Continue following the direction of Pioch Badet. 2- At the intersection with the D570, turn left towards Pioch Badet. Continue for approximately 400 m and then take the first road to the right. 3 - At the intersection with the D85A, go to the right, Route de Cacharel, then continue for about 10 km to reach the starting point of the circuit, the Tourist Office of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer .

From the Mediterranean to the Vaccarès pond passing along the Petit-Rhône, this course is a rich summary of Camargue landscapes ! Back to the Tourist Office on Van Gogh Avenue, head right. At the roundabout, take the second exit and cross the village by the Cacharel road. This trail is marked, follow the yellow markings. 1 - Cross the small bridge, then head to the left towards the stadium path. Continue and turn left at the turn that allows to cross the other side, do not take the path where there are rocks. Continue straight on and take the path on the right, parallel to the D570.. Continue straight for about 1.5 km. 2 - At the junction with the D570, cross it and continue straight towards Bas des Launes road. Continue for 1 km. After the small bridge, take the path on the left. Continue for about 800 m. 3 - In the bend, turn right onto the dirt road. Continue this path for more than 1 km to reach Petite route du Bac (D85). Turn right at this intersection. Before the intersection with the D570, join the small path on the left. Continue for 350 m. At the next intersection, continue on the left path for 650 m. 4 - Turn left then 150 m after, continue on the first road on the right and continue for more than 1 km. When the path splits in two, follow the path on the right and leave the farmhouse on the left. 5 - At the intersection with the D38A, turn left and take the path on the right. Continue for 1.5 km. At the intersection of the two paths, turn to the right. At the intersection with the D38B, cross this road and continue on the road. Bypass the Gilbert Arnaud manade on the left. 6 - At the intersection with the road to Bergerie du Roure, turn right and follow the first path on the left. Bypass all buildings and technical constructions by the left. Once you reached the Petit-Rhône dike, take a right and continue along the Petit-Rhône. Leave to the right the Château d'Avignon, les Grandes Cabanes du Vaccarès, le Mas de Ventabren et le Mas d'Alivon. 7 - At the pumping station and overpass, turn right onto the D570, cross it and continue towards Paty de la Trinité. Continue to Mas de Bouvet. 8 - Take the left to follow the path of the Méjanes until the directional sign indicating "Méjanes" and "Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer", follow the direction of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. Then continue on for 11 km.9 - At the intersection with the D85A, turn left towards Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and follow the road on the road side to reach point 1.

After the observatory, continue towards Arles and Salin-de-Giraud. 3 - At the intersection of Villeneuve and the snack bar Les Salicornes, turn right on the C134 "Fiélouse" towards La Capelière. Cycle there for 14.5 km. Go along the pond Pass in front of La Capelière, Mas de Fiélouse, then Salin-de-Badon. 4 - Continue straight towards the dike to the sea. Continue on the trail to the Flamingo Observatory. 5 - At the observatory, turn right and take the dike to the sea towards the Gacholle lighthouse (trail accessible only on foot and by bike). Enter the Camargue National Nature Reserve. Pass the lighthouse and continue. Continue on the dike to the sea until Pertuis de Rousty. At Pertuis, continue straight to the village of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer which is located 6 km from there.

