Welcome to the Peyregude hiking loop, in the commune of Lavalade. This loop around Lavalade will make you pass by the village of Saint Romain de Monpazier where you will be able to see its church whose construction goes back to the XIIth and XIIIth centuries and to pass by the place Peyregude and its Cromlech (megalithic stone). In the village of Lavalade, notice the church dedicated to Saint Martin: it dates from the 12th century, but it has undergone many transformations over the years

This walk allows you to discover the bastide of Monpazier and to learn about its special architecture. The structured plan of the bastide is organized by different types of roads, including the carreyrous, small lanes that cut through the blocks of houses, which you will follow. You will pass in turn on the square central place, provided with a market hall, (ordering element of the plan), the place of Cornières which was the place of exchange, trade, justice. You can observe 23 houses with open porticoes, built from the 13th to the 17th century, which formed front stores. The church of St Dominique is a sober building, as is customary in the churches of the bastides. You will pass by the washhouse, protected by a canopy, supplied by a spring and the fountain of the loves, a small building surmounted by a tympanum.

A little away from the charming village of Montferrand-du-Périgord, accessible by a pleasant path, the Romanesque Chapel of Saint-Christophe is a small church that is well worth a visit. It has a bell tower from the 12th century, rebuilt in the 13th and 14th centuries, and a small nave where you can observe a low wall with a fishbone device. The Saint-Christophe Chapel is classified as a Historic Monument. You will particularly notice its paintings, a part of which was unfortunately destroyed after 1847. The oldest date back to the 11th century. They represent the liberation of a prisoner by Saint-Léonard, the Pantocrator surrounded by the Tetramorph and the Annunciation and Saint-Christophe.
