The Côtes du Marmandais appellation has a particularity of its own: it is shared by the Garonne river and its vineyards stretch over both the right and left bank slopes. Rebuilt in the mid-19th century, this church originally featured little interior decoration. Overlooking the river like a figurehead, the Saint-Léger church in Couthures has suffered countless floods since its construction in 1851. Masutti?s 1942 work has also suffered from its proximity to Dame Garonne. While the wall of the north transept features a relatively intact Annunciation, its south-side counterpart, depicting the Education of Christ, is badly damaged.
