Explore the charm of Puntous, Hautes-Pyrénées

A loop at the foot of the Haut-Garonne Pyrenees with beautiful hills on country roads. Departure from Montréjeau-Gourdan-Polignan station towards St-Bertrand de Comminges. You will pass close to the Gargas caves. You will tackle a series of hills (Montoussé, St-Arroman, Mazouau, Hèches, Col de Coupe).

A route with a few climbs that will take you around the outskirts of St-Bertrand de Comminges and through Les Frontignes. With the Pyrenees as a backdrop, you’ll cycle through fields, forests and small villages in the Pyrenean foothills. Route suggested by the La Roue Libre Huossaise cycling club. From Gourdan Polignan station, head towards Seilhan on the D8a, which will take you to St-Bertrand de Comminges. Continue towards Loures Barousse and then Barbazan (roundabout with lots of traffic). Follow the D26 towards Sauveterre de Comminges (hamlet of Bruncan) and continue towards St-Pé d'Ardet. Continue towards Frontignan de Comminges and then Fronsac. Head for Luchon and after 2 km, at the roundabout, take the cycle route to Loures Barousse, Labroquère and Gourdan-Polignan.

This challenging route is a great way to start tackling elevation gains as part of your training before taking on mountain passes. Set between the plains and the foothills of the Pyrenees, your ride will be punctuated by varied landscapes and lovely viewpoints. Route suggested by the La Roue Libre Huossaise cycling club. From Gourdan Polignan station, head towards Seilhan on the D8a, which will take you to St-Bertrand de Comminges and then Loures Barousse. Take the cycle lane towards Chaum. At the roundabout, turn left towards Fronsac and then the Col des Ares (797m - 8.4km climb - 330m ascent - % average: 4 - % maximum: 11). At the summit, continue towards Juzet d'Izaut, Izaut de l'Hôtel, Payssous, Sauveterre de Comminges and Barbazan. This brings you to the second difficulty on the route, the côte de Burs (600m - 1.74km ascent - 125m vertical drop - average %: 7.1 - maximum %: 7.1). Continue towards Hauts de Labroquère and descend towards Labroquère. At the traffic lights, cross the D825 to take the cycle route back to Gourdan-Polignan.

A relatively easy route alternating between cycle paths and back roads. You’ll explore the villages of St-Bertrand de Comminges and Valcabrère, pass through picturesque villages and cycle along the banks of the Garonne. Route suggested by the La Roue Libre Huossaise cycling club. From Gourdan Polignan station, head towards Seilhan on the D8a, which will take you to St-Bertrand de Comminges. Continue towards Loures Barousse and then Barbazan (roundabout with lots of traffic). On leaving Barbazan, head towards Cier de Rivière, Ardiège and Martres de Rivière. Cross the D8 towards Pointis de Rivière to join the cycle path along the banks of the Garonne. This will take you to Gourdan Polignan.

Works of art are installed in the middle of nature, on a hiking trail, for the pleasure of young and old curious. This walk invites you to take a close and artistic look at the natural environment. The artistic creation was entrusted to Coline Vergez, a local artist already well known in Simorre. His reflection on rural art and environmental concerns lead him to work with local artists and artisans for the realization of his 5 works and the signage of the course, using sustainable materials and/ or recovery. This family trail runs alongside the Garonne. There are panoramic views of remarkable sites such as Saint-Bertrand de Comminges. Admire the church at Seilhan and its octagonal, terraced bell tower. In summer, it's not unusual to see kayakers paddling down the Garonne... Any ideas for your next outing? On hot summer days, there are a number of beaches on the banks of the Garonne where you can relax. Here, a picnic is much appreciated. In the distance, you can admire the magnificent cathedral of St-Bertrand de Comminges.

A lovely walk in the Pyrenean foothills for the whole family, young and old alike. The tranquillity of the surrounding area will be appreciated by all. This is more of a walk than a hike. A pleasant tour of the villages of Ardiège and Cier-de-Rivière with a few typical Comminges houses, squares and wash houses giving an idea of life in days gone by.

On this hike through the Pyrenean foothills, you'll discover traditional architecture and a beautiful panorama of the Sauveterre-de-Comminges region. Starting from the village of Cier-de-Rivière, you will set off on a pleasant hike through the woods in the Pyrenean foothills.

