For a walk an hour without effort in the summer heat, forward for the shaded path of Rousserolles: the view of Lake Pointe du Gaouléou worth the trip! Surveying the shaded path maritime pine, common oak and holm oaks is found to be the most pleasant in the summer heat, no need to brush your little cream, here they risk nothing! Even under the sun, seeing the tip of Gaouléou is almost essential, it is one of the few places that make you enjoy a 360 degree view of the lake. Enriching its reading table presenting the flora and fauna of the lake is undeniable. Point is also the support of a reed, a lakeside zone that must whet your curiosity because it is home to many species of fish, dragonflies and songbirds: a bird family composed blackbirds, sparrows, larks ... With luck you will come across the warbler warbler, a small bird that spins amid the reeds...

The "sentier des chevreuils sportifs" is the largest pedestrian loop in Piqueyrot. Marked out in red, this circuit is an extension of the loops of La Lobélie and Les Rousserolles. The Natural Reserve of Dunes and Marsh of Hourtin is an area of 2150 ha, which presents all the scenery of the Aquitaine sandy coast: beaches, dunes, forest of pines and oaks, swamps and lake! The management of this area is entrusted to the National Forestry whose personal undertake surveillance, scientific monitoring and public reception. You can discover this site from various hiking trails, horseback or bicycle (departures at Contaut, Piqueyrot and Hourtin beach). Note the Education Trail Lagoon Contaut where the visitor crosses the marsh on a beautiful wooden platform (accessible platform motor and visual disabilities). The church of Ste Hélène d'Hourtin was built in 1868 as a successor to the old church of Ste Hélène de l'Etang near Carcans, then to the first church on the market square of Hourtin. The friezes, restored in the 1990s, decorate the choir's colonnade in modern tones.
