The protected ornithological reserve of Lac de La Prade, 5 km from Bazas, is home to exceptional flora and fauna. Set amidst rolling hills, the immense reservoir provides a peaceful setting for birdwatching. A large colony of grey herons makes its home here, alongside pairs of great crested grebes. The lake's slopes are also one of Gironde's priority sites for dry orchid lawns. Fishing pontoons and picnic tables are available for walkers.

This great southern itinerary passes through the southern Gironde. From the banks of the Canal de Garonne to Castets-et-Castillon, it will also take you to Langon and Sauternes, on the Bordeaux Wine Route in Graves and Sauternes. Next, a change of scenery, as the Ciron valley unfolds to reveal Villandraut and its famous fortress, a legacy of Pope Clement V. You now enter the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park and discover the village of Saint-Symphorien and the Gérard Lagors estate in Hostens. A magnificent walk to the Château de Cadillac-sur-Garonne starting from Castets-et-Castillon. The route follows the Garonne River along the small, undulating roads of the Entre-Deux-Mers region. Along the way, you'll discover the bastide town and château of Cadillac. On the way back, you'll pass two illustrious residences: Domaine de Malagar, the family home of Nobel Prize winner François Mauriac, and Château Toulouse-Lautrec, home of the famous painter of the same name. Don't forget to enjoy the cool waters of the Canal de Garonne on the way back.

Auros is a county town of the Bazadais, that is to say of the old diocese of Bazas, located on a height which dominates the valley of the Garonne to the south, equidistant from the three important cities of Langon, Bazas, La Réole of approximately 10 kilometers The stream of Beuve crosses the town adding its picturesque to the landscapes, by its valley sometimes steep, its role once was considerable because it operated several mills cereal, including two Auros. Monco means "hot mountain" because the place is oriented to the south. The spring is abundant and provides water all year round. It fed one of the main wash houses of the village, which was used for centuries. In ruins, the wash-house was rebuilt identically in 1999.

The 13th century church was rebuilt by the Bordeaux architect Gustave Alaux in neo-gothic style in 1878. It preserves the 13th century dripstone walls that belonged to the former parish church. The church was also the chapel of the castle where the former barons of Auros were buried. In this church you can discover the 18th century wooden stall of the Father Abbot of Rivet.

500 meters from the village of Auros, a 1.5 km path winds through a juniper forest, on a clay-limestone soil exposed to the south. About fifteen species of wild orchids grow on this dry grassland and make the originality of the site. The discovery trail is worth a detour in spring and early summer. A picnic area has been set up at the trailhead.

Château La Peyrère du Tertre offers a reception room overlooking the gardens and cellars. Our 180 m² reception room is housed in the former wine storehouse. Entirely built of exposed stone, it features a large fireplace and 4 arches. A fully equipped kitchen is available for your catering needs. The hall can accommodate up to 120 seated guests and 200 in buffet format. Ideal for weddings, group photos, etc., the park is ideal for a wide range of events A marquee can be set up to increase capacity. There is ample private parking behind the reception hall. A bucolic place to stroll, the lake offers a remarkable setting for the diversity of its flora and fauna. A hiking trail, used by hikers and pilgrims of Compostela, allows you to discover its beauty.

The church dates from the 12th and 19th centuries. Its choir dates from the first Romanesque period, as can be seen outside the apse, held by thick buttresses. The arcaded bell tower, the stair tower and the porch date from the 19th century. A clever restoration since the year 2000 allowed it to obtain the award of the "fleurons du patrimoine" in the 2005 competition.

The foundation of this ancient monastery dates back to Charlemagne .... In 1189, the community was affiliated to the Cîteaux Order by the Abbey of Pontaux. Unfortunately, none of the archives survived the harsh periods of the Hundred Years' War, the Wars of Religion and the Fronde, and finally the Revolution, during which the last monks were forced into exile. In 1938, Cistercian nuns from Blagnac (Haute-Garonne) brought this ancient monastery back to life. Today, the 9th century fortifications partially surround the monastery. The restored church has walls and columns from the 13th century as well as capitals and corbels from the Merovingian period. A store selling local products is open all year round, run by the sisters of the abbey.
