Time: 2h45 Pedestrian, Mountain bike Road signs: Green signs, White markings Difficulty: ** (medium) Distance: 11 kms Map IGN 1339 and TOP 25 Directions: Depart from the parking lot at Navarrosse harbour D5 (located on the map at J7/8,) the hiking trail sign is located in front of the municipal marina. Depart from the end of the camper parking lot, follow the fence of the Lou Galip 1 camp site. Turn left at the angle of the fence, follow the path until you reach the Roseaux path and proceed to the intersection of the Mayotte 2 path. Turn right and follow the road D 333 for 25 meters, then enter trail on your left and stay on trail for 200 meters. Turn left 3 into wooded area and head towards Frézat. Cross the road 4 and continue on the Frézat path (DFCI 221) until you search the new ditch, cross over the ditch and continue straight. Cross over the commune’s ditch continue until ditch 5, turn left and proceed to the lake. Adjacent to the hunter’s hut , admire the vegetation along the waterfront. The point of view of the marshlands is superb, as well as the reeds (Biscarrosse lake / Cazaux / Sanguinet.) Make a 180° turn and take the first path on your right. Follow the path along the lake for 1,25 km until the new ditch 6. Turn right before the ditch and proceed to the lake (magnificent view of the lake.) Make a 180° turn at the little bridge, take the path on the right alongside the marsh and lake, after having crossed the ditch. Pass between the Mayotte camp site and the camp site harbour and proceed straight until Navarrosse D5 marina. The numbers 1 through 6 are markers on the trail map

Pleasant circuit, you will cross the districts in Chon, Mayotte, le Frézat. The paths are shaded, sandy passages on the edge of the lake, nice viewpoints, flat ground all along the route.

Take the road in front of you, your back towards the lake, then take the first street along the “canalot”. Cross the canal using the ramp. Continue until the lakes road and cross it 1. Take a left onto path that follows the road and cross it 1. Take a left onto path that follows the road for 100 meters and go up the 1-st sandy path on the right. Follow the Pétanque street. At the crossroad 2, take a left onto the limestone path. Pass under the electric lines and continue until the dry lagoon. Take, before the lagoon, the first path on your right. Continue until the Fabre cabin (tree resin tapper’s cabin,) 3. Leave the path on your left and follow the winding course until the electric line follow it on the right for 100 meters. Turn left passing under electric line. Continue on the path (do not take any of the small paths on your right) until Ispe 4. Circuit is winding and shaded. Magnificent view of the bay. Cross the road, turn right and stay on the lake shore heading towards Navarosse. Head alongside the bike path for 300 meters and continue your trail along the beach until canal 5 follow the canal in order to reach the ramp on your left, cross the ramp and continue straight along the “Canalot”, and make an immediate left in the direction of “la Régie” of the harbour D5. Beautiful walk. Numerous viewpoints in particular on the bay of Ispe. Course in undergrowth and on the bank of the North lake (lake of Biscarrosse-Cazaux-Sanguinet). Hut of resin trees. Some passages in the sand.

A 6 km route that runs along part of the Transaquitain Canal. This canal, created in 1834 by bankers from Bordeaux, was dug from the Arcachon Basin to Mimizan. It links the three lakes. Calmness guaranteed!

Sanguinet is located in the heart of the forest on the shores of Lake Sanguinet - Cazaux of 5800 hectares. The lake attracts many fun boarders, kite surfers, water skiers, sailboats ... A nice walk to do on a pleasant route in the forest.

