Camping Le Soustran: adventures in Neuvic, Corrèze, Limousin

This 14km400 slightly hilly circuit opens the doors to the remarkable 410 hectare Triouzoune lake. Its privileged location in a preserved natural environment makes it an ideal holiday destination. Halfway along the route, stop at the Puy de Manzagol, a viewpoint overlooking the Triouzoune lake and the Pellachal bridge. Further on, it will be possible to contemplate the Monédières. Then the route offers you a passage over the Triouzoune dam! This is an opportunity for you to admire the remarkable landscape around you before finishing this beautiful escapade... To finish in style, take advantage of your presence to visit the beautiful town of Neuvic, whose fortifications have been partly preserved, notably its 3 towers which dominate the surroundings.

Local memory and exploring the natural landscape will offer you a splendid overview of the history and heritage of Neuvic.Park on the esplanade at Puy Chaffaud.Walk around it by taking the trail overlooking the houses; pass behind the monument to the Resistance. Continue straight on past the fitness trail workshops to return to the starting point. Go down towards the road to St-Angel; set off to the right. At the second crossroads, turn left towards Les Creux.At the top, take the trail to the left; go right at the next crossroads. Cross the road and continue on the track. Stay on this main track, leaving less marked paths to the right and left. You go past a pond; continue.At the T-junction, take the track on the left. At the next crossroads, take the road to the right for 500 m.Follow to the left the path that goes up beneath the woods along a meadow. Follow the track to the right to reach the houses.Cross over and continue on the small road almost opposite. In the bend, take the track straight ahead. At the top of the road, take the path on the right. At the next crossroads with the road, go left. Continue straight ahead to reach Neuvic.Cross the D 982. Take the 1st left (Blvd Pasteur). Turn left to reach the roundabout; continue towards St-Angel on the road that goes up to find the starting point again.

Overlooking Neuvic, take a stroll through the Puy Chaffaud arboretum, where you can learn to distinguish the different species, with your family or on your own. Then stroll through the forests managed by the ONF (Office National des Forêts) and take a break by the Etang de la Vergne. On the way, listen out for the Black Woodpecker and watch for deer and roe deer. This walk will introduce you to the forest, an economic asset of the region, whose beauty changes with the seasons. The circuit is counter-clockwise. Starting point in Neuvic: follow the D171 towards Saint-Angel, continue for 200m, then park on the right at the entrance to the Puy Chaffaud arboretum "

This 58.9 km hilly route invites you to discover the Gorges de la Haute Dordogne, which are of major ecological interest with a variety of remarkable landscapes, in a most surprising natural setting. The route starts in Liginiac, which has an imposing old castle that houses the town hall. On the way to Neuvic, you will discover the Triouzoune lake, a vast water reservoir covering 410 hectares and 7 kilometres long. Another curiosity on your way is the Puy de Manzagol, which elegantly dominates the Triouzoune lake. The surrounding landscape is extremely varied: with woods, moors, meadows and farmland. All of this forms a harmonious and atypical setting. The rest of the route invites you to flirt with the Dordogne for a few kilometres along the water's edge.

Come and discover a historical and economic heritage that stretches from the 12th century to the present day. From the fortified castle to the manor house, the farms, and the lake, everything here tells you about the work of men. The orientation table of Manzagol gives a view of the landscape and its subtle reading. Back in the village, the "rue du tacot", which crosses it, was in the 19th century teeming with activities installed on both sides of the road.

