This hike takes you along the river to the medieval town of Lescar, where you can admire the Pyrenees from the balcony of the ramparts and visit the 12th-century cathedral. The view from the Place Royale in Lescar is a natural incentive to head south, cross the Gave de Pau valley and get closer to the imposing Pyrenean mountain range. The itinerary therefore leaves the town of Pau and crosses the hills of the Jurançon region, finding a secular stopover at Lacommande, before joining the Aspe valley on the side of Oloron-Sainte-Marie.

This is a country walk through the Ousse valley, starting from the small country town "Poey de Lescar". You will walk through the quiet streets of the village and you will take paths along the fields and in the woods, meeting the stream of the Ousse. A walking path is laid out and maintained, allowing you to go around one or both lakes. You will pass under the trees, or under the sun, keeping the gave present at your side on half of the course. With the Gave de Pau as a naturalist's guide, this healthy bike ride connects two towns on the southern edge of the Pau urban area, Laroin and Artiguelouve. No athletic feat is involved, but the pleasure of riding with the family in a safe area, without crossing roads, along the water coming down from the Pyrenees. The path takes advantage of the shade of the alders and poplars, of the freshness of the river Gave which alternates between vigorous straight lines and softer meanders. It is also the occasion to appreciate the ecological richness of the saligues, these flooded and wooded lands of the river bank, endowed with a beautiful density of plants, animals or birds.

A very accessible and safe loop around the small Laroin lake. This walk ends at the Maison des Lacs, bar-restaurant and Iktus fishing center. You can also stay on the path that follows the Gave and has benches.

This loop will take you to the heart of the saligue, which designates the typical vegetation that covers all the wetlands of the Gave de Pau.
