From the village of Cervières, discover the Bourget plain and climb up to the Col de Bousson for total immersion in the heart of nature. Warning, this itinerary is not groomed: the first part of the ascent to the plaine du bourget is groomed in February. After the plain, the route to the Col de Bousson is not groomed. From the village church, cross the bridge then take the lane rising to the left: you have to cross the village to reach its heights. Pass the Maison Faure-Vincent Dubois and take the 1st lane on the right, going straight up to the bend. Take the bend and pass the Ferme découverte La Maison des Bêtes à laine. Continue straight ahead. Walk up the snow-covered road that serves as a pedestrian route in winter (caution: groomed route subject to fee). Pass the Mur des Aittes, then the hamlet of La Chau. Once on the Bourget plain, continue straight on to the hamlet of Hugues. At the hamlet of Hugues, leave the groomed route and turn left towards Rif Tord/Col du Bousson. After Rif Tord, climb for about 3 km to the pass. Return by the same route.

Set off from Cervières to tackle one of the Tour de France's legendary passes!

Departing from Cervières, this route takes you to a magnificent natural setting: the upper Clarée valley. Detailed itinerary : - From the parking lot, turn right onto the RD 902 to reach Briançon. - Once in Briançon, at the Font Christianne hamlet, continue straight ahead on the RD 902 until you reach the Izoard traffic circle. - At the traffic circle, take the 4th exit. Then take the 1st road on the right, following the sign "Toutes directions - Gap". - At the traffic circle in front of E.Leclerc, take the 1st exit on the right and cross the bridge. - At the next traffic circle, take the 1st exit on the right, then go straight on to take the Chaussée (steeply-sloping road). - Follow the Chaussée up to the cease-and-desist sign. At the intersection, turn right towards "Turin - Montgenèvre - Névache". - At the Champs de Mars traffic circle, continue in the direction of Turin to leave Briançon on the RN 94. - After approx. 7 km, at La Vachette, turn left towards "Vallée de la Clarée, Névache, Val-des-Prés", on the RD 944G. - In the village of La Vachette, at the church, turn left towards Névache. Continue straight on for 15 km (take care when crossing Val-des-Prés in July/August, which is regulated by an alternative traffic light). - Once in Névache - Roubion, stay on the main road towards Ville Haute and the upper Clarée valley. - When you reach Névache - Ville Haute, turn right at the traffic circle onto the RD 301T towards the Haute Vallée. - Once through the village, continue straight on until you reach Laval (approx. 10 km) - (Beware of traffic and shuttle buses from the Haute Vallée in July and August). - Return by the same route - At the traffic circle at the bottom of the Chaussée à Briançon, take the leftmost exit onto rue Centrale (one-way street). At the end of Rue Centrale, head for Col de l'Izoard at the traffic circle to return to Cervières.

This groomed trail through the vast expanses of the Plateau du Bourget stretches for almost 15 kilometers to Les Fonts de Cervières. Discover an exceptional and timeless site, a hike for lovers of wide open spaces. Detailed itinerary : 1. From the Foyer de ski de fond parking lot, walk 100m up the road and cross the bridge. 2. Return to the village on the main road. At the top, after the bend, pass the Ferme découverte La Maison des Bêtes à laine and continue straight on. 3. Continue along the snow-covered road that serves as a snowshoe itinerary and cross the Mur des Aittes. 4. After the Mur des Aittes, the view opens out onto the vast snow-covered plateau of the Bourget marshes. Continue on the track, which descends slightly and passes close to the hamlet of La Chau. Rejoin the straight that crosses the Bourget marsh. 5. Pass the various hamlets on the plain. 6. Halfway along, the valley narrows. The trail continues for 5 kilometers to the hamlet of Les Fonts de Cervières. 7. Return by the same route.

A short, easy hike to the typical old summer cottages of Alp du Pied and its Sainte-Marie-Madeleine chapel. From Cervières, drive to the top of the village and park close to Saint-Michel church. Go around the building to the left to join the wide path, which gradually rises through the moorland on the left bank of the torrent to a cliffside blockhouse. Continue until you reach the footbridge that crosses the Villard torrent to reach the meadows. The route then twists and turns up to the hamlet of Alpe du Pied and the Chapelle Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, situated above a rocky spur. Return by the same route.

