A flamboyant site with a rich history and traces of its equestrian past, the Domaine de Nexon was built in the 17th century. It remained the property of the family of the same name until 1983, when it was acquired by the municipality. The elements still present today bear witness to the existence of the stud farm, created in the 16th century by the owners. The park and castle grounds are open to visitors all year round. Take advantage of your visit to try out the Tèrra Aventura "What's this Sirque?" tour!

The château's 38.5-hectare park is listed as a historic monument. Created in the mid-19th century by the Comte de Choulot, landscape gardener to Baron Astolphe De Nexon, it has been open to the public since the municipality acquired the site. The entire complex is enclosed by a stone wall. The park is embellished by a variety of elements: an English river, a waterfall with a pond in the forest, rocks... At the bend of a long driveway, you can also discover the park's 19th-century chapel, still owned by the Gay de Nexon family. A veritable jewel case of greenery, the park of Château de Nexon is the ideal place for a stroll combining discovery and tranquillity. Allowed only to pedestrians, you'll be impressed by its castle entrance and majestic stables. Water is everywhere: fountains, waterfalls.

Built between the 11th and 15th centuries, the church features both Romanesque and Gothic architectural elements. Constructed mainly of Limousin granite, its use was favored for its solidity, a criterion required for fortified constructions at the time. Since 1926, part of the church, namely the apse and choir (Romanesque part), has been listed as a Monument Historique. Facing the château, it bears the remains of medieval fortifications, notably the octagonal bell tower and the bretèche* on the west façade. Due to the Franco-English conflicts, the population needed a place of physical and spiritual refuge. Inside is the reliquary bust of the 15th bishop of Limoges. This is Saint-Ferréol. Take a virtual tour of the building by following the link (on the right or below).

At the bend of a long driveway, discover the park's chapel, built in the 19th century and still owned by the Gay de Nexon family. Adrienne Chanel, aunt of the famous Coco Chanel, is buried here.

Nestled in the grounds of the Château de Nexon, the garden is located between the retirement home and the school complex, a veritable "bridge between generations". It stimulates all the senses: hearing, with the bamboo labyrinth where the breath of air invents melodies; touch, with the bark garden where some 30 "special" trees quiver under your caresses; taste, with the orchard where old varieties stand alongside a small collection of hazelnut trees; smell, with the scent tunnel featuring plants with unusual scents (chocolate, pineapple, peanut, etc.); and sight, with a rainbow of perennials. A magnificent collection of over 150 varieties of sage, registered with the Conservatoire des Collections Végétales Spécialisées, is also preserved here, demonstrating the town?s commitment to preserving our environment. Awaken your senses!

Located at the entrance to the cemetery, the chapel stands on the site of an ancient oratory that existed there in the 13th century. At that time, it was still called "Chapelle Notre Dame des Neiges", but from the 14th century onwards, the name "Chapelle Notre Dame des Garennes" was adopted, due to the surrounding woods. Come and see the Virgin and Child holding a distaff in her right hand, a traditional symbol of women?s work in the past.

The Etang de la Lande is the town of Nexon's lake. In season, it is used by fishermen, but swimming is prohibited. The setting is pleasant: a fine sandy beach, large lawns and a beautiful small forest offering the opportunity for refreshing walks in the undergrowth during the summer. There are also a number of children's games and picnic tables. Enough to spend a pleasant, relaxing day! A campsite on its banks welcomes tourists.

Several picnic areas with tables and benches are available in the commune. The first is in the château grounds, next to the playground, and the second by the Etang de la Lande.

This memorial stone honors those interned at the Nexon camp between 1940 and 1944, as well as the 450 Jews, including 68 children, who were arrested in the Limoges region, gathered at the camp, and then deported to the Auschwitz extermination camp on August 29, 1942. Erected as a memorial, this monument commemorates the history of the Nexon camp and invites visitors to reflect and keep alive the memory of the victims of World War II.
