Massif du Sancy, Château de Val, Lac de Bort, Les Orgues, an itinerary all about exploration...Depart from the Place du Foirail. Go back up to the RD 979. Cross it and go up the few steps.Take the small road that rises above Bort. Pass behind the Virgin’s statue and continue. At the top of a slightly steeper slope, take a trail to the right. You reach the village of La Côte. Go through it. Turn right at the next road junction to join the D979.Follow it on the left for 700 m, leaving, on the right, the road that goes down to Les Aubazines. As you leave of the village of Vioux, turn right onto the path parallel to the B-road which eventually joins it.Cross over and take the small road opposite. After 200 m, turn left onto the rising track. When you arrive at the edge of the forest, take the path on the right and then the path on the left. Continue the ascent straight ahead. At the T-junction, take the path on the left which joins the forest track.Follow it to the left. At the Y-junction, turn left. The track becomes a small tarmac road.At the crossroads, turn right. At the next crossroads, follow Les Orgues. On your right, leave Chaumeil then Le Roussillou.200 m after Le Roussillou, take a path on the left. Go straight ahead when you reach the old barn. The path continues for a long time below the organ pipe rock formations.At the crossroads, turn left. Follow the road on the left for a few metres and find the path on the right which goes down to Bort. Take the D979 to the left to find the starting point again.

This is a hike that gets as close as possible to the Correzian geological curiosity, the organ pipe-shaped rocks at Les Orgues de Bort.The itinerary starts at the Les Orgues car park. At the belvedere, take the path on the left and follow the blue markings in the undergrowth.Where the trail borders a meadow, turn right and continue straight ahead. At the house on the left, enter the woods.At the dry-stone wall, turn right. Go straight ahead towards a ruined barn, continue straight ahead. Go down through the woods, and in the bend, take a right turn. (before turning, a 50 metre round trip through the undergrowth on your left leads to a view over the Lac de Bort). Continue straight ahead. The Les Organs rock formations are on the right, and a view over the town on the left. Follow the trail halfway down the slope for a long distance, ignore a trail on the left (Bort information panel) and continue until you reach the road.Turn right onto the road, follow it for 100 metres. Go up the steps on your right. Also, turn right onto the next road. At the outer edge of the village of La Colombière, take the path to the right: leave a path on the right and follow the ""parking"" sign.Take the track to the left at the top of the path. At the Y-junction, go straight ahead. Then follow the path on the left before the entrance to the meadow to reach the esplanade."

A hike punctuated by some of Sumène Artense's most emblematic sites: Couzans castle, Saut de la Saule and the Rhue gorges. Saut de la Saule is a surprising canyon carved out of a gneiss barrier by the Rhue river. Accompanied by a succession of rapids and waterfalls, this site separates the communes of Vebret in Cantal and Bort-les-Orgues in Corrèze. Departure point: Hameau de Cheyssac. From the parking lot, at the crossroads between the D22 and the D103, take the D103 towards Bort-les-Orgues, then the first road on the right which takes you to the center of the hamlet.

A 6 km round trip to discover the Saut de la Saule, a surprising canyon carved out by the Rhue, accompanied by a succession of rapids and waterfalls. Before joining the Dordogne, the La Rhue river forms a waterfall. It crosses a barrier of gneiss, a very hard rock of magnetic origin. All the river's water is concentrated in the narrow passages that form the waterfalls. Departure point: Car park on the Cheyssac green trail. Take the D3 on the left towards the Cheyssac crossroads, then the first road on the left that leads to the center of the hamlet. Pass the bread oven and continue towards Rochemont. At the end of the hamlet, take the first track on the left, then immediately right onto a wide track lined with low walls, which takes you to the railroad line and the Piste Verte, which you must cross. Follow the path between the Piste Verte and the Soulou stream to the viaduct, pass under it and walk alongside the Rhue. Do not turn right. Continue straight ahead. You'll come to a promontory with a viewpoint over Saut de la Saule. Return the same way.

