



35 km south-west of Sarlat, Belvès is one of the most beautiful villages in France and the Black Perigord. At the top of a hill, the 11th century castrum is still very visible today with a town gate, the Auditeur tower (former keep) and the bell-tower-porch (15th century). The heritage of Belvès is important: troglodytic dwellings occupied from the 13th to the 18th centuries, the Château de Belvès (16th century), the church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption or Notre-Dame de Montcuq (13th century), the 15th-century market hall enlarged in the 16th century, a neo-gothic-style house built in 1882, the Consuls' house and the Tour des Filhols (11th century) in which the tourist office is located today.
