The Voie Bleue cycle route leaves Nancy on a beautiful green corridor along the Meurthe and canal. Once back on the Moselle, the cycle route continues towards Charmes in a wild, bucolic setting. Freewheel along the towpath of the Canal des Vosges, crossing the canal bridge at Flavigny-sur-Moselle.

This tourist circuit showcases water through the ages on a tour of Haut-Lay and its history. Lay-Saint-Christophe is nicknamed the village of a thousand fountains. It is also the birthplace of Saint Arnou and his illustrious descendants. Explore the ancient narrow streets to discover a host of fountains and admire the Renaissance (the Samaritaine, the presbytery, the priory whose most famous monk was Dom Calmet, etc.) and Art Nouveau buildings (the house of Antonin Daum). Follow the “madeleine route” (a local speciality) and discover seven iconic signposts, and scan 14 QR codes on the sides of houses to get architectural details.

Located on the site of Pompey’s former factory, this new interactive historical circuit introduces visitors to the world of iron and the furnaces of the steelworks. Through this tour along the banks of the Moselle, inquisitive visitors will discover the history of the iron and steel factory, which closed in 1986 and gave rise to the world’s most famous building: the Eiffel Tower. Explore this walking and cycling path, a bucolic 19.5-km-long stabilised sand route created along a former railway. It begins in Custines at the end of the Rue Claude Le Lorrain cul-de-sac, which has around twenty parking spaces, and currently ends in Nomeny. It runs through the lovely Mauchère valley, which takes its name from the little 8-km-long stream that runs through Custines, Malleloy, Faulx and Montenoy. The rolling countryside offers viewpoints over the orchards, fields, villages and woods. This “Voie Verte” path takes you on a discovery tour of local rural animals, including sheep, cows and horses. In fact, there is a strong probability that you will come across riders on the section that is open to them, near to the Diapason and Paquis stables in Faux.

Le Bois Saint-Ignon: A 6.8 km trail through woods and other areas for exploring, making for a varied itinerary. It is also a smooth and easy circuit for mountain bikes. It is also pleasant for horse riding, but there’s a dangerous crossing of the D907. Cense Saint Paul: 6.5 km trail. On foot, this is a lovely walk with many glimpses of the village of Saizerais and even the Mousson hillock to the north. It is a smooth and easy circuit for mountain bikes, particularly in the anti-clockwise direction, but watch out for the horses that often use sections of the loop. On horseback, it is a rather short circuit, almost half tarmac, and the likelihood of encountering a number of other riders. Connecting trail: Coupled with the Boucle St Ignon and the Boucle de la Cense St Paul to create a longer hike. Exclusively through forests – cool temperatures guaranteed. For mountain bikes, the route is smooth in dry weather but can be extremely muddy after a long period of rainfall. On horseback, it is a pleasant ride by the D90B crossing is dangerous.

The Moselle rises in the Vosges mountains at the Col de Bussang, but is actually the result of the merger of several streams originating in the Vosges mountains. It flows into the Rhine at Koblenz in Germany. Its total length is 560 kilometers, of which 314 kilometers are in France. The Moselle has been used as a waterway since Gallo-Roman times, enabling Roman battles against the Celts and the transport of salt produced in the Seille region. Throughout the Middle Ages, navigation was in full swing. Then, in the 16th and 17th centuries, navigation on the Moselle disappeared. At most, it was used to float timber from the Vosges. Today, the Moselle is a busy commercial river, particularly between Frouard and Luxembourg. Yachting harbors and secondary branches, however, provide shelter from the traffic. On the outskirts of Nancy, the landscape of wooded hills is very pleasant.

Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

Rich in the Gallo-Roman past of Arlon, the museum houses an impressive collection that bears witness to the daily life of this period.One of the peculiarities of the museum is its imposing and rich lapidary collection, composed of several dozen fragments of ancient funerary monuments.These blocks and the objects from Roman craftsmanship will teach you more about daily life at that time.

The Brabois plateau is a relief located mainly within the commune of Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy and Villers-lès-Nancy, in the Meurthe-et-Moselle département, south-west of the Nancy conurbation. With a surface area of around 500 hectares, the plateau is mostly coniferous woodland.

One of the largest in France, Brabois Park offers an exceptional panorama of the entire Nancy area. This former French hunting park is the largest green space in the metropolitan area. At the heart of the Henri Poincaré technology park, its 55 hectares provide an immense sense of freedom. The park's geometric layout is designed to attract the eye and encourage movement. The beautiful beech-lined avenues lead to wild meadows, orchards or vast clearings, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Here, you can walk, cycle or ride. The Nancy Brabois equestrian center adjoins the park, and a trail reserved for riders leads around it. The park's tree-lined borders offer beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, including the Château du Montet and the Jean-Marie Pelt botanical garden. Near the château, the romantic clearing, with its countless spring bulbs, offers a more intimate atmosphere. To the south, an experimental truffle plantation has been set up. On the eastern slope, ornamental plantings recall the species dear to the artists of the École de Nancy: boxwood, ginkgo, tulip trees and larches. To the north, the large meadow is home to a number of attractive wooden huts, with a breathtaking view over Maxéville and Laxou.

