Go through the ages with the exceptional historical heritage of the Alpilles! From the Inter communal Tourist Office of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, take the D5 towards the Glanum site to the junction with Joseph d'Arbaud Avenue. 1 - Turn right on the avenue. Continue straight on "Chemin Gaulois" to the irrigation canal. Turn left after the canal, then take the old road on the left to Arles until the intersection with the D27. 2 - Take the D27 left towards Les Baux-de-Provence. Climb the road for 4 km, then go down the Val d'Enfer to Baux-de-Provence. 3 - Continue on the D27 towards Maussane-les-Alpilles to the junction with the D78f. Turn left and continue until the intersection with the D17 in the heart of Maussane-les-Alpilles. 4- Cross the D17 and continue on the way to the pine forest. At the crossroads of the D78c, take it on the right. Continue to the center of Paradou and the intersection with the Belle Croix road. 5 - Turn left on Belle Croix road and continue for about 5 km until you reach the D33. 6 - Turn right towards Fontvieille, until you reach the junction with the D17a. Cross this crossroads and continue towards Saint-Etienne du Grès 7 - (Caution!) At the intersection with the D33a, turn left and continue using the coloured shoulder to the Saint Gabriel chapel. 8 - Just after the chapel, turn right on the D32, always towards Saint-Etienne du Grès. Cross the village, past the town hall. 9 - Before the exit of the village, take on the right the little path of Notre-Dame-du-Château. 10 - After a small bridge, take on the left the path of Calanquet. Continue for 700 m then at the crossroads with the D31, turn right and continue to the center of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. At the church, turn right to join the departure car park.

A walk between a shaded valley and the sunny plateau, to listen and discover the birds of the Alpilles. At the Antiques car park, go along the D5 towards Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and turn right to reach the Saint-PaulCloister at the end of the path surrounded by trees. 1 – Opposite of the Cloister, follow the road on the right to bypass it and take the path on the right at the RIS panel (Relais Information Service) of the Alpilles Regional Park. Therefore, follow the RP marked trail (yellow), which runs through the valley and forest. 2 At the crossroads with the small paved road, turn left and follow it. Continue on the road at the next junction before the next crossroads. 3 – Continue straight on the road that rises towards the plateau of Caume. At the telecommunication tower, go left towards the GR6 for about 400m. 4 – The return begins from this point, by the same route.

Take full view, during this sensational circuit that will take you to discover the Alpilles in all their facets! The burial works of the High Voltage line of the Caume, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence will take place between 18/09/2017 and 22/12/2017, down from the telecommunication relay to the Plaines car park. Diversion routes will be set up except for the portion between Vallon de Valrugues and the plateau, on the route of Gr6, which will be completely closed for a few weeks. Consult the map of the works on the Park's website for more details. From the Antiques car park, along the D5 towards Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, and turn right to join the Cloister of Saint Paul Mausole, at the end of the path lined with plane trees. 1- Facing the Cloister, follow the road on the right to bypass it. At the Relais Information Service panel of the Alpilles Regional Nature Park, take Chemin des Carrières on the right. Follow the marked path PR (in yellow), which crosses valley and forest. 2- At the crossroads with the small paved road, follow it to the left. Continue on the road to the telecommunication tower of the Caume plateau. At the tower, turn left towards GR®6. After the sign of "Biotope", follow the ridge line to the right by a series of rocky steps. 3- After 2 km, turn to the right following the GR®6 and join the foot of the peaks. Continue between rocky passages and undergrowth to the Vallongue pass and its rocky gorge. Go down to the left to a road near the airfield (some passages require the hands). 4- Take the path on the left. From this point the circuit will be double marked PR (yellow) and GR® (red / white) until arrival. Continue for 3 km, remaining attentive to the marking, until a junction of marked paths and a property lined with walls. 5- Turn left and walk 500 m. Take a track on the right and then a small asphalt road. At the hairpin bend, turn left onto the path lined with properties. 6- At the fork stay on the right, further pass a barrier then continue to a stone cottage. After the shed, turn left. Cut the path where the GR®6 passes, go up between two wooden barriers and continue to the right on the path that joins the starting point.