A gourmet hike is organized on the Trail at P'art on Thursday, July 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hiking open to all. Jump in your walking shoes for a gourmet day in a picturesque village of the Astarac: Simorre! Accompanied by a Pass'enGers guide, you will start the day with a 4 km hike (80 m cumulative elevation gain) on the A p'Art trail. This course is punctuated by works of art in the heart of nature and offers a beautiful panorama of the Gers hills. At the end of the hike, you will discover the history of this picturesque village where wooden houses and brick architecture compete in elegance, as well as the architecture of the abbey-church redesigned by Viollet-Le-Duc. At lunchtime, a gourmet picnic awaits you, consisting only of local products: duck and black pork terrines, vegetarian tartines, melon, floc de Gascogne and craft beers, Côtes de Gascogne wine, apple juice, biscuits... Everything comes from a radius of 50 km maximum. In the afternoon, you will be able to visit independently the peasant museum, and admire its reproductions of mastodons (not included in the price). At the gates of Pau, about 10km, the gite is in a small recent housing estate of about ten houses. It is a functional gite fitted out on the ground floor, built in 2018. It is an old bastide founded in the 13th century by the Cistercian monks of Nizors Abbey. The town centre, dominated by the church of Notre Dame de l'Assomption, still houses vestiges such as loopholes, walls and moats. Labelled "Station Verte" (Green resort) for nature holidays! The town of Boulogne, with two coats of arms, is an ancient bastide founded in the 13th century by the Cistercian monks of the Abbey of Nizors. Nestled between Gascony and the Pyrenees, in the Pays de Comminges. The town centre, dominated by the church of Notre Dame de l'Assomption, still houses vestiges of this bastide. Rich in this historical past, Boulogne sur Gesse remains the guarantor of local traditions and know-how. Hall built according to the project of the architect Achille Ambialet, in 1869. The town hall forms a monumental ensemble that brings together the functions of market, town hall and justice. It is a mixed structure with a main facade of dressed stone with traditional architectural decoration, and a metal structure for the market area.

In 1283, Abbot Taillefer, superior of the Cistercian abbey of Nizors, founded the bastide town of Boulogne. The church was started around this time but finalised later. It used to have a rectangular plan. Side chapels were added in the 15th century. The base of the square tower forms a vaulted porch, supported by large square pillars. The spire above the bell tower was destroyed by lightning in 1883 and rebuilt in 1890. The lower part is one of the rare testimonies of 14th century bastide architecture.

