The name of Dax (from Aquae "the waters") evokes the humid environment on which the town was founded. Neo-Byzantine chapel. The Berceau de Saint-Vincent de Paul chapel is part of a vast complex erected in memory of or in connection with the life of Saint Vincent de Paul. Discover also the famous oak tree and the house where Saint Vincent was born. The cradle, internationally renowned, is also the home of all the lay and religious communities that claim to be inspired by the spirit of Saint Vincent.

Visit "Ranquines", St Vincent de Paul's native house, born in 1581 and neo-Byzantine-style chapel. In the garden, admire the 800-year-old oak.

Formerly called the Basta site with its forges and blast furnaces, this place housed an ice production plant to be refreshed in 1908. Gradually, in everyday language, the Basta pond became the icehouse pond. The manufacture of blocks of ice ceased in 1963. In 1925, a sawmill gave work to workers in the district until 1960. Over the years, a large car park, a children's play area, a fishing pontoon accessible to handicapped, petanque grounds, walk between pond and forest, picnic area under the hundred-year-old oaks, and this green setting steeped in history delights young and old in complete safety (no traffic possible near the pond) .

The church of Sainte Eugénie is said to feature pre-Romanesque elements dating from the 11th century. Its 18th-century pulpit and 17th-century ivory crucifix are listed historic monuments.

Important place of pilgrimage since the 12th century, the church had been destroyed by the Protestants on order of Jeanne d'Albret (only remains the statue). The crowning of Notre-Dame de Buglose took place on September 8th, 1866. A remarkable carillon of 60 bells was set up, testimony of the strength of the Marian worship in all the region (for carillon hearings, please contact the Tourist office). In September, 1966, for the centennial of the crowning of Notre-Dame de Buglose, the church was raised to the rank of minor basilica by Pope Paul VI.

The tile warehouse was erected in 1882 by Auguste Gervais Sourgen. He used local mineral resources (clay) to make resin pots. It is closed since 1974.

Located in the heart of the city-centre, the municipal library of Saint-Paul-lès-Dax enjoys privileged access. With a floorspace of nearly 250 m², the municipal library has a large collection of books for adults and youths and provides access to many periodicals.

Located a kilometre away from the present-day spa, the only remnants here are right around the spring itself. But in 1922, the Trou de Madame was a real treatment spa with its own hotel! The buildings were made of stone with tile roofs, and the two-storey hotel offered 10 guest rooms upstairs. Around the baths, there were a changing room, a bathtub, showers and an equipment room housing the water pump and boiler which raised the water’s temperature from 30 to 37°C. The spring was long utilized by individuals, up until 1963. Since 1998, it has been the property of the present-day spa. At a temperature of roughly 30°C, it is a cool mineral water spring. People continue to come here to treat skin diseases (like eczema, psoriasis, etc.) or simply for the pleasure of appreciating these relics of the past. As you continue along your way, you will find the original spring, “the eye”.

The first testimonies on the existence of this domain go back up on November 26th, 1815. The house of Metges was cultivated as farm by Mr. François Garcin, innkeeper. The domain of Metges included two farms (Toumalin and the Hotel) besides the house of Metges and extended over a 38 hectare surface. Metge means doctor in Gascon. Thus we can think that formerly it was the residence of a doctor or a care center. In 1951, he was acquired by the City of Saint-Paul-lès-Dax and became the town hall in 1962.