A short, easy hike in the hills above Cervières. Buildings from the 1900s, old blockhouses, summer cottages and vast valleys punctuate this stroll, offering beautiful panoramic views over the Fonds de Cervières valley, the Izoard and the Grand Peygu. Just above Cervières, park in a small recess after the first hairpin bend, where a wooden sign indicates "Roche Moutte". The path winds up through the forest to reach the Bois des Bans battery: three buildings dating from 1898. Continuing to the edge of the forest, the path then crosses a small scree that quickly gives way to vast alpine meadows dotted with juniper trees. Keep your eyes peeled for chamois! The path twists and turns as it rises slightly through the valley. At the first junction, turn left: the Bergerie de Peyre Moutte is just above the track. Follow a grassy track below the sheepfold for 700 metres, then leave the track and take the small path on the left, which gently descends towards the Alp du Pied sheepfold and the Sainte-Marie Madeleine chapel below. Cross the Alp du Pied summer cottages and continue downhill on a wider gravel path until you reach Saint-Michel church on the heights of Cervières. Return to the starting point via the tarmac road for 300 metres.

Take advantage of the wild spaces offered by the Col de Bousson. This is a ski touring itinerary. The information given is for guidance only (proposed GPX tracks and time included). They must be adapted according to your level of experience, the day's weather conditions and avalanche risks. In all cases, prepare for your outing before you leave with the appropriate ski touring equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe), appropriate clothing, plenty of provisions and water, and by informing those around you of your itinerary... If in doubt about the state of the snowpack and/or if the route becomes complicated, turn back. And don't forget to call on mountain professionals to guide you on outings off the beaten track.

Discover points of view and military heritage of a border region. Park in the main parking lot at the entrance to the hamlet of Le Laus, then cross the hamlet in its entirety: you must then walk along the Col de l'Izoard road: the trailhead is 150 metres after the last house, on the right-hand side of the Col de l'Izoard road. The forest-edge path (arrow: Fort de la Lausette) crosses a vast field for 250 metres (poorly marked) before bending to the left and gradually ascending into the forest. The path soon leaves the forest and begins a winding climb through scree: the Combe du Malazen. The path is slightly degraded in two places, with two slight gullies that are not very difficult to cross. The switchbacks soon lead to a magnificent valley dotted with larch trees. Crossing this flower-filled alpine pasture leads to a first crossroads on the edge of the forest; ignore the left-hand path (Bois des Loubatières), and take the right-hand path. The path continues until it leads to the old military road: take it to the left until you reach a fork in the road. Turn right to reach the foot of the old Lausette fort. Take the same route back down. We strongly advise against descending via the Sources des Loubatières (loop), as the path in the coomb is heavily ravined, making access dangerous.

The Cervières botanical trail is equipped with posts indicating particular species of local flora that you can observe. You can identify the species using the plaque. A landscape reading awaits you at the top of the trail to reveal the history of the panorama you discover and in particular the Lasseron massif. Detailed itinerary : 1. From the parking lot, head up towards the hamlet of Le Laus. 2. Arriving in front of the Arpelin inn, cross the bridge and take the path along the Blétonnet stream, towards the Oules valley. 3. Take the forest track along the stream for about 1500 m, passing the hamlet of Blétonnet. 4. 300m after the hamlet of Blétonnet, rejoin the track and turn right to cross the stream. At the end of the bridge, take the path on the right. 5. 250 m further on, at the fork in the road which is the arrival and departure point of the botanical trail in the strict sense of the term, there is a sign describing the trail and what you can see. Continue straight ahead. 6. Wind up to a new intersection. Take the right-hand path. 7. After a 950 m walk along the mountainside, you reach the belvedere, the highest point of the hike. Here you'll find a geological landscape sign. 8. Opposite the lookout, take the forest track to the right for a loop. 9. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead to reach the bridge. 10. The rest of the way back takes the same route as on the way up.

Thanks to the ski lifts, you can easily reach the high altitude forts of Les Gondrans, part of the Maginot Line. All that's left to do is climb Mont Janus to reach the fort and its panoramic views.

Take the Chalvet cable car (behind the Tourist Office) 2. On arrival, turn left towards the Terrasses restaurant 3. Continue straight ahead on the track towards Rocher diseur. 4. At Sous le rocher diseur, go straight up the rocky spur towards Rocher diseur. At the top, you can admire a large part of the Clarée valley and in the distance Briançon and its forts. On your right, you will find a military pill 5. Go back the way you came, first under the "rocher diseur", then straight ahead on the track until you come to a crossroads with a path going down on your right, heading back to Montgenèvre. 6. Take the path, which takes you back to the heights of the village. Go down the rue de la Combe. Turn left onto Rue du Rocher de Dix Heures, then left again onto Rue du Praya. At the bottom of Rue du Praya, turn left into Rue de l'Eglise to return to the Tourist Office.