Tour of the largest Gallo-Roman villa excavated in France. The museum is temporarily closed. Centre des Monuments Nationaux. All year round, Montmaurin's archaeological sites and museum take you back in time to discover prehistoric man and the Gallo-Romans, with visits to the Gallo-Roman villas of Lassalles and la Hillère and the archaeological museum. The museum, located in the centre of the village, has 3 permanent exhibition rooms with a modern, educational museography. It displays objects unearthed from the Gallo-Roman villa at Lassalles and La Hillère, as well as those found in prehistoric caves and rock shelters in the surrounding area: the skeleton of a cave lion, carved stones, the mandible of early man and, of course, a facsimile of the famous Lespugue Venus. At the Lassalles site, visitors will discover living quarters, several courtyards, columns and veneers of Pyrenean marble, as well as sublime mosaics with complex geometric motifs dating from the 4th century AD. Château de Valmirande, built by Baron Bertrand de Lassus, was created from scratch at the end of the 19th century. In 1892, he acquired 10 parcels of land in a single block, covering an area of around 41 hectares, to build the château, surrounded by landscaped grounds. The château was designed by Louis Garros, an architect from Bordeaux. For the parkland, Baron de Lassus called on the Bülher brothers, creators of the Parc de la tête d'Or in Lyon, Parc Borély in Marseille and the Talleyrand estate in Valençay, etc. In 1902, the château was extended to the east by a chapel, whose stained-glass windows, marbles and Sacred Heart by L. This artistic project was born out of the desire of the ‘Food’ collective of the Bouche A Oreille cooperative to bring art to the ‘village kitchen garden’. The idea was not just to bring gardeners, villagers and visitors into contact with artistic works, but for them to be a vehicle for questioning and reflecting on the environment in which they are displayed: the kitchen garden. The artistic work of Coline Vergez, scenographer, is always a witness to the environment in which it takes place. She seeks to highlight and question it, while integrating her pieces within it. In this way, the works fit into a logic of harmony between materials, images that make sense and/or their utility. She created her first work ‘MMMMH!’ in the village of Simorre, as well as 5 ½uvres that make up the Sentier à p'Art - a 4km walking trail starting from Simorre based on the principle of Land'Art. ‘In this project, I want to remain faithful to this way of working and propose works that are fully integrated into the intention of the vegetable garden; that respect its gesture, reveal it and serve it. My artistic approach is intended to be accessible to everyone, in a language that is clear and easy to understand, and that does not compartmentalise. I want to speak to everyone and I want my work to speak to everyone". A little corner of the kitchen or...behind the scenes of life. This first work, installed in May 2020, highlights a central element of the kitchen that plays as essential a role in the processing of food as it does in that of the people who live there: its table. ‘I chose it for its most basic function. It's the heart of the kitchen, the place where food is cut and chopped, de-boned, sorted, cleaned, weighed, pressed... The place where food becomes a meal. But it's also the place where people reveal themselves, alone or to each other. I love the idea that a single edge of the kitchen table could have witnessed the birth of love, the passing of culinary or family secrets, the tearing apart of people, the making of major decisions, the creation of projects, the growth of children, the sharing of desires... No matter how insignificant, this little corner of the table works on living things, transforms them and makes them evolve. Its scale has been enlarged to emphasise its importance, but also to make it a useful structure in the vegetable garden. Both the chair and the table can accommodate climbing plants and cucurbits, and their heights allow the gardener to pick fruit with ease, while creating a shady spot in summer. In winter, the table is covered in strips of woollen fabric coloured with plants from the garden or picked nearby. Artistic structures for kitchen use. Un petit coin de cuisine ou...les coulisses de la vie’ is part of an overall concept that will see other installations created in the same spirit. The idea is that each artistic installation should be made up of three essential elements: it should provoke questioning, it should be useful and it should be legible. These elements will be developed in different ways for each piece. In this context, Coline's work will question what is not visible to the naked eye: the purpose of market gardening (for what purpose do we cultivate, how do we transform what grows there, what is the future of what we create there? etc.) or will highlight the invisible but essential players in the life of the vegetable garden (its microcosm: earthworm, beetle, lucanus, dragonfly, etc.). The works will all have a real function within the garden, whether in the gardening process, in providing amenities for native flora or fauna, or in improving the living spaces for gardeners or visitors. This work will be aimed at a lay audience and is intended to speak to everyone. Each person will interpret the works in their own way, depending on who they are and what their artistic background is, but the creations will use a very direct and clear visual language. To facilitate this, humour and paradox will be used to demystify art and make it accessible to everyone.

You can visit the vegetable garden at Le Bouche à Oreille restaurant, to the delight of young and old alike! Le Bouche à Oreille (‘BAO’ for those who are used to it) is a SCIC, a not-for-profit structure, bringing together more than 120 cooperators around 4 colleges: 1- Food, from the vegetable garden to the plate. 2- Culture and popular education. 3- Development of local economic initiatives. 4- Ethics and transmission, which drives the project's democracy. In addition to delicious meals and cultural events throughout the year, Le Bouche à Oreille has created its own vegetable garden in the village of Simorre. Situated along the footpaths, the kitchen garden is open to the public and allows visitors to discover the many and varied vegetables, herbs and edible flowers that have been carefully cultivated to create the sublime menus proposed by chef Séverine. The kitchen garden is accessible by a few wooden steps from a footpath, and is open to the curious. The names and varieties of the plants are listed on small slates that sometimes reveal surprises. Take your time on site, as wooden chairs and tables have been set up for resting, picnicking, chatting, watching the frogs or admiring the portraits of the women vegetable gardeners! The ‘Structure artistique à utilité potagère’ project was born out of a desire on the part of the BAO's ‘Alimentation’ collective to bring art to the ‘village kitchen garden’. Maison de Zélie invites you to share its history and heritage 3km from the Montréjeau swimming lake. Renovated 1876 character house with 3 rooms (living room and two bedrooms) with small private garden, quiet south-facing position. The 1st bedroom (28m2) has a double aspect: to the east a good-sized balcony with access via French doors and a single opening to the south. The second bedroom (15 m2) is south-facing and has been individually decorated with stylish furniture combining comfort and tradition. It sleeps 5. The accommodation The accommodation is as close as possible to its original authenticity, with tiled walls and some imperfections, while complying with modern standards of comfort and safety. Wifi is installed with the Free network. Passenger access As I explained, the stairwell serves the entire house, with only one room on the ground floor closed off as it has not been renovated.
