Then there's a lovely, very gradual climb that takes you into the very special world of the mid-mountains, with their beautiful forests and large pastoral openings: you've entered the land of Tamié cheese, recognizable by its beige, slightly creamy paste with a firmer center: a stop at the Abbey where it's made by the monks is a must! Once over the Col de Tamié, a fairly technical descent awaits you back down to the valley: a short detour to the Grignon leisure park will provide you with a well-deserved cool-down after all your hard work!

Let us connect the city with the mountain thanks to this path which leaves from Albertville and leads you up to the villages of Beaufortain, on foot, on horseback or in MOUNTAIN BIKE until Beaufort to Hauteluce.

From the Olympic city to the gateway to the Maurienne valley, a well-balanced route combining valley and climb to the first heights of the wild La Lauzière massif. Leave Albertville quickly and drive through the typical hamlets of the Combe de Savoie through the department's renowned orchards. Here grow apples and pears, which you can easily find at one of the local markets or greengrocers. The climb up to Bonvillard will certainly require some effort, but you'll be rewarded with a panoramic view of the Bauges massif and the Montmélian basin a little further on. Then it's a relatively steady descent to the gateway to the Maurienne valley (oh, there's that little climb up to Bonvillaret, but that'll pass on its own!), which you'll quickly leave behind to return to the flatness of the valley and retrace your steps. In the opposite direction, you'll rediscover the hamlets you passed through before, but from a different point of view: did you notice that pretty barn or orchard earlier?

This mythical pass is a great tour for the best cyclis. After 30 km, you arrive in the Méraillet pass and. have a wonderful point of view in the Roselend's hydroelectric dam. The finish is 10 km further away.

This route is a regular stage of the famous Tour de France. Every cyclist wants to add this pass to his hit list. When you're climbing, the landscape is wonderful.

A Rich History Built between the 13th and 16th centuries, the Crest-Cherel Castle originally served to protect Ugine and its surroundings from enemy invasions. Over time, it lost its defensive role, becoming a private residence before later serving as a primary school! But how did this fortified manor become a museum? Until the early 20th century, Ugine was primarily an agricultural community, boasting over 1,300 hectares of forest. In 1984, the municipality restored the castle to preserve its heritage and showcase the traditions of the past. Since then, the castle walls have housed 1,500 objects that bear witness to the lives of Ugine's farmers of yesteryear. The Olympic Park has become a sports and leisure area, with the Halle (skating rink, climbing wall, tennis courts), the stadium, several soccer, baseball and rugby fields, an archery range and a fitness trail. All these facilities were designed with a view to their conversion after the Olympic Games, and the gamble paid off. Today, many visitors, Savoyard locals, amateur sportsmen and women and top-level athletes use these spaces, which are still full of emotion.

The chapel was built in 1627 and dedicated to Saint Bernard de Menthon and Saint Barbara. Gaspard Cornuty, prior curate of Gilly until 1633, is rector of the Aidier village chapel, dedicated to Saint Bernard de Menthon and Saint Barbara, as well as the Saint Michael chapel in the Gilly church. March 7, 1879: André Portier commissioned his heir to repair the chapel floor and install a tin cross. 1973: Restoration of the chapel is undertaken by a committee set up to finance the work. The commune contributed 2,500 francs. The architect Albert Serraz, from Montmélian, was commissioned to carry out a survey of the site.