Take the bridge over the Petit-Rhône.3- Then turn right towards S33. Walk 2 km and reach the Astouin hamlet. Leave on the left the Astouin Castle estate. 4 - At the intersection with the D38, go to the right and continue the D38 for more than 3,5 km. 5 - Take the D38A, turn left and continue straight until you reach the D570.6- At the intersection with the D570, turn right and continue for about 4.5 km. 7 - After the Le Boumian hotel, take the small dirt road on the left, parallel to the D570. Lost among the windswept sands, facing the sea, the Espiguette lighthouse has been watching over, dominating and beaconing the dune and shoreline for 150 years. Located in the commune of Le Grau du Roi, in the heart of a remarkable, protected area, the Espiguette lighthouse is a symbol of the richness of the exceptional natural heritage of the Pointe de l'Espiguette, and is an integral part of the dune landscape of the Gard coastline, immovably resisting the assaults of wind, water and sand. Recognizable by its square shape and black color, visible from the sea, the Espiguette lighthouse has been lighting up our coastline and guiding sailors for over 150 years, with its 24-mile (45km) range and its rotating light with 3 white flashes grouped every 15 seconds. Assigned to the Conservatoire du Littoral, the lighthouse was automated in 1980 thanks to its Fresnel lens, which celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2023, and is no longer manned by its keepers. It has been listed as a historical monument since October 9, 2012. The Pointe de l'Espiguette, classified as a Natural Site and Grand Site de France, is a remarkable, protected area, to which access is regulated for its preservation. At the graus level (or passages), communication canals between the sea and the littoral ponds, you will find fish, towards the flooded sansouïre and the ponds or towards the sea. Migrating species include mullet, sea bass, but also sea bream, sole and especially eel. Born in the Sargasso Sea, she joined the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts after a long journey. She comes to grow in the coastal ponds or rivers where she spends several years of her life.

The arenas of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer were inaugurated in 1931 and can accommodate 4,500 people. They are built in hard material and have a circular shape.. Part of the arena collapsed in 1931, and was rebuilt in 1932. In 1985, they were redesigned by the architect André Marchetti. They offer three forms of bull races: the Camargue race, the Spanish race, and the rejón bullfight where the bull is fought by a rider, the rejoneador.

Originally, the race is a taurine game where animals and farmhands fight and play with the bull. Towards the end of the 19th century, this bullfighting game becomes less violent and only the man plays with the bull. We fix the attributes on the horns of the Camargue bull intended to be removed by the raseteurs dressed in white, now only protagonists of the race. A cockade is fixed on the horns of the bull and bonuses are awarded to the one who will pick up the attribute.

Classified Departmental Reserve, Imperial and Malagroy Ponds were acquired by the Departmental Council of Bouches-du-Rhone in 1964 to protect these fragile natural environments (2,770 ha) which are home to many species of birds. The fishing, a traditional activity in Camargue, is practiced in the Imperial reserve in a boat without motor which imposes the use, as formerly, of the "partygue" (pole). Fishermen are looking for shrimps, eels.

The Baroncelli marquis, famous character of Camargue life, gave to his manade the name of Manade Santenco which means, in Provençal, manade of Saintes-Maries. At the death of the marquis, his son-in-law Henri Aubanel then manages the Santenco manade.. On June 15, 1996, the Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer inaugurate the Henri Aubanel bouvau, a circular enclosure where bulls are grouped after selection. At the death of Henri Aubanel, his son Pierre manages the manade that he renames Aubanel Baroncelli Santenco manade.

The creation of the marina, Port Gardian, dates back to the development of tourism in the Camargue in the mid-twentieth century. Built in June 1984, it has managed to keep its family atmosphere and its human dimension. This harbour has 380 rings. The village church, located not far from the port, 200 m from the wharves, is used as bitter, a landmark fixed and unambiguously identifiable. It guides boaters and fishermen sailing on the Mediterranean Sea.

On the course you will be able to see guardian huts. A traditional Camargue dwelling, the cabin has whitewashed walls and a sagne roof (marsh reeds). The architecture of these cabins is original: straight walls on all sides except the one exposed to the mistral (north-west) which has an apse (rounded in shape) to provide less wind resistance. At the top of this apse, there is usually a cross or a horn that once served to secure the hut to the ground on windy days. The oldest dwellings in the Camargue, which have persisted to this day, are these typical huts, called gardian huts, wrongly because they were used for farmers, shepherds and fishermen alike. Nowadays, they are built for the pleasure of living in a house of tradition.

The painter and sculptor Hermann Paul conceives the Camargue Cross in 1926 following the request of Marquis Baroncelli, « inventor » of the Camargue. It associates the guardians and the fishermen and symbolizes three virtues: the Cross for Faith, the Anchor for Hope and the Heart for Charity. The guardians and the Camargue soul are represented by the tridents. The original cross was made in wrought iron by Joseph Barbanson and inaugurated on July 7, 1926.