Jean-Marie Pelt Botanical Garden ( called before Botanical Garden of Montet or the Jardin Botanique du Montet), is an authentic living museum of plants, gracing the outskirts of the Nancy urban area. Created in 1975, the gardens and conservatory have a dual scientific and cultural mission. Extending over 27 hectares, the garden grows over 12,000 plants from every continent giving visitors an idea of the extraordinary resources of the plant world. A variety of collections allow visitors to familiarise themselves not only with the plants they find in their own gardens, but also with the native species of distant countries. Lose yourself in the 2,500 m2 of tropical greenhouses with their giant water-lilies, orchids, banana, coffee and citrus trees, cacti, etc.  A visit to these lovely gardens fast turns into an exploration of all the wonders it has to offer.  A wide range of activities (botany courses, conferences, tours, exhibitions) are offered as part of the garden’s education mission.

Madame de Graffigny's château is in the heart of the old village. It's a beautiful 18th-century manor house, refurbished in 1865, set in a garden enclosed by high walls (inside, a beautiful listed Ecole de Nancy fireplace). Owned by the town of Villers les Nancy, it is used for receptions and temporary exhibitions (please consult the town's website for opening hours). The garden features two Lebanese cedars planted by Mathieu de Dombasle in the 19th century. At the beginning of September, the park hosts the harvest festival. The château's name recalls its most illustrious owner, Françoise d'Apponcourt, wife of de Graffigny, a woman of letters who maintained an ongoing correspondence with Voltaire and Diderot.

Around 1712, François Huguet de Graffigny built the château and its park, which was cared for by the famous agronomist Charles-Alexandre Mathieu de Domsbale. The financier Elie continued to develop the park. Today, the complex is managed by the town of Villers-lès-Nancy. It hosts events, fairs, meetings and temporary exhibitions (timetables can be consulted on the Villers-lès-Nancy website, depending on the program). The park is open every day and is home to several remarkable tree species, including a cedar of Lebanon, a sequoia, a ginkgo biloba, a medlar tree and a polownia. It is also the setting for monumental works of art, such as the famous Massai giant by sculptor Jean-No.

At the center of a university campus, Remicourt park offers all the charm of an English-style garden playing with natural shapes and volumes. Far from the regularity of French-style parks, the 7.5-hectare Remicourt estate offers a multitude of atmospheres and landforms, inviting you to enjoy a pleasant stroll. Intimate undergrowth is followed by vast grassy terraces, ideal for outdoor games. Parc de Remicourt is home to numerous birds, such as the spotted woodpecker with its astonishing black-and-white plumage, and beautiful horticultural varieties such as the hundred-year-old Atlas cedar, the giant sequoia and the American copalm. Thanks to its geographical location, Remicourt Park is a place where many springs were once tapped. The Metropole du Grand Nancy has taken advantage of work on the streets above the park to capture these springs and recharge two basins. These will ultimately enhance the park's biodiversity.

Opposite the washhouse, the Parc du Tonneau, in the street that gives it its name, was once the pleasure garden of the Georgel estate, a handsome nobleman's residence built at the end of the 18th century. The building has undergone modifications over the decades, but the park has retained its ornamental trees, fruit trees, pond and rockeries, all of which contribute to the charm of this listed wooded area. Bought by the town council, it was opened to the public in 2014 and is part of the Refuges LPO network.

Erected in the heart of Vandoeuvre, the Domaine du Charmois and its three-hectare park are one of the jewels in the town's crown. Surrounded by high walls, the Parc du Charmois is in the tradition of late 19th-century bourgeois parks. The park's "English-style" design, with its winding paths, is intended to create the illusion of wilderness. With its rare tree species, monumental flowerbeds, stream and elegant spillway basin, it's a delightful place to stroll. Declared a free refuge by the French League for the Protection of Birds, it is home to dozens of species, including blackbirds, bullfinches, chaffinches, blue tits, nuthatches, creepers, green woodpeckers and spotted woodpeckers. A small curiosity: an authentic English telephone booth is installed in the park. It was acquired by the City of Vandoeuvre from the former Nancy Telecom Museum, in a nod to its twinning with England. In the middle of the park is the Domaine du Charmois, a former private residence probably built by Désiré Bourgon, a member of the Ecole de Nancy, on the site of an earlier château built in 1725 by Claude Joseph Gilles dit le Provençal (painter to Stanislas) and destroyed in 1895. Today, it is a venue for seminars, conferences, exhibitions, cocktail parties, etc. Next door, the Charmois farmhouse has been converted into a municipal hall.

This street in the Nancy Thermal district, near the Museum of the School of Nancy and the Sainte-Marie Park, was mostly built between 1903 and 1913 and offers a good illustration of the architecture and urban design of the period. Attractive colourful houses featuring the naturalist motifs of the architect and developer César Pain give this street a certain charm. They were intended primarily for middle class people. The work of the architect Emile André can also be seen at house #36, which is reminiscent of his Villa Les Glycines in Saurupt Park.