A breath of fresh air, in the shade of the oaks and pines! Go down slightly on St Rémy (Caution!) to turn right on the pine track leading to St Paul de Mausole. Continue left on the paved road "Chemin des Carrières". 1 Stay on your left at the crow's feet. 150m away, switch to the left path at the sight of a dead end sign. 300m further, cut across the GR6 path and continue on the GR653D path towards Eygalières. 2 - Continue straight until a fork. Turn right and leave behind to the left return route. Continue on 200m and after a clearing, turn left along the properties (follow the GR and RP markings) to a small road. 3 - Take a right for 600m. Go along a cypress hedge on your left, followed by a marked dirt road by the GR and RP. 4 - Turn left on the dirt road leading to a large perpendicular path. 5 - Take a left onto the large perpendicular path. Go down this path for 500m. 6 - After a large olive grove, turn left onto the path marked by the RP and leave behind to the right the path marked by the GR. 7 - After a vineyard on the right, come out on a road, the Voie Aurélia. Follow it to the left. 8 - Turn left 60m further and keep on the road until the next turn. Continue left on the dirt road which leads to a mas (Provençal farmhouse) that you can bypass by going up a small hillock. 400m further, reach the fork to get to and from the point already used on the opposite route.

By drailles and by paths, follow the tracks of the transhumance of the Alpilles shepherds and their flocks! Back to the car park, take the path on the left, follow it for 3.5 km and pass a panel of communal decree. At the next intersection, turn left. Go right on the white gravel path and follow it to the road. 1- Turn left, pass the water tower and in the bend turn on the 2nd street on the left. Go down to the roundabout. Take the 2nd exit and take the avenue on the left. Turn left and cross the Liberation and Saint-Paul squares to reach the Bergerie. 2- Retrace your steps and take a right on the street just before the pharmacy. At the intersection, stay left and continue to the canal. Follow it on the right. At the end of the road, turn right. Turn left and pass the Roumanille manade. 3- Climb the path to the right and pass the canal. Once the hill is completed, switch on the path to the right. Take the road on the right, then turn left on the path of Mas de Bedoc. At the intersection, turn left on the path. At the end, turn left on a road. Follow it until you reach the D30b. 4- Continue towards Noves. After 300 m follow the Abeies path on the left, then the Crêtes path. At the end, take on the left the D30b to join Noves and the D30. Turn to the left. Follow the direction Châteaurenard and pass three roundabouts. After the 3rd, go left the medieval gate. 5- Just after, turn right, join the Pagnel square and continue Paul Auran street. At the end, turn right, then direct left. Take the D30b on the right. 1 km further, take a path on the left (n°941). At the end, turn left, cross the river and turn right (Mas Vert). Follow this path for 2 km. 6- Follow the road to the right. Go The river and at the intersection, take to the right. After 700 m, fork left on the Chicard de Pouvarel draille. Borrow the 1st road on the right. Go up the road on the left and join point 4. Follow the path of Transhumance on the left. Continue straight for 7.5 km to return to the starting point.

After enjoying the shade offered by beautiful pine forests, contemplate the Alpilles and Provence as you've never done! From the parking, go up track to West through the pines for join the tarred road that comes to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Follow it and take the left on the Roman Road and Panouilles. Continue to the Alpines Canal and the Chemin des Servières and Cadenières. 1- At the intersection, turn left (from this point, follow the signs GR® and PR to point 3). Stay on this paved road for 1.7 km, then climb a hill by a path. Join the DFCI track and follow it until the D27. 2- Turn left on this road, go up 250 m, then turn right on the DFCI track AL 107. Pass a barrier and go up the valley called "Gaudre de Valmouriane". After a series of laces, you get to a crossroads. 3- Take the GR®6 on the left towards Les Baux (from this point follow the GR® signs to the car park from the starting point). At the pass, join the D27. Cross it and continue 500 m on an asphalt road, on the left. After the orientation table and a barrier, continue on a track. 4- Pass the watchtower, leave the Lombards track on the right (panel), then DFCI no. AL 112 on the left. Continue for 1.3 km then turn left into a valley and return to the starting point.

Leave the foot of Baux-de-Provence, and win the roof of the Alpilles by the peaceful trail of the Lombards! Back to the Carrières de Lumières car park, take the road on the left, and go directly left on a road marked PR. Continue down this road until the D27 Turn right and follow this road to the entrance of the Baumanière hotel. 1- Cross the road to reach a Department sign and take the path marked PR. At the fork, follow the path marked PR on the right. At the next intersection, turn right and then left just before a Canadian crossing. 500 m further, join another intersection and its Canadian crossing.2- bifurcate to the left on a tarmac path marked PR. Pass the Sainte-Berthe Mas and continue until the D27. Cross it, then after 150 m take path on the right marked PR. Follow it for 800 m until you reach a crossroads. Cross it and continue straight. At the next intersection keep left and join a hairpin bend. 3- At the bend, take a path marked PR on the left, preceded by a hard-wired barrier. Climb this track in laces for 3 km. At the intersection marked with a cairn, turn left on the track marked GR®, following the sign of the Department "Les Baux-de-Provence 3.7 km". At the next intersection, stay on the GR®6 and follow it for 1.7 km to a cistern. 4- 100 m further, go down on the left the marked path PR, indicated by the sign of the Department "Les Baux-de-Provence by the Val d'Enfer 2 km". At the next junction, continue straight until you reach the D27 road. Follow it to the left to find the starting point.

