You cannot help but smile at the carvings of the young women that adorn the façade of 38 rue St. Laud. Dating back to 1892, when it was a café and concert hall called the 'Alcazar', it is one of the oldest examples of art nouveau in Angers.

The first recorded example of Plantagenet gothic architecture. The cathedral is full of stunning features including its elaborate facade and stone carvings (grimacing faces, monsters and acrobats), and the stained glass window - the oldest of which dates back to 1165 AD.

In the 19th century, during the industrial revolution, bricks and mortar were replaced by concrete as the premier building material. Against this potentially bland construction form, the artist Isidore Odorico sought to bring a decorative style that on the ‘Maison Bleu’ included elaborate mosaics… characteristic of art deco!

This fully-equipped gîte can sleep up to 14 people and boasts a superb 80 m2 living area with views over the countryside. You're guaranteed a moment of relaxation in this home. Arrivals are independent thanks to a key box. Inside, you'll be seduced by the cosy and warm interior, where you'll find an authentic and very comfortable setting. Ground floor: ⁃ A large entrance where you can easily drop off your things and make yourself comfortable. A games area is available for young and old alike (second TV corner, console, table football, indoor games...). ⁃ A large living area comprising a lounge, a living room and a fully equipped kitchen (fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine...). ⁃ A bathroom equipped with a whirlpool shower. ⁃ A first bedroom featuring a quality double bed (160/200). ⁃ A second bedroom with a Tempur bed (160/200) overlooking the garden. ⁃ And finally a third bedroom equipped with a quality double bed (160/200) as well as a sofa bed. 1st floor: ⁃ A large bathroom with bath. ⁃ A large bedroom equipped with two double beds (160/200). ⁃ A second bedroom equipped with two bunk beds (90/200)as well as an extra bed. Each bedroom has storage space. Outside, you will arrive via a charming driveway where a large private car park awaits you to accommodate all your vehicles. There is also a superb terrace, ideal for large meals with family or friends. The terrace gives access to the 3,000m2 garden with its above-ground swimming pool (available in summer), where you can spend some relaxing moments. Outdoor games (pétanque, shuffleboard, etc.) are available to help you make the most of the country air. Please note: ⁃ On site, classic filter coffee maker and Krups coffee machine (a bag of beans will be at your disposal). ⁃ Pellet stove (pellet at your disposal in winter period). ⁃ Household linen provided (tablecloths, tea towels, bath mat). OPTIONAL BED LINEN ⁃ Sheet hire (optional): €30 per double bed, €15 per single bed. -> If you decide to bring your own sheets the beds must obligatorily be made in the manner of the gîte, without oversights, to respect hygiene and new, quality bedding.

This country house is located on a main road with easy access to Sablé-sur-Sarthe (5 minutes), Château-Gontier (20 minutes), Laval (35 minutes), Le Mans and Angers (less than 1 hour). The gîte comprises : Ground floor: 25 m2 open-plan kitchen opening onto a 55 m2 lounge/living room (capacity for 40 people in a festive meal or reception/seminar configuration...), bathroom with shower and washbasin, 2 bedrooms, 1 WC. Upstairs: 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom with shower and single washbasin. The gîte sleeps 8 to 10 people: 1 bedroom for 2 with 1 140 cm bed 1 bedroom for 2 with 1 140 cm bed 1 bedroom for 4 with 4 single beds (90 cm) 1 sofa bed for 2 in the living room You can also book the Annexe (6 extra beds - 2 bedrooms for 2 people + a sofa bed). The capacity of the two gîtes is 15 people.

In a corner of greenery, at the end of the road, a bright, comfortable house decorated in wood, stone and velvety fabrics awaits you. It's the perfect place to recharge your batteries or take a break from work. On the ground floor, there is a large living room, 1 bedroom and a shower room. Upstairs, there is 1 bedroom with a shower room/wc and a study area (with a sofa bed). Marie and Jacques will give you a warm welcome and will be happy to advise you on your outings. You can taste some kefir on arrival and leave with the seeds if you feel like it. This quiet little spot is waiting for you. As soon as spring arrives, it's nice to sit outside under the fir tree, listening to the rooster crow and the bells ringing in the distance in the village. The fields of wheat (this year) are just around the corner, Hiking trails pass close by and Bellebranche wood is just around the corner. The bakery and cake shop in the village of Saint Brice is 850m away. Local produce (fruit/vegetables/meat/cheese, etc.) is available from Alice's 5km away. Between Sablé-sur-Sarthe (10km) and Château-Gontier (22km), you can enjoy the mild climate of the Angevine and visit a number of sites: Solesmes, the Refuge de l'Arche, La Flèche zoo, the Robert Tatin museum and the Saulges Natura 2000 site (hiking, climbing and caves). Château - Gontier has a marina, water sports, swimming pool and historic centre. In Sablé, the baroque arts festival is in full swing in summer. The Sablé - Solesmes golf course is open to beginners and experts alike. By car, easy access from the A11 or by train, TGV line Paris-Nantes with a stop at Sablé sur Sarthe.
