Domaine des Costes Gallines

The Costes Gallines Vineyard is located in the commune of La Cadière d'Azur in the Var, not far from the Mediterranean Sea and the beaches of St Cyr Les Lecques and Bandol. Family-owned estate of 8 hectares.
A bit of history... the estate is in our family since 1890 and transmitted by women who have all been viticultrices for five generations. The 6th generation will follow, as daughters of the current operator study the culture of vines, wine, marketing. Our grandfather has even participated in the development of the BANDOL Appellation at the end of the 1930s.
The climate of our region offers 3000 hours of Sun and 650 mm of water per year. Made from a selection of grape varieties Mourvredre, Grenache and Cinsault, the realization of this AOC has rules very precise, for example, the obligation to "green harvest" (remove part of the clusters at the beginning of the summer so that harvest does not exceed 35 Hl/hectare), no machinery to harvest, but bunches picked by hand, to pick that up grapes walls. The conservation of BANDOL red wine is in oak for 18 months.
The field cultivates its lands in a reasoned manner, it means that he opted for mechanical and non-chemical weed control with however a contribution in natural fertilizer in accordance with the nature that the intoure and its eco-systems. In February at the time of the regrowth of grass, an original experience of weeding is carried out to introducing a flock of sheep which ensures mowing and cleaning of the land.
To ensure the durability of the field, the vines are uprooted and replanted regularly. Always with the grape varieties allowed in the Bandol.
