The lake of Bort and the Chateau de Val

Dated from the 15th century, the Château de Val is one of the best-preserved in Auvergne and Limousin today. When the dam was filled in 1951, its natural environment was modified: built on a rock more than 30 metres high, overlooking the Dordogne Valley, the bottoms of its walls were indeed surrounded by the waters of the Dordogne. This chateau is open to visitors and renowned exhibition of paintings if held there every summer.