Come observe the birds which have left the hills to spend winter in these rocks, one of the best sights of France! From the car park, take a left on the path that goes around the curve, below the castle. At the sign "Chapelle de Trémaïé", continue on the path to bypass the village of Les Baux-de-Provence. After the short descent, pass the Black Madonna of Baux-de-Provence. Then go up the stairs towards the village. 1 - When reaching the car park, turn right and climb the stairs. Once through the door of the ramparts and the last steps, continue straight and leave the ecomuseum on your left. At the next intersection, turn left. 2 - Once out of the village, turn right and climb the road. Go straight to reach the D27a and follow it until the car park from the starting point.

Discover the landscapes evoking the Hell of Dante by browsing the Val d'Enfer ! With your back to the Tourist Office, turn right and cross the esplanade. At the end, go down the stairs and follow the road on the left. At the intersection, follow the road to the right in direction of Maillane. Go past the Quarries of Lights, ignore the road that goes down to the left, and just after the sign of end of agglomeration take on the right the way marked PR. Continue straight on this road for 500 m. 1- At the crossing, turn right on the blue marked path, then ignore the path on your left. At the next intersection, climb the path to the left and continue for 1 km. Ignore the path on your left and join immediately after a crossroads near a buried cistern. 2- Take the marked GR® trail on the left and follow it to a DFCI barrier. Climb the very wide path on the right leading to a panorama. Go down the path on the left. Follow the road on the right for 200 m to reach the pierced rock. Return of the descended path by foot. 3- Turn right on the path, follow it for 500 m, and find the intersection of point1. Go down the path already practiced in the other direction and join the end of agglomeration sign. Follow the road towards the Carrières de Lumières and take the marked road PR on the right. Follow it on 200 m. 4- At the level of the stone, engraved ""Le Val d'Enfer - les Portelets", take on the right the way with the feet of the rocks on a few meters, then to return on your steps. Continue on the marked road PR, until the small parking of the old school of Les Baux On the left of the school, go up the concrete road to join the D27. 5- (Caution, traffic) Cross the road and climb the stairs on the right to a parking lot. Once on the parking lot, climb the paved street, pass a fortified gate and cross the town center of Les Baux to reach the starting point.

The Saint Martin's Collegiate Church is a catholic church located in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Rebuilt in part after a collapse in 1818, it has retained its 14th century Gothic bell tower, but has an imposing entrance with neoclassical columns supporting a triangular pediment. His organ was completely rebuilt by Pascal Quoirin in 1983. The building is also classified as a historical monument since 1984.

This 14th century chapel was enlarged in 1651 on the vow of the consuls to erect an altar to Saint-Rémy, saint patron of the city, and to Saint-Roch, healer of the plague which ravages Provence then. It is listed on the list of Historic Monuments and today welcomes eleven paintings by Mario Prassinos painter of abstract art. He owned a house in Eygalières and was inspired by the Alpilles for different works.

From Orgon, the network of the northern Alpines Canal stretches for 119 km and ends in the Roubines of Anguillon and Vigueirat. Begun in 1826, its construction was slowed by conflicts of interest and ended in 1875. At the time, it was intended to complete the Canal des Alpines meridionales finished in 1772, to supply water to 18 towns and 40 additional mills.

The Saint Paul cloister is a former monastery of the 11th-12th century. This building, built in true Roman style has lost its original purpose to be transformed into a cultural and tourist centre with Van Gogh as the main attraction and who was a patient here. Indeed, the Dutch artist stayed here between May 1889 and May 1890. You will find between these walls a museum about his stay, but also a reproduction of some 20 paintings of his. To be seen alone or with family!

These two monuments called "Les Antiques", marked the entrance to the town of Glanum: Mausoleum of the Jules and the Arc de Triomphe. The funerary Mausoleum dates from the years 30-20 BC.. It owes its fame to its unique structure in Roman architecture: Around 20 A.C, the arch lost the pediment which surmounted the vault. It is decorated with beautiful reliefs illustrating the conquest of Gaul by Caesar and fruits and foliage, symbols of abundance, carved under the vault.

