At the Brédenarde counter-fort, you descend towards the Hem valley, where you can admire the Moulin Bleu. The Platier d'Oye National Nature Reserve is a leading bird sanctuary. Every year, thousands of birds stop here to migrate or to breed. A 3 km trail (round trip) allows you to discover the richness of the site, thanks in particular to two ornithological observatories.The wooden walkway (decking) allows you to cover part of the site and reach the top of two blockhouses, offering a breathtaking view of the reserve, the sea and the polder. Located between Calais and Gravelines, the Oye Plage Nature Reserve has been shaped by the sea, sand and wind a few centuries ago. Protected from the action of the waves, the site reaches a maximum altitude of 2 meters (outside the dunes which culminate between 10 and 15 meters) above the sea level. The nature reserve covers 391 hectares This vast polder is the first French stop for birds of passage en route to their winter quarters. Huge and intimate at the same time, this natural area is undoubtedly one of the first ornithological jewels of the Pas-de-Calais. This protected natural area, between land and sea, contains an important biological richness resulting from the interactions between these two elements. The interventions carried out on the site are primarily focused on maintaining this biodiversity, mainly towards plants and birds. For this area, we set up a pasture by different hardy species (Cattle and Pony Highlands, Sheep Shetlands) resistant to the climatic conditions of our latitudes. This allows the maintenance of a mosaic of habitats favorable to the bird species that frequent the reserve. Late season export mowing also plays an important role in maintaining a "poor" soil favorable to a specific and very rare flora. The free evolution of water spaces contributes, through their temporary summer drying, to the development of plant species that depend on these events. It also promotes access to food resources that many birds come to collect by digging the mud.

Sheltered in the powder magazine Arsenal built by Charles V from 1528, the exhibition "Estampes? collection (im) permanent "deploys by rotation 200 prints covering the five centuries of the western history of engraving. The presses, the tools, the demonstrations, the videos make it possible to apprehend an art which remains very close to the crafts. Since 1982, the Gravelines Museum of Original Drawing and Printmaking remains the only museum in France devoted solely to printmaking. Its educational workshops, its library, its artists' residences, its editions, its collection make this museum a place of reference and a place open to all. Each temporary exhibition shows the diversity of the practice of printmaking, its dynamism and its timeliness. The recent techniques of image creation and printing still promise a very bright future for this art that is both intimate and generous.

The region chosen to host the Tourville project obviously had to answer to a historical legitimacy: to correspond to an area where this type of ship could have been built in the 17th century. Under Louis XIV, five large arsenals, Toulon, Rochefort, Brest, Le Havre and Dunkirk were intended for the construction of the kingdom's warships. The coast of Dunkirk, facing England and Holland, occupied a place of strategic importance and was the object of all the attention of Louis XIV who entrusted engineers Vauban and De Combes the task of developing the arsenal of Dunkirk and the fortified places of Gravelines and Bergues.

The belfry tower, 27 meters high, is part of the historic ensemble of northern belfries inscribed in 2005 in addition to the Belgian belfries on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The square brick tower is topped by a lantern which houses the last bell of the city (which does not ring anymore). The austere architecture of the current belfry dates from its reconstruction in 1827, but the belfry exists before 1582. Repeated constantly since the eighteenth century, ruined in 1821, the old tower is deliberately demolished. The architect Gravez is responsible for a no-frills reconstruction. From the old tower it takes the foundations and the silhouette but simplifies the decoration.

Imagine the schooners moored at the harbor, men loading cargo with salt; the fishermen embrace their wives for the last time, then women, children and elders gather on the jetties and wave the handkerchiefs ... It is the effervescence of the great departure. The Museum of the Sea rich in memories, in models of boats and old objects, tells this very particular type of fishing, for which the men left between February and April, to return only in September. Housed in the former fishing school, this museum evokes the maritime history of Grand Fort Philippe and including fishing in Iceland. Old house-shelter of the lifeboat now transformed into a museum.
