The foundation of this ancient monastery dates back to Charlemagne .... In 1189, the community was affiliated to the Cîteaux Order by the Abbey of Pontaux. Unfortunately, none of the archives survived the harsh periods of the Hundred Years' War, the Wars of Religion and the Fronde, and finally the Revolution, during which the last monks were forced into exile. In 1938, Cistercian nuns from Blagnac (Haute-Garonne) brought this ancient monastery back to life. Today, the 9th century fortifications partially surround the monastery. The restored church has walls and columns from the 13th century as well as capitals and corbels from the Merovingian period.
A store selling local products is open all year round, run by the sisters of the abbey.
