This route starts from the parking lot at Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Miramont-de-Guyenne. You can also join the route from Montignac-Toupinerie or Beffery church.

Cross the bastide before reaching the lake of Saut-du-loup and further on, the church with its bell tower and its sundial.

The route is laid out in the valley of the Dourdenne, a tributary of the Dropt river, and links three villages and three churches. Miramont-de-Guyenne, famous for its shoe industry, but also for its rich historical heritage, is one of the most interesting towns in the area. This ancient bastide developed considerably from the 13th century onwards, with a regular grid layout, of which the market hall and the church occupy the centre. Roumagne also has a rich archaeological, prehistoric and ancient heritage, as well as several churches and castles. The one at Frémauret, which is slightly off the route, is an old fortified mill from the 12th century. This circuit, will make you discover the old parish of Saint-Pardoux today connected to its annex Isaac as well as its church of XIIIe dedicated to Pardoux abbot of Guéret in VIIe or in VIIIe century.

An easy loop, which offers beautiful views over the valleys of the Dourdenne, Dropt and the hills of Guyenne and Périgord. (Beware, you will come across local markers).

On this circuit, traced between the village of Saint-Pardoux-Isaac and the bastide of Miramont-de-Guyenne, the traditional paths are still present, despite a strong urban push.

From Saint-Pardoux-Isaac to Saint-Laurent, this route takes place on wide tracks with a gentle relief, but offering beautiful views. Be careful when crossing the D1.

The fortified town of Miramont was built on the banks of the Dourdenne between 1278 and 1286 by Edward I of England. The town was built on the site of a small Templar village and lookout point, which was supposedly destroyed by Simon de Montfort during the Albigensian Crusade. The bastide’s shape is characteristic of those built on a plain: square-shaped with four main streets running from the central square. The town’s structure has not changed over the years, although it is more densely-packed nowadays, and the buildings are still fairly homogenous.

In 1860 a Gothic style church replaced a small Romanesque church. Later it had to be completely restored because of the danger of collapse of its main vaults. In 1967, the municipality decided to equip the building with stained-glass windows. The project was entrusted to a master glass-maker newly initiated to this technique, Louis Francheo, who used the creations of the artist Emile Wachter. The latter chose a limited number of simple and frank colours, in particular the blue known as "de Miramont", which he had melted specially for these stained glass windows in his workshop in Saint Just.