Landscapes (and a big breath of fresh air) distinguish this itinerary between Monts d'Auvergne and a dammed lake.Departing from the old railway station, go up to the town hall. Go down along the edge of the cemetery. Take the road on the left towards the retirement home.Follow the road to the right until you reach Peyroux. Take the road on the left, pass the tower; pass by two roads on your left and find the D183. Turn left onto it for 500 m.Take the path on the left. Cross a road and go straight on. At the crossroads, turn right to rejoin the road. Turn left onto it. When you get to the village of Pisse-Lèbre, go straight on until you reach the Puy de Manzagol.Climb up on the mound for the viewpoint. Continue in the village: take the road to the right then go left then right towards Maury. Go through the campsite towards the tennis court. Then go down to the right towards the lake to find a path that runs along the lake towards the Etang du Maury.Take the road to the left, then the path on the right. Go up to the right and then left where the trees are felled. Go back down to the track and take a left.Take the road to the left and then, at the crossroads, follow the track to the right. At the crossroads, turn left. Go through a village.Take the road to the right and then to the left. Go through La Chastre and continue on the track.Take the road to the right. Go right at the next crossroads. Ignore two roads on your left. At the next crossroads, take the road on the left. Continue straight ahead along the track.At the crossroads, turn right towards Bonnefond. In a bend, take the path on the left that goes back to Liginiac: turn right in front of the retirement home and then left towards the centre of the village.

Located on the edge of the lake of Triouzoune (410 ha) in a natural, calm and restful setting, our campsite extends over 1.2 ha of meadow partly planted with trees. We offer you pitches right on the water for tents, caravans and campervans, but also chalets with covered terraces, mobile homes and freeflower roofed houses. At an altitude of 630 metres, Neuvic is situated on the low plateaux overlooking the Dordogne gorges, in a forest setting, with 2 9-hole courses. The highly technical Grand parcours Milan with its many water hazards and bunkers borders the 410-hectare Triouzoune lake. While the first part of the route leads through coniferous forests with numerous logging areas, this magnificent path leads to a beech forest.Historically, the department of Corrèze was not forested. In 1900, forests in Corrèze occupied only ¼ of the territory. Today, almost half of the department's surface is wooded. The significant abandonment of agriculture has encouraged planting, particularly of softwoods, with a clear predilection for planting Douglas fir. The Antoine Munoz crossroads pays tribute to a former forest ranger.

This hike will offer you a remarkable view of the highest volcano in metropolitan France, the Puy de Sancy. At 1,885 metres above sea level, this summit is the highest point of the Massif Central. The two streams, the Dore and the Dogne, originate there, and their confluence forms the Dordogne.

Gabrielle and Gérard STRUMPLER, with a rich and atypical background, found in Corrèze the place that matched their project: to create a place to live and welcome people, with a farm that would be an educational, therapeutic and integration tool. Since 2012, in this unspoilt area of Raulhac in the Haute-Corrèze region, they have been offering an educational garden for biodiversity, where encounters between generations and agriculture come together, with the essential aim of preserving the fruit heritage of ancestors and sharing the pleasure of eco-responsible gardening. On the farm, they grow and process mainly red fruit, but also fruit trees, vegetables... A diversified, certified organic farm that preserves the natural balance.

Above and beyond the Dordogne, we will see the Monts du Cantal during this hike. This massif is, in fact, the remnant of a stratovolcano born 13 million years ago, the largest in Europe, eroded by collapse and glacial erosion.

Access via the D20, then the D183 between Neuvic and Liginiac. Puy de Manzagol overlooks the Triouzoune lake opposite Neuvic. From the panoramic viewpoint, the view plunges down to the Pellachal bridge, before wandering off to the horizon of the Monédières.

The Puy de Manzagol offers a view over the Monts d'Auvergne and the Triouzoune lake.This is a geological curiosity since it was formed in the Tertiary era at the same time as the Monts du Cantal. Indeed, the formation of Puy Mary caused vibration and, by pressure, basalt would have risen to this weakened place through a crack, creating this "small" puy.

The plot covers an area of 4.5 ha, about 2 km from Neuvic, on the banks of the Triouzoune reservoir. It's a well-shaded plot with a variety of tree species: oaks, beeches, birches and conifers. Neuvic is located in the east of the Montagne Limousine, in the heart of the "Pays Vert", at an altitude of 630 m, surrounded by beautiful forests stretching east to the Monts d'Auvergne and south to the Dordogne valley. Facilities: 3 sanitary buildings (one for babies and one for people with reduced mobility). 3 washing machines and 1 tumble dryer. Volleyball court, basketball post, boulodrome, outdoor ping-pong tables. Base nautique "René Escure": G.C.U. sailing school, 4 training periods in July and August on Optimist, Caravelle, 420, Laser. 1 meeting room, 1 library.
