel and then Nancroix. Difficulties: difficult because it is long. Well-marked paths. Loop that can be done in the other direction!

Nice walk from the village of Nancroix with an old lead and silver mine, a natural building and a hamlet along the way. From the Romano bridge in Nancroix, head towards the Pont Baudin centre, passing behind the Lanchettes campsite. You will arrive at the Biathlon shooting range of the cross-country skiing area. Then take the Allee de Mélèze in the direction of the Palais de la Mine. Visit the whole area with the numerous explanatory panels. Then take the direction of the ice waterfall which is on the left of the mine palace. You will be able to admire this natural edifice, and to finish, join the hamlet of Lanches which will bring you back to the starting point.

At the fork in the road, turn left (continue along the upward sloping pastoral track) on the right bank of the torrent, in the forest of grand bois. Cross the Thovex clearing to reach the Bauches plateau. Cross the bridge (if you have time you can make the detour up the torrent: hamlets of Praz Premier and Pramain, typical wooden chalets. Easy) Follow the small road down to the right, until the very panoramic clearing of Esselet. Follow the road for a few hundred metres northwards and take the right-hand return path down towards Les Esserts. On leaving the hamlet, cross the bridge. - return to Nancroix quietly by the pastoral track or - immediately after the bridge take the path downstream on the left which follows the torrent Nant Bénin and takes you back to the GR5 near Moulin. Return to Nancroix up the Ponthurin. Difficulties: pastoral track for three quarters of the way.

A great walk between the hamlet, the chapels and the Rosuel valley. This walk allows you to discover the gateway to the Vanoise National Park and thus have one of the most panoramic views of the valley. From the hamlet of the chapel of La Chenarie, follow the direction of the Pont Baudin centre with its cross-country skiing area. From this point follow the direction of Les Lanches and Beaupraz, then follow the Bettières to reach the refuge de Rosuel which will show you the plan of l'Épinerie which is the furthest point for hiking in winter. The return journey is either by the same path or you can go to the left of the gully to reach the Pont Baudin centre, which allows you to reach La Chenarie.

A lot of climbing, a clear view, a magnificent little lake. Long hike, with a beautiful lake and an amazing summit that opens the view on the whole valley of Peisey, the Mont Blanc massif, the Beaufortin. Some climbing passages. From Les Bauches (1,770 m). Take the small road in the direction of Pramain (or Pramain). Go up the valley to the start of a chairlift (2 286 m). Here you leave the axis of the valley to go left on the path to Lac de Friolin (2,491 m). From here the path gets a little lost. Join the ridge upstream by heading south to the point at 2,739 m. Be careful: the ridge is extremely loose. Constantly falling down. Do not approach the edge. We return due north to the summit of the Pointe de Friolin (2,678 m). From there we reach the Croix Bozon (2,250 m) as best we can in the boulders. We descend to the left of the Croix to reach the Bauches. Difficulties: difficult, long, climbing sections, a path not always marked out, no water, flocks of sheep, areas of rockfall: the Pointe de Friolin must be earned! But the lake is so unexpected and the view so beautiful that it is well worth it.

Join Notre Dame des Vernettes from La Chenarie on this magnificent walk. The start is at the Chapelle de la Chenarie, then follow the footpath upwards with the indication N.D des Vernettes on the yellow signs.

Refreshment throughout the peaks " From the bus stop, continue along the paved road, cross the bridge and take the road on the left in the direction of the hamlet of La Chenarie. Cross the hamlet and take the vehicle track on the right which enters the forest. Follow it to the 1st hairpin bend and take the trail in the direction of ""Pracompuet”. Cross the hamlet and take the trail in the direction of “Les Vernettes”. Once back on a vehicle track, follow it to the Notre-Dame des Vernettes sanctuary. After visiting the sanctuary, turn back and join the trail in the direction of the “Source Miraculeuse”. Follow the trail that crosses the thalweg descending from the Aiguille Grive and enter the forest. Climb 150 m and take the trail that leads to the right. Follow “La Chénarie”. Once back on a vehicle track, follow it for 150 m, then take the trail that gœs right, still in the direction of ""La Chenarie"". This trail takes you back to the departure path at the hamlet. "

This Chapel, built in 1661, is dedicated to Sainte Marguerite. In the older times, there was a mass every springtime and automn when the hamlet was occupied by shepards. Chapel dedicated to Saint Marguerite. The chapel is opened during the high season. Waiting for restoration, it retains a particular charm with its chancel (painted wooden grid) pale blue, its tufa bell tower, its door open on the setting sun.

Chapel dedicated to Saint Marie-Madeleine, whom the existence dates of at least 1663. Restored by the School of Fine Arts by order of the city hall of Peisey, the parish and the association of the Vernettes friends: The outside in 2007. The inside in 2009. It found its original appearance which it had probably in the 17th century, when it was endowed. You will find archives and explanations photos about its history and its renovation there. The hamlet of Pracompuet is unique for welcoming the goats of André Trésallet during the summer grazing period. This small dairy herd grazes on the pastures of this well exposed slope and effectively fights against the invasion of scrub on the meadows. This traditional pastoralism differs markedly from the recent changes in the production of Beaufort whereby herds are grouped together and pastoral practices are intensified.

(Represented on the picture of the choir) The chapel has a beautiful wooden swiss pine grate, a simple altarpiece with a picture in the center of which thrones a black Madonna with Child, which came from the sanctuary of Oropa in Piedmont, where inhabitants of Peisey worked as cloth merchants. On the picture we also see Saint Jacques the major with one shell on his shoulder, the pilgrim whose burial place is at Compostelle. You will notice the beautiful lock of the old door, the water font in the window, the small bell tower with its arrow of tuff.

The early coralroot (Corallorhiza trifida) is a discrete coralroot orchid that you may be lucky to come across if you are on the lookout as it measures only 6 to 10 cm in height. At 2,145 m in altitude, on the shores of Lac de la Plagne, an old sheep pen, owned by the town of Landry, was renovated as a refuge in 1980. Since then, the shepherd who farms the alpine pastures still stops there, but it is also guarded throughout the summer period, providing overnight and catering services for about 40 guests. Thanks to the two dairy cows on site, the refuge caretakers offer fresh dairy products daily.
