The Boucle du Pays de Manat starting from Servant is a 124 km itinerary in the heart of the Sioule and Combrailles gorges. This 2nd stage of 20 km connects the towns of Saint-Gal-sur-Sioule and Saint-Pardoux. Stage 2: St-Gal-sur-Sioule / St Pardoux: 20 km - 6h30 Start : At the end of the track, turn right onto the asphalt road. In the main street of Le Bourg, turn right, then immediately left (old oil mill). At “Chaux”, follow signs for “GAEC”, until you reach a crow's-foot (cross). 1 - Follow the left-hand road for 500 m, then take the path rising to the right until you reach the D15, continue to the right for 350 m, then continue to the right until you reach ''Machal''. At the entrance to the hamlet, turn left around the farm and follow the dirt track, ignoring the left and right paths, In this hamlet, take the road to the right for 100 m, then go straight ahead on a dirt track. At the first crossroads, turn right (panoramic view). At the hamlet of Outre, cross the road and continue straight ahead on the dirt track as far as the Marcillat church. 2 - Continue on the main road and 300m after the village exit sign, at the cross, take the track on the left. Go straight down to the bottom of the valley, cross a stream and continue straight ahead. Cross another stream and climb up to the D15 road. 3 - Cross the road, turn right and take the Rue de la Forge on the left. Go through the village of Mathas. At the D50, go to the main crossroads 30 m ahead on the left. 4 - Go straight ahead on chemin de Landouin. Turn left at the fork, then right at the crossroads. Continue along this track, leaving a path on your right. Pass the Fontaine d'Isserteau, climb up to cross the village and continue to the D50. 5 - Go straight ahead on the dirt track. At the crossroads, take the middle track, then fork left towards the “Table d'orientation” (360° view). Follow the track around a field to a T-junction, then turn left. At the road, turn right to reach the Saint Pardoux church.

One of the most picturesque villages of the Val de Sioule territory, at the entry of the Chouvigny Gorges.

This trail is typical of the Combrailles region, with the Sioule River forming the backdrop to the gorges and valleys. The climb up to Château-Rocher is a wonderful reward for the hiker, who enjoys a feeling of elevation above this bucolic landscape.

Stage 3: St Pardoux / Blot-l'Eglise: 21.5 km - 6h15 Start: After the church, take the road on the left, towards Blot-l'Eglise. Follow it for 800 m, then turn left onto a dirt track (iron gate). Continue on the main track, passing over the Sep stream at a sharp left-hand bend. At the fork, turn left, then, after a sharp left-hand bend, take the right-hand climb. After a wooden gate, descend to the left and continue straight on to the water's edge. 1 - Go around the dam to the left. Take the iron footbridge over the Sep and continue to the right. Cross the dam, follow the road for 150 m and take the track on the right. Follow the path alongside the dam up to a fork in the road. Turn right at the road (D122), then right again for right for 200 m and continue straight ahead on a dirt track. 2 - After a large embankment, turn left. Keep right at the next two intersections until you reach the D122. Continue along the track opposite. Turn right at a large left-hand bend. Back on the road, at Pery, turn right, then immediately left onto a tree-lined gravel track. At the fork in the road, turn right, then right again at the next two forks. At “Le Perissel”, take the road to the left, then, after 100 m, take the narrow dirt track rising to the left until you reach the D122. 3 - Follow the road on the left for 50m, then take the dirt track on the right (steel barrier). At the road, turn left twice until you see the village of Blot l'Église on your right, then join the town center.

A very hilly route that passes through pastures and forests overlooking the Menat valley, with views of the Chaîne des Puys, the Sioule and Château-Rocher. The Servant lake completes the roads.

They were deeply reworked in the 19th century. The ground level of the old buildings is marked by paving stones. The church contains very beautiful sculpted capitals, including lions. Magnificent medieval donkey back bridge with four broken arches which spans the Sioule. The work is solid thanks to the glacis in spurs (points) which consolidate the piers, in order to resist the strong floods. One span was swept away by a flood in the 18th century, and rebuilt identically in 1930, following the classification of the bridge on the list of Historic Monuments in 1918. We do not know the date of construction of this work, the first mentions are made in 1344 on the occasion of a lawsuit between the abbots of Menat (left bank of the Sioule) and the lords of Blot (right bank) about the fishing rights around the bridge. The "château" part is currently closed to the public but the grassy esplanade is accessible. An exhibition devoted to the construction site, detailing the first phase of work completed in 2018, can be visited at the entrance to the Château. Taking it's source from lake Servières in Sancy, this magnificant river, with its meanders, feeds the Fades reservoir with its lovely beaches. It then joins the Allier via the gorges (great seen by canoe) with super viewpoints along the way (meander of Queuille and Chateau Rocher) Come and discover the richness of its fauna and flora thanks to the numerous hiking trails along the river. The river is sometimes calm, to the delight of fishermen, and sometimes lively, to the delight of canoe enthusiasts.

A 13th-century fortified castle on a rocky outcrop in the heart of the Sioule Gorge, it belonged to the Seigneurs de Chouvigny, the La Fayette family and the Duc de Morny. Restored in the 20th century, this family-run château can only be visited in summer (ISMH). The fortified castle of Chouvigny is one of the last examples of military architecture of the Middle Ages, in particular with the cavalry court and the archers in carp tail perfectly preserved in the watchtower. It is also the former home of illustrious figures such as Madame de La Fayette or the Duc de Morny. For almost 8 centuries, the castle of Chouvigny has watched like a sentinel over the Sioule Gorge, of which it is one of the tourist jewels. Visits give access to the oratory, to the stately home housing a collection of medieval weapons and armors, to the hall of honor, to the treasure tower and to the watchtower, as well as to the various terraces with panoramic views over the Sioule river.

Located in the heart of the Gorges de la Sioule, the Tarteaux site offers 13 cottages for rental. Nearby, the Guinguette du pont de Menat welcomes you with music and good humor. Located in close proximity to the campsite, our fully equipped holiday cottages offer a comfortable and functional setting for a peaceful stay. With a surface area of 50 m², they are designed to accommodate families or groups of friends in ideal conditions.
