Welcome to the Loop of the Verrone at Marsalès. Small village close to the bastide of Monpazier, this 10.5km hike will take you to the heart of the bucolic landscapes of the Bergerac region

This walk allows you to discover the bastide of Monpazier and to learn about its special architecture. The structured plan of the bastide is organized by different types of roads, including the carreyrous, small lanes that cut through the blocks of houses, which you will follow. You will pass in turn on the square central place, provided with a market hall, (ordering element of the plan), the place of Cornières which was the place of exchange, trade, justice. You can observe 23 houses with open porticoes, built from the 13th to the 17th century, which formed front stores. The church of St Dominique is a sober building, as is customary in the churches of the bastides. You will pass by the washhouse, protected by a canopy, supplied by a spring and the fountain of the loves, a small building surmounted by a tympanum.

Welcome to the Peyregude hiking loop, in the commune of Lavalade. This loop around Lavalade will make you pass by the village of Saint Romain de Monpazier where you will be able to see its church whose construction goes back to the XIIth and XIIIth centuries and to pass by the place Peyregude and its Cromlech (megalithic stone). Welcome to the Windmill Loop of Monpazier. Classified as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", the Bastide of Monpazier is considered as the most typical example of the bastides of the South-West. It remains the best preserved in the Périgord. This loop will take you from Monpazier to the beautiful countryside around the bastide.

Monpazier is a fortified town founded in 1284, under the reign of the King of England, Duke of Aquitaine Edward I. Eight centuries after its creation, its initial plan has been preserved despite the horrors of the Hundred Years War, famine and epidemics. This rectangular plan developed around the Place des Cornières, surrounded by houses built between the 13th and 17th centuries. With its galleries with Gothic arcades, the square still has its old market hall. This fortified town was surrounded by ramparts and was entered through 8 guarded gates. Only 3 gates still exist today. Inside the bastides, the inhabitants were free. Thus, girls could marry whoever they wanted without asking the lord. Boys did not need a dowry to enter the orders. To settle in the bastide, one had to be able to pay a tax.
