Starting from Falaise to reach Jumièges, this new 265 km itinerary crosses the Auge country to link it to the Seine. It follows the Risle valley and offers you an immersion in the land dotted with stud farms where the horse is king. On this itinerary, you will have the opportunity to wander on paths that will lead you to some of the high tourist places of the territory such as the Castle of Falaise, Orbec and the source of the Orbiquet, Broglie and the valley of the Charentonne, the Abbey of Bec Hellouin, the Forest of Montfort sur Risle, Aizier and its point of view on the Seine but also the Forest of Brotonne and the Abbey of Jumièges. A real bridge between the territories, it will be possible from now on through this network of great equestrian routes to reach the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel from the Seine-Maritime.

The Orbiquet marks the departure point of the sources loop which takes you to the confines of the Pays d’Auge, across undulating and sheltered paths, over which mother nature unveils some of her finest landscapes.

The Chevauchée du Pays d'Auge à la Seine follows the Risle valley, immersing you in a land dotted with stud farms, where the horse is king. Stage 5: Orbec - Broglie This part of the circuit takes you to the pretty village of La Folletière Abenon, where the Orbiquet rises. The Conseil Départemental has helped to classify the site as a "sensitive natural area" by developing and enhancing the area around the spring and restoring the wine press.

This old little town, located on a former Roman road in the Risle valley in the Pays d'Ouche, is an ideal place for a walk and a history lesson. Its industrial past made it renowned: ironwork and the production of pins and needles. Its architectural heritage is also significant with two churches, including one that dates back to the 10th century, two chateaus, a washhouse, typical houses, etc. and the recently improved banks of the river Risle which invite visitors for a family walk.

La Verdoyante, a 200 km cycle route linking Noues-de-Sienne (Saint-Sever-Calvados) to Lisieux, takes you from Orbec, a charming little town of character, to Lisieux, a major pilgrimage site dedicated to Sainte Thérèse. This bucolic itinerary takes you through the rolling countryside of the Pays d?Auge, with its orchards, hedgerows and half-timbered houses, for a soothing interlude of heritage, spirituality and the gentle Norman way of life.

La Verdoyante, a 200 km cycle path linking Lisieux to Noues-de-Sienne (Saint-Sever-Calvados), has a section that runs between Orbec, a charming village with half-timbered houses, and Livarot, famous for a local cheese produced at the Graindorge cheesemaker. Head along peaceful roads lined with forests, bocage hedgerows and typical Pays d'Auge farms, and get the real feel of Normandy's rural heritage and local produce. An ideal outing if you love nature and age-old traditions!

If you enjoy family hikes the Lême Trail, both peaceful and mysterious, is a good pick for you. In an intimate area characterized by a glade in the middle of the forest, a ghost river and a chapel that used to be named Notre-Dame-du-Désert are part of the wonders found along the way.

La Ferrière is a lovely little village with typical streets, small washhouses and beautiful Norman houses. The market hall on the square dates back to the 14th century. It holds a market every Sunday morning. The 12th century church has an elegant bell tower. Temporary exhibitions are organised in the former renovated tanneries. The village is immersed in a peaceful and joyous atmosphere. And listen very carefully, you might hear wind instruments...

In the heart of the Norman countryside, the picturesque village of La Ferrière-sur-Risle conceals an unexpected exhibition hall. Restored to its former industrial style and located in an old leather factory, the Cultural Centre welcomes numerous talented artists (painters, sculptors, photographers, etc.) as part of its programme of temporary exhibitions.

Before emerging at La Folletière-Abenon, the Orbiquet is believed to be fed by at least two underground watercourses, ensuring a steady flow and cool water even in summer. The tranquillity of the spot and the clarity of the water are frequently disturbed by cave divers exploring the underground passages. The site, which is freely accessible, features the remains of an old mill, a wash house, a restored wine press and a picnic area. Dogs must be kept on a lead and there are no rubbish bins on site; please take your rubbish away with you.

The library is run by volunteers and the books are renewed every 6 months thanks to the bookmobile.

The church’s striking 15th century tower, topped with a 16th century belfry is it’s most original feature. Rebuilt after pillaging during the Hundred Years' War, then extended in the 16th century, and restored in the 19th century, Orbec’s Church of Notre-Dame boasts fine Renaissance stained glass windows.

The guided tour offers an insight into the history of the small mill dating back to the 12th century, - A permanent exhibition, ‘The Golden Age of the Orbiquet Mills’, provides an opportunity for discussion and commentary as you discover the role of the Orbiquet mills in economic and social life during the 19th century. - A demonstration of the “water-lifting machine” and its water jets. A selection of videos will allow you to follow the restoration work, as well as introductions to the artists featured in the temporary exhibitions; from 23 July to 9 November, come and discover the surprising paintings of Olivier de Rivaz

After a stroll around Orbec's historic lanes, l'Orbecquoise is the ideal place for a gourmet break.