A discovery of the Madic plateau, with a rather difficult section along the Dordogne (steep banks). Start from the church parking lot. Opposite the Madic church, turn left onto rue de Chabannes, an extension of the D30. At the next crossroads (calvary), turn left onto rue de la Dordogne for 75 m, then left again onto rue du Stade. Continue straight ahead on rue du Pont Boutier, passing the school on your right and continuing straight ahead on the small road which, after a few hectometres, crosses a bridge. 1) At the fork in the road, take the track on the right. The track goes into the woods and climbs steadily for about 2 km to the hamlet of Moulergues (physical climb for the last 400 m, stroller for 100 m). 2) At the hamlet of Moulergues, take the road to the left, then fork right. The road descends to a fork in the road, which you must negotiate on the left. At the next crossroads, turn left again towards Moussoudès. 3) Continue straight ahead on this plateau road. Drive past Moussoudès and continue straight on until you reach the crossroads with the D15. Turn left towards Saignes and descend for about 350 m. At the first houses in La Barrade, turn left down the small road for about 300 metres. 4) Leave the road and turn right on this good track for about 2 km. The route descends into the valley through undergrowth, then skirts Lac de Madic on the left (don't go too fast, fences on the sides of the path). Cross the bridge and return to the road. Turn left, then right at the crossroads with the D30 towards Bort les Orgues and Mauriac. Go straight on for about 600 m to a place called "Le Ruisseau Perdu". 5) 50 m after the sign, turn left onto rue des Eaux and enter the industrial estate. Stay on the main road. The road descends, passing the waste disposal center and then the water treatment plant on your left. At the bottom of the treatment plant, take the path opposite. This goes into the woods and runs alongside the Dordogne (beware: the path is sometimes narrow, running along the top of steep banks, so don't hesitate to put your foot down if necessary). After 1.3 km, the path joins Madic. Turn left into rue du Suc, then right into rue de la Mairie, which leads back to the church and the starting point.

Departing from Champs-sur-Tarentaine-Marchal, this hike progresses through the woods to discover hidden, authentic hamlets. Dry-stone walls are the signature of the Artense landscape. Dry stone is a construction technique of popular and rural origin. It originated in the Neolithic period, when man first began to cultivate the land. These low walls show the extent of the work carried out by the "older generations", their sturdiness and the undeniable graphic quality of the result. Departure point: Champs-sur-Tarentaine-Marchal swimming pool parking lot. Take the D679 towards Bort-les-Orgues, then fork left on the path leading down to the Moulin de Champalier.

The Museum's 1,000 m² of exhibition space features some twenty different machines used to process hides. This is complemented by a video and old photos showing the tanner's work, from raw hide to finished leather. The Museum also offers a Leather Workshop, where visitors can make a leather object to take home as a souvenir. New at the Musée de la Tannerie is the Petit Musée de l'École. It's a recreation of a classroom, with objects, furniture and documents from the old school in Bort les Orgues. The exhibition evokes emotion and even nostalgia, with desks, inkwells, the smell of wax, geography maps, moral phrases, textbooks? Another part presents the great figures who forged the Republic's school system (Jules Ferry, Jean Jaurès)

Located in the Nord Cantal on the border with Corrèze, surrounded by wooded hills and just a stone's throw from the Dordogne river, we offer our vacation home for weekly rental. With a capacity of 6 people, the house comprises on the ground floor a living room/kitchen opening onto a large covered terrace with a breathtaking view over the valley, a large bedroom (double bed), a shower room, a separate toilet and a small games room, and on the first floor 3 bedrooms (double bed/double bed/2 single beds), a shower room and a toilet. Bort les Orgues is located in the heart of the Massif Central, and has the geographical particularity of being the link between the Auvergne and the Limousin. Bort stretches at the bottom of the Dordogne Valley, and is crossed by the beautiful "Rivière Espérance". It is a manufacturing town, which over the centuries has seen the establishment of several factories; clog making, hat making, silk milling, and then an industrial town, becoming the city of leather, its reputation at the Tanneries of Bort.