Small cozy alpine hut, nestled at an altitude of 2223 m in the gentle Clarée valley. It is located on a mound between larches, high steep walls and beautiful valleys with rounded shapes. Originality of the refuge: near the refuge, you can spend a night in a traditional Mongolian house: a yurt of about 20 square meters, provided with 5 beds with real duvets. Terzo Alpini is a refuge located in the Vallée Étroite, at an altitude of 1780 m. It is part of the commune of Névache. The Vallée Etroite is part of the commune of Névache, and is a listed and protected site. Managed by Riccardo and Anna Novo, the refuge is open in summer from mid-June to mid-September, and in winter from mid-February to mid-April. This defensive wall was built in 1898-99 to block the gap in the Fonts de Cervières valley. The masonry wall is 328 m long and 2.5 m high, with more than a hundred firing battlements. Unterraced and preceded by a small ditch, the wall itself has a total length of 328.32 m, consisting of two straight alignments, terminated at both ends by a return and grafted onto a sort of central flat bastion, with one front and two flanks, which flanks it. Founded on a stepped footing to adapt to the sloping terrain, it has an average height of 2.40 to 2.50 m and a thickness of 0.45 ln, and is built of rough rubble masonry, hourd with lime mortar and unplastered. It is pierced at regular intervals by 134 "arched" crenellations and, in addition, by two passages, originally 2.36 and 2.80 m long, for paths. The south-east section included a small building measuring 5 x 3 m, leaning against the wall and used as a guardhouse for 6 men. Abandoned long ago, the structure has deteriorated as a result of weathering and the vandalism of stone salvagers: the coping tablet has disappeared, the guardhouse is in ruins and collapses are multiplying. The design of the Aittes wall (and its counterparts at Serre des Armes and Pas du Berger) is reminiscent of the layout of the "Vaudois wall", its ancestor by several centuries, and perhaps its inspiration. Given its date of construction, and with its thoroughly medieval structures, anywhere else it would appear to be a blatant anachronism in relation to the general technical context.

Landmark 4On one of the trees around you you can see a number painted in red on a white background. This is a ";cupboard ;"delimiting the edge of a communal forest plot managed by the NFB. Every 20 or 30 years, an exploitation takes place in this sector. A Natura 2000 zone is therefore not an environmental encapsulation but tries to reconcile human activities and sustainable management of biodiversity. In fact, strains and very young pines testify to the silvicultural activity.

Landmark 9You have just crossed a stony area in a bowl. This is the flow channel of a torrential lava. During violent rains, the scree is loaded with water and sometimes starts moving. The flow carries a lot of elements and can be very fast. Beware of the storms! On the opposite side, other channels of torrential lava are visible. They can also be used by avalanches in winter. Look for them! Here we see the role of protecting the soil of the forest.

Landmark 11The rocky peaks overlooking you are made of a special vacuolar rock: the cargneule. These cells (or "holes") are formed by the melting of the dolomite constituting the initial rock. This melting is due to acidified waters by the dissolution of gypsum in the immediate vicinity. Since the appearance of these cavities, today, the rainwater continues the erosive work and facilitate the creation of caves: the "balmes" or the "balms".

You arrive here at the end of the botanical path which is concretized by a reading of geological landscape on the ground. This application provides another vision by comparing past landscapes with those of today. We notice that the forest has gained ground, which has been the case for the whole of France for several decades. This phenomenon, mainly related to agricultural abandonment (particularly in the mountains), has recently stopped.

Landmark 29 Going along the slope, the path is oriented in the North direction Thus, climate change occurs: more cold, more moisture, more persistent snow .. The vegetation responds by adapting. The hooked pine gives way to pine cembro and larch Europe which tolerate more cold. A few sorb trees, enjoying the humidity, make their appearance. The cold mountain slopes facing north are called Ubacs and are different from the sunnier Adrets.

Landmark 32You arrive here in a forest plot that we name diversified: - In species: several species of trees are present and in particular some hardwoods - In age class: trees of all diameters are present. - In structure: with a treed floor (large trees), a shrub floor (bushes) and a herbaceous floor. In the end, logging in the mountains aims at diversifying the stands and thus promoting local biodiversity.

