In the heart of the Corrèze forest

Which do you prefer? The softness of the deciduous forests, the mysteries of the coniferous undergrowth, the landscape of the heath moors…Departing from the church of Palisse following the road to Neuvic. Go past the Vianon. At the crossroads, turn right towards Moulin de Chassagne, then left on the path that goes up the hill. Ignore several paths on your right. Once past the funeral monument, the path becomes a track that you follow for 200 m.At the first crossroads, leave the track to fork left onto a long path that passes beneath an electricity pylon and continues to Pellassiauve.In the village, turn right, then left towards Malsagne. At the crossroads, turn left; pass in front of the panorama. At the next crossroads, go straight on for a few metres and then turn to the right onto a forest path. After quite a long time, and after a meadow, turn right onto an inconspicuous path goes through a cutting in the woods and continues straight on to the road.Take that road on the left, leave it heading for Champier and enter the village of Baratout.At the junction, turn left and then take the grassy path immediately to the right. It goes into the forest. Turn right at the crossroads with the multi-branched beech tree.When you reach the road, turn right then left at the departmental road. Pass the Vianon again, leave the road to Palisse-Haute on the right, then, 200 m further on, take an uphill path on the right. Follow it straight ahead, alongside the meadows and then the campsite.Take the road to the left and then, 100 m after, take another path on the right.On the road, continue to the left for 300 m, then follow a track to the right. At the end of the track, before the grassy path, follow an inconspicuous path on the left that rejoins the road. Turn right to get back to the starting point.

From Le Vent-Haut to Le Vent-Bas

To the south of the commune of Neuvic, go through these two villages, witnesses of the resources of the Corrèze of yesterday and today.Park in the car park in front of the gîte (formerly Le Vent-Haut school). Set off on the track. Continue straight on until you reach the road, ignoring several tracks and paths on your right and left. Go straight ahead on the road for 50 m, then follow the path to the right. At the crossroads, keep left on the main track and continue downhill for a good kilometre.Turn left onto the path that winds its way up. At the T-junction, turn left; continue straight ahead until you reach the point where the tracks cross.Turn right and stay on the main track, which arcs round to Le Vent Bas, ignoring several paths and tracks on your right. Where the tracks cross in a T shape, turn left towards the village.At the first house, take the road to the left and follow it as far as the intersection with the D 982. Turn left and go up for 200 m.Take the trail to the right, cross the stream and follow the path that winds upwards and then straight on. After the steep path, follow the path on the left. Continue to the end of the wood, ignoring several paths on your left. Where the tracks meet, turn right and then left. Cross over to go into Le Vent-Haut.In the village, turn right twice. Follow the track. At the T-junction, go right: follow the track you took on the outward journey in the opposite direction; it leads back to the starting point.
