This easy loop takes you from Laruns to Eaux-Bonnes, passing through the villages of Assouste and Aas, typical of the Ossau valley. The walk offers both beautiful panoramic views and the opportunity to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the 19th century thermal spa era.

A border crossing between the Ossau valley and Spain, the Col du Pourtalet is reached by a fairly long but never steep route, crossing a wide variety of landscapes. If, on leaving Laruns, the road boldly defies the Hourat gorges, it then makes a long, easy approach between the Gave and the boxwoods, passing through the Eaux-Chaudes spa and the cheese-salting village of Gabas.

Moving from one valley to the next is today?s program. After a gentle warm-up at the bottom of the valley, you'll make your way up the long, hard climb to the Col de Lansatté. This is where you leave the Vallée d'Ossau for the Vallée d'Aspe, and begin a beautiful descent. No shapé turns here. Only old paths and tracks, shaped by generations of shepherds with their sheep and cows on transhumance. The Chemin des Jauspins, which brings the stage to a close, is sure to make you forget your efforts of the day.

From the thermal baths, continue south to Place Henri IV, then take the stairs on the left, cross the road, and continue through the top of the village on the right, then straight ahead to the start of the path. When you reach the track, turn left in the direction of the climb. Cross the bridge and leave the track about 100m further on, by the path on the right in the bend.