Designed as an advanced sentinel in the 18th century chain of fortifications, Fort Dauphin provided a crossfire with Fort des Salettes to prevent access to the town from the Chemin du Piémont and protected Fort des Têtes. As early as 1711, the military engineer Tardif planned a redoubt on a dangerous plateau called the Biffeul plateau (originally Bissecul), as the enemy could take up positions there, but a real fort was not built until between 1724 and 1734. Positioned as an advanced sentinel in the 18th century fortification chain, the fort was designed as a "shield" to protect the Trois Têtes fort. It ensures the crossing of fires with the Salettes redoubt in order to prohibit access to the town via the Montgenèvre road. This fort has hardly been modified, except for the addition of a cavernous powder magazine in 1874. Numerous projects aimed at giving it more scope followed one another, but only routine maintenance work and a few improvements were carried out. After the 1870 war, it became obsolete with the construction of new forts at higher altitudes. All the defensive equipment was turned towards the east and the Infernet mountain. It was necessary to carry out extensive earthworks to give it a regular shape, in accordance with the classical spirit and art of bastioned fortification. Rectangular in shape, it comprises three bastions and a truncated half-bastion due to the steepness of the terrain. It is designed in two parts separated by a large crossbeam, serving as a mask, on which the barracks rests. The latter houses a set of 16 cells designed to house 120 soldiers*. It consists of two floors plus a basement containing a 182 m3 water tank. One room is fitted out as a powder magazine. Each room, with a barrel vault, contains two firing windows opening onto the mask. These firing windows were only opened in the event of an attack so that the soldiers could conserve some heat. The original fireplaces have been replaced by stoves on the first floor, with the exception of the one in the officer's room. Fort Dauphin is one of the few works that can show 18th century architectural arrangements still intact. *according to Milet de Monville in 1747 - SHD Vincennes The fort belongs to the town of Briançon and is one of the works inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites for the works of Vauban.

Notre-Dame de l'Annonciation is the second parish church of Val-des-Prés built when La Vachette was an independent parish. It is a small church of Roman-Lombard sytle with Baroque decorations. This17th century church has rich paintings and statues.

This dial had a hectic history. Originally painted by Zarbula and repainted in 1954, we see only the original dial, the exotic bird. This dial also has an originality: its motto in French and in three. On the sundial is written: "La vita es gaïro, Ùn ris, Ùn breath, Ùn weeping". "Life is a little thing, a laugh, a breath, a tear" according to a verse by Frédéric Mistral. The original dial (1852) was repainted in ochre in 1954, in particular erasing the original motto: "O Sun, thou appear, thou smile, thou console the earth." It was restored in 1994 by Évelyne and Norbert Peyrot, but without being able to revert to the changes of 1954. No signature is visible, but the exotic bird, characteristic of Zarbula, makes it attribute to it. This Piedmontese artist, enjoying a solid reputation to the point of being copied, has, from one valley to the other, expressed his talent to a clientele of owners "to the fact of things". Restaurant of typical high mountain pasture, located in Fontcouverte, a hamlet +1860m. Formerly a place where cheese was made, the Fruitière now operates as a restaurant, and is an unmissable stop in the higher Clarée valley. Anything from snacks to real meals, you will find housecooked, local food and moutain specialties. Open everyday in wintertime, summertime and All Saints' Day holidays. Booking in advance is recommanded for lunches, and necessary for dinners (dinners only in summertime). Access in wintertime is only on foot/snowshoe, or ski. 1h30 from Névache Ville-Haute. During the summer, the road is accessible either by car, bike or on foot. Please note that credit/debit cards are not accepted : cash or cheques only.

Terzo Alpini is a refuge located in the Vallée Étroite, at an altitude of 1780 m. It is part of the commune of Névache. The Vallée Etroite is part of the commune of Névache, and is a listed and protected site. Managed by Riccardo and Anna Novo, the refuge is open in summer from mid-June to mid-September, and in winter from mid-February to mid-April. It is also open out of season on weekends (booking required). For New Year's Eve, reservations by telephone only. Catering by prior arrangement. The refuge : Terzo Alpini welcomes up to 34 guests (20 in rooms and 14 in dormitories). The refuge has hot showers on every floor, summer and winter alike (hot showers cost €1). Both the small rooms and the dormitory are equipped with wooden bunk beds, making for a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The refuge comprises 2 rooms for 2 people, 2 rooms for 4 people, 1 room for 8 people and a dormitory for 14 people. Accommodation 1/2 board, picnic baskets on request. The cuisine: At Terzo Alpini, Italian tradition comes first! You can try Piedmontese starters such as anchovies au vert, beans in salad, petite tome, cold cuts, sweet and sour zucchinis and many other specialities. At Terzo Alpini, polenta has pride of place!