Bisca is 3 lakes... One for swimming and water sports, one for fishing and siesta, one for admiring the fauna and flora... Time: 3h Pedestrian, Mountain bike Road signs: Green signs, White markings Difficulty: *( Easy) Distance: 11 kms Map IGN 1339 and TOP 25 Directions From D7, with City Hall behind you (J 13 on map,) take Jules Ferry Street which is perpendicular to City Hall, head East, at the roundabout go straight. Direct yourself towards the municipal pool, 1 Muletiers Street and make a left at Megnicat Alley. Continue onto Rameaux Alley and continue on the path through under the trees, take camping des Petits Ecureuils 2 direction. Turn right and continue on path until you reach Moulin du Nord 3. Proceed straight on the road until you reach the “En Hill 4” neighborhood, cross bridge that crosses the ditch bearing the same name. Continue down the road towards the Arnaudin neighborhood, and cross the neighborhood. Behind the barn continue straight towards the South using the path until you reach intercommunal bike path “ # 17 marked on 2,5 km. Turn right and stay on bike path until Forestiere Street 6, take the path in front of you that passes under the electric lines. When you reach the houses, take Massenet street, turn left onto Gravieres Alley and right continuing onto Muletiers Street and return to your point of departure using Jules Ferry Street. This walking tour starting from the town of Biscarrosse will take you to the place called Moulin du Nord, to cross then several districts of the city: the district in Hill, the district Arnaudin. The forest of Biscarrosse is also part of your itinerary.

Les moulins « avant » : C'est à l'époque révolutionnaire que la construction des moulins fut envisagée. Avant 1840, on recensait cinq moulins à vent à Biscarrosse. Le Moulin du Nord sur le camin Arriaou (voie romaine) quartier Arnaudin. Le Moulin de GABRIEL près de la craste neuve sur la lande du FREZAT. Le Moulin de GOUBERN devant le Bosque. Le Moulin de MEGNICAT à l'intersection du chemin Arriaou et de la piste 17, rue Forestiere à la Z. I. Le Moulin de la PASTEBUCH à Caillaou au bout de la piste de l'aérodrome. Un sixième moulin existait près de la craste du HOUDIT celui de MAOU(E) : sa maison passait pour être hantée. La loi de 1857 obligea les communes à assainir leurs vacants pour y planter des pins. Les moulins se retrouvèrent très vite entourés de pins formant un véritable écran contre le vent. Trois moulins furent alors reconstruits pour bénéficier des vents d'Ouest ; celui de MOUSSA et le moulin JEANTIC près de la craste de Chécot au bord du lac Sud, enfin le moulin d'ENCHON au bord du lac Nord.

This 13th century castle features a two-storey main building, framed by two towers on the facade. The south tower (on the left from the gate) was originally used as a prison. It was also surrounded by a moat and a surrounding wall. In the 17th century, the mullioned windows of the façade were opened and side buildings were attached to the main body forming with it the entrance courtyard. It was then that Jean de Caupos, who became Viscount of Biscarrosse, renovated the building, giving it the appearance it has today. The 17th and 18th century stone fireplaces have been preserved. A large avenue of poplars offers a view of the lake. Memories of witnesses, now disappeared, evoke a subterranean passage linking the base of the former north-west tower with the wooded dunes beyond the small lake. This castle cannot be visited.

This church from the fourteenth or fifteenth century was built with local Landes stone (Garluche). The three-metre-high curved gate is formed of two fluted columns topped with two arrows. The third bay on the south side aisle was built in 1902. It was restored by the town and the parish community. The church has three naves: the 31-metre main nave and two 14-metre side naves. The cut-panelled choir is shaped like a pentagon. On each panel are five beautiful mullion windows. You can admire pillars, arches, rib vaults and their white keystones, stained glass windows, altars, wood panelling, and ornamentation.

A visit to the Museum of Traditions will allow you to understand the history of Biscarrosse, discover its culture and landscape and the way man has built and maintained it, and find out about the rural and crafts-based activities. The rubber-tapper's cabin will invite you to familiarise yourself with the history and life of tappers. Tools, objects, clothing, furniture, and ancient documents all bear testimony to the past and offer a moment of nostalgia.

The Landes de Gascogne Conservatory is committed to spreading the word about the culture of the Landes de Gascogne. On site, you’ll find a shop selling regional products, including preserved foods, French-made berets, and pine resin jars.

The restaurant is located at the entrance to the Les Ecureuils campsite in Biscarrosse Lac, and remains accessible to the public outside the campsite.
