Belves gives to discover many vestiges of a tumultuous past, troglodytic dwellings, towers and bell towers of the medieval period, mansions and private hotels, an old market hall. From Belvès, the relief deepens, the forest occupies the first part of the itinerary, then the views gradually open out over the Dordogne valley, which the path overlooks. A few kilometers after Belvès, you will cross the very pretty village of St Germain de Belvès then you will arrive at Cladech, end of this stage.

35 km south-west of Sarlat, Belvès is one of the most beautiful villages in France and the Black Perigord. At the top of a hill, the 11th century castrum is still very visible today with a town gate, the Auditeur tower (former keep) and the bell-tower-porch (15th century). The archbishop of Bordeaux was the temporal lord of the place for more than 500 years. The history is however eventful, between France and England, plague epidemics, .. The heritage of Belvès is important: troglodytic dwellings occupied from the 13th to the 18th centuries, the Château de Belvès (16th century), the church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption or Notre-Dame de Montcuq (13th century), the 15th-century market hall enlarged in the 16th century, a neo-gothic-style house built in 1882, the Consuls' house and the Tour des Filhols (11th century) in which the tourist office is located today.

The first Romanesque church dates back to 1143. It was given in 1199 to the Abbey of Sauve Majeure in the Gironde, by the Bishop of Périgueux. It was destroyed during the 100 years war. Only a few large stones remain at the base of the present church. The Gothic church was burnt down by the Protestants of Turenne. It was repaired at the beginning of the 17th century. It has four chapels paid for by the four co-lords of Siorac who were to serve as their tomb. Until 1900, a cemetery surrounded the church.