Via Domitia is the oldest road in France, built from 120 BC based on ancient Gallic routes. Beyond the Spanish border, this route is called Via Augusta. This interprovincial road was built and maintained at the expense of the Roman state. Via Domitia was a very busy route followed by armies, officials, merchants, travelers, pilgrims throughout the Empire, and still remained in the Middle Ages.

The archaeological site of Glanum is one of the "must see" sites of the town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, the result of over a century of excavations. This site, dating back to the 6th century BC, is a Celtic site which suffered from the Greek and Roman influences over the past centuries. After becoming a trading and religious centre in the Alpilles, it was destroyed in the 3rd century AD during the barbarian invasions. The survivors abandoned the area to build the foundations of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and to settle there.

The coussoul is a steppe-style pastoral lawn, whose rough vegetation grows on very fine soil. This soil covers pebbles from the old bed of the Durance. Less than a meter deep, there is a layer of pebbles, cemented naturally by a crust of mineral salts, called "pudding". Within the Petite Crau, it is possible to find spaces of coussouls well preserved, giving it an exceptional ecological richness.

Surrounded by limestone cliffs, Lake Peiroou is an artificial lake, with a capacity of 80 000 m3, retained by a dam. Its name comes from the Provençal "pèiroù" which means cauldron. It was here that the Romans built a dam that supplied water to the city of Glanum, thanks to an aqueduct. It was one of the first "arch dam" of history. The current dam, meanwhile, was built in October 1891, in the same place as that of the Romans, to supply the fountains of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.

Le Bistrot de l'Hoste is above all a family affair. Originally from Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, Pascale joined Domazan three decades ago. Her passion for cooking was passed on to her at an early age by her Italian grandmothers, who taught her the secrets of authentic flavors and traditional dishes, as well as by a whole family of restaurateurs and enthusiasts for excellent gastronomy. The name Bistrot de l'Hoste is in fact a tender tribute to her mother, who ran a guest house. In other words, sharing is an integral part of Pascale's DNA. Today, the café-restaurant has become a veritable meeting place for the villagers. Winegrowers gather here at dawn to share a coffee, while the counter gradually fills up with construction workers, old-timers and travelers passing through. Here, people chat, laugh, gossip and, above all, enjoy good food and good times together. Pascale has passed on her passion to her son Thomas, who grew up in Domazan. After a rich experience abroad and in prestigious French addresses, he returns to his roots with his partner Anastasia, who warmly welcomes you. Behind the counter, he turns the bistro into a living space where he creates original cocktails: the refreshing "Italicus sour" - with a hint of Italian bergamot -, the exotic "Caïpirinha", the sparkling house creation, his "Cocktail bistrot" - basil, yellow lemon juice, house raspberry coulis, Vodka, Perrier - or the most gourmand, the "Expresso Martini" - Vodka, Kahlua, coffee liqueur, Baileys, coffee-. Behind the piano, he delights the taste buds. Like the ambience, the cuisine is family-style, generous and entirely homemade, featuring fresh seasonal vegetables. Undeniably Italian-influenced, healthy and tasty. The daily specials change daily, while the menu is renewed every month. Among the specialties, we recommend the semi-cooked tuna in virgin sauce, with tomatoes and local olive oil, accompanied by snow peas, peas and carrots. You can also try the tender, flavorful onglet de boeuf, or the genuine Caesar salad prepared according to the rules of the art, with home-made breaded chicken that will delight fans of authentic recipes. Mère Maury's ravioles from Romans, stuffed with summer white truffles or basil, are a pure delight. Gourmets won't be outdone by the desserts: strawberries in elegant pavlova or simply with homemade whipped cream, artisanal Ardèche ice creams... The bistro's specialty: lavender ice cream, garnished with pine nuts and lavender honey, with a light whipped cream (no need to tell you it's homemade, right?). The bistro has not one, but two shaded terraces! The first, in front of the bistro, is typically Provençal, with its pretty fountain shaded by plane trees. Facing the town hall, you can feel the soul of the village as you listen to the gentle murmur of the water... La dolce vita is just around the corner. The second is on the charming patio. Here, you can enjoy a quiet glass of wine, or savour a meal while soaking up the Italian atmosphere radiating from the ochre walls. The completely renovated interior features superb moldings, in-house lighting and a unique creation: a wall of 3,000 corks by Thomas, which sits behind the bar. The family has preserved and rejuvenated the 200-year-old counter, recalling the charm of the bistros of yesteryear. The little extra: concert evenings once a month. If you're also a fan of karaoke and like to sing along, there's a special evening for you once a month. Every first Sunday of the month, a delicious brunch is served from 11am to 4pm.
