At the start of this walk, you will admire the church of Moulis, the sarcophagi discovered by chance during work under the road, the traces of the passage of an ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela and the Château Pey Berland. Then, you will discover the vineyards of the famous châteaux of the Moulis appellation: châteaux Clarke and Anthonic. Then, the curious cross of Guitignan will mark the end of this walk. The Balades à Roulettes® (BR®) are short, quiet walks, with a pushchair or a small bicycle, or adapted for people with reduced mobility (in a wheelchair), proposed by the French Federation of Rambling of the Gironde.

On the Grand Riou trail in Listrac-Médoc. This easy 14 km loop leads through vineyards and forestry in Listrac, the heart of the Médoc, at the highest point of the peninsula, between Bordeaux and Lesparre from south to north, and between Lamarque and Carcans from east to west. From châteaux to hamlets, there are a few pleasant surprises along the way, which takes place mainly on vineyard paths or forest tracks.

Fort Médoc, like the Blaye citadel and Fort Pâté, is one of three defensive elements designed by Vauban to lock down the estuary. This is the Verrou Vauban, listed as one of Vauban?s fortifications on UNESCO?s World Heritage List. The site is suitable for the reproduction of amphibians, dragonflies and birds. A trained eye will enable you to spot some rare species: the marsh copper, the estuarine angelica, the wild orchid or the charming otter and the European mink! From Cussac-Fort-Médoc, the Amadour path leads to Fort Médoc. Classified as a Historical Monument, this iconic site in Gironde was built by Vauban in 1689. This structure is part of the Vauban Lock, a unique defensive triptych also consisting of the Citadel of Blaye and Fort-Pâté. The route then passes through Lamarque, the gateway to the Médoc, where maritime shuttles connect the two banks of the estuary. The journey continues inland, through the famous village and vineyard of Margaux, up to Le Pian-Médoc, the final Médoc stop.

The Merlaut family works for the development of the estate while ensuring respect for its history. The castle has been listed as a historical monument since 2012. Wine-cultural and fun routes are offered from 3 years old, with Alice, daughter of the owner, who is involved in developing this brand new and unique offer in the Gironde region. This year, activities will be offered in the heart of the property (cellar, park and castle) which will allow you to discover it at the same time.

Built in 1855 by Henri de Mauvezin, the Château has an elegant facade dominated by a bell tower. Its vineyard, of approximately 42 hectares, is arranged in an amphitheater on the slopes of the “Puy de Menjon”, the highest point of the Médoc with its 43 m. Upon arrival, admire the elegance of the Château surrounded by the vines. A professional guides you through the concrete vat built by the father of the current owner, Jean Chanfreau. He then shows you the semi-underground cellars built in the 17th century and then improved over time. The visit ends with a commented tasting of red wines from the Listrac and Moulis appellation and white wine: Le Cygne du Château.

Château Chasse-Spleen is a prestigious winery in the Bordeaux vineyard, classified in 1932 as an Exceptional Grand Cru in the smallest appellation in the Médoc : Moulis-en Médoc The property is spreading over 103 hectares in red and 4 hectares in white. Long owners, the Gressier sold it in 1912 to a German family who made it a well-known brand in Nothern Europe. The war dispossessed them and a family of Landes foresters bought it. In 1976, Chasse-Spleen was sold to Jacques Merlaut, a well-known wholesaler. In 2000, he entrusted one of his grand daughters : Céline Villars. The aromatic expressions of the wines are expressed by silky tannins and great elegance.

Included in the very first edition of the Guide Féret (1850) under the name “Puy de Minjon (Hugon)”, Château Anthonic is one of the oldest estates of the Appellation Moulis-en-Médoc. As a property of some standing, it was designated “Cru Bourgeois Supérieur” in the 1932 classification of the Crus Bourgeois of the Médoc. Today the Château’s vineyards extend over some 30 hectares, mostly planted on the favourable clay-limestone soils of the Moulis plateau. These soils are complemented by parcels of sandy-clay and Garonne gravel which add complexity to this unique terroir. Situated between Margaux and Saint Julien, Moulis-en-Médoc is one of the six communal appellations of the Médoc, a region situated to the North-west of Bordeaux that enjoys an international reputation for excellence.

The origin of Château Biston-Brillette goes back to the early 19th century, when Mr. Biston, owner of a few hectares of vineyards, decided to associate his name with the locality called Brillette in order to personalize his production. Nowadays, It is Serge and Jean-Paul Barbarin who welcome you and present you the 25 hectares of Château Biston-Brillette before showing you the cellars, a long building with stone walls and wooden frame.   After tasting the typicality of the wines, join the nearby Châteaux route to continue your discoveries.

The mill of Tiquetorte is located on the banks of the Jalle de Moulis in the Médoc. This old watermill still has its millstone. Tiquetorte is the deformation of "Artiguetorte". Already in the 17th century, the parish registers used either Tiquetorte or Artiguetorte to name the mill. Artigue in langue d'oc is the correspondent of essart in langue d'oïl to designate medieval clearing areas and " torte " means twisted. The mill is built on a canalised part of the Jalle, the old bed only ensuring the evacuation of the overflow. The mill itself, as well as the lower part of the dwelling house, are of high period, at the latest of the 16th century.

Picnic area is located near the Moulin de Tiquetorte on the banks of the Jalle in the shade of the oaks. You will be able to enjoy a short break in the shade with family or friends and spend a pleasant and friendly time.

In 1963, Marcel Chanfreau bought this estate and it is his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who today ensure the family continuity. This magnificent vineyard, installed on a slope with steep slopes on the highest point of the Médoc, has successfully crossed the 20th century. This privileged situation allows a beautiful precocity of the grapes, pledge of “greedy” wines which know how to age wonderfully. Classified Cru Bourgeois Supérieur in 1932 and 2003,and then “Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel” in 2020 Château Lestage continues to be part of this beautiful family. Always concerned with environmentally friendly viticulture, the Chanfreau family has opted for practices aimed at sustainable and reasoned viticulture inspired by the Cousinié method and has obtained the Terra Vitis and HVE certifications.

An easy initiative regarding our wine offer: Château Chasse-Spleen, Héritage de Chasse Spleen, Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux. As for the snacks, they come from a maximum distance of 200 kilometres (=124 miles) (the nearby departments Landes, Périgord, Charentes and Pyrénées), homemade gravlax duck breast fillet, Kintoa ham from Les Aldudes, pure duck dry sausage, walnut cheese by the Echourgnac abbey sisters, sheep’s cheese from the Basque country mountain pastures and homemade foie gras.

Our wine bar is ready for wine, art and garden lovers. Seating for 25. The proposals are deliberately locavore: Ham from Aldudes, sheep from the Basque Country and home-made foie gras with Sauternes.
