A walk to discover Rozelieures. This village of 161 inhabitants is a place of patriotic pilgrimage. In 1914, it played both a dramatic and historical role as it was here that the German army suffered its first major failure.

A walk to discover St-Rémy, proposed by the "Tourism" working group of the Communauté de Communes du Bayonnais and the association Anim'Crevéchamps. This village is, as its name suggests, surrounded by forests. You have to cross or walk along them to access them. Burned, then razed by the First World War, it is a village entirely rebuilt to the "best" of what happened in the 1950s.

The departmental committee of cycling tourism and Meurthe-et-Moselle Tourism offers a large "round trip" bike circuit linking the hill of Sion-Vaudémont to Lunéville. You will cross Xirocourt, Bayon, Gerbéviller, Rozelieures and its mirabelle plums, Chamagne... and you will travel in the Vosges department.

Thanks to the FRPP for the creation of this hike and for the work done by its teams throughout the year to mark out and maintain these paths. A panoramic path with magnificent views of the Moselle Valley, the blue line of the Vosges, the Colline de Sion and the Saintois. There are also many cultural and natural attractions to discover: churches, wash houses, fountains, the Canal de l'Est, ponds and the Moselle. This looping trail can start at various places: at the car park of the Les Iles campsite in Charmes, at the car park of the Socourt village hall, on the Place des Chanoinesses in Avrainville or in front of the town hall in Florémont. This circuit is marked with a red disc. From the campsite in Charmes, follow the Canal de l'Est which leads you to the Paquis ponds. Then, cross the D157 and you will arrive in the charming village of Socourt. As you climb the slope of the path leading to the heights of the village, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Moselle valley, the Canal de l'Est and the neighbouring villages. As you keep walking, you will gradually discover the surrounding nature, with its local flora and fauna, which is worth looking at. After passing over the RN 57, continue on your way to Avrainville. As you enter this village, take time to look at the fountains and old farmhouses that make up the village. Then, by taking the rue Eugène Jeandin, you will head towards Florémont, a charming village built into the hillside. Here again, you can discover old buildings, such as the Church of Saint Basle from 1789, but also a presbytery, a stone wash house and a crossroads cross from the 15th century. Finally, by taking the hillside path, you will cross the RN 57 again, to return to the town of Charmes, passing by old spinning mills. You will then return to the starting point.

After Charmes, the Voie Bleue winds its way along a magnificent greenway along the Canal des Vosges. The remains of the industrial heritage linked to the textile industry are clearly visible at this stage, especially with the old red-brick spinning mill in Nomexy, or the imposing roundhouse in Thaon-les-Vosges. You arrive peacefully at the port of Épinal, nicknamed the “Cité des Images” because of its museum, the largest collection of popular images in France. Charmes: Wild Moselle, bird and beaver watching Chatel sur Moselle: 10th century fortress, the most important in Lorraine, can be visited by reservation. Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

Rich in the Gallo-Roman past of Arlon, the museum houses an impressive collection that bears witness to the daily life of this period.One of the peculiarities of the museum is its imposing and rich lapidary collection, composed of several dozen fragments of ancient funerary monuments.These blocks and the objects from Roman craftsmanship will teach you more about daily life at that time.

Located in the heart of Lorraine between Nancy and Epinal, amid orchards filled with mirabelle plum trees, Rozelieures has a tourist attraction that is the only one of this kind in Lorraine - the "Maison de la mirabelle" (Mirabelle Plum Centre). The Grallet family, which has been enthusiastically promoting mirabelle plums for 5 generations, welcomes visitors to a high-quality information center where they can watch a film on a giant screen (in French, English and German) and find out some of the family’s production secrets in the distillery. Visitors can also use a giant plum to work out their weight ... in numbers of mirabelle plums ! Moreover, the Tasting Room contains a wide range of mirabelle plum products.

This garden was created by the landscape gardener Jacques Couturieux. He associates with a secular box tree path, shrubberies and perennial plants. Open from May to September (Guided tour ON ASK).

At 30 kilometers south of Nancy, Froville's priory is a unique place in Lorraine : the romanesque church dates back to eleventh century and its cloister was buit in the fifteenth century. It's also open to visitors and every year, there are many concerts and events like the prestigious sacred and baroque music Festival.

At the way out of Rozelieures village, on the 22D road to go to Saint-Boingt, the French Military Cemetery has been built to remind the "Battle of Rozelieures". This Military Cemetery remembers the victory of french Army, the first since the beginning of 1st World War, in Rozelieures on 25th August 1914. It contains 218 individual graves, 2 collective graves with 21 dead bodies inside, and 2 monuments that contain together 915 dead bodies ; that means in the Cemetery of Rozelieures a whole of 1 154 dead bodies, with 783 not identified soldiers. A central path rise to the war memorial, on which is engraved in golden letters the writing "TO THE WINNERS OF ROZELIEURES". Open every days in the year. In the village, the Rozelieures church has a stained-glass window that also call to mind this violent battle during the 1st World War.

This site shows a monument with memorial plaques to remember the Lorraine's Victory. Rozelieures is indeed the place where french Army has won its first great victory since the beginning of Fisrt World War. On the 25th August 1914, german soldiers have tried to invade France between Rozelieures and Saint-Rémy-aux-Bois, in order to get over the place nammed "La trouée de Charmes". But the french Army has resisted victoriously, that is what has allowed to slow down the ennemy invasion. The monument is accessible every days in the year.

A superb landscaped park, covering more than 16 hectares, was laid out in the 19th century by Bertault, with a Louis XIII Pavilion and a grotto with a monumental flight of steps decorated with statues and seashell mosaics (17th century). At the Chateau of Gerbéviller, equally popular are the Palatinate Chapel, the vegetable garden with its various “rooms” and the 1900 garden paying homage to the Nancy School. Following the valiant resistance of the French army to the enemy attack on the Mortagne bridge, German units looted and burned the town of Gerbéviller, while massacring many civilians who remained there.

The estate of Gerbéviller welcomes you in summer every week ends, or during great annual events. The Nymph (a decorated cave with monumental flight of steps, also with statues and seashell mosaics, from the 17th century), the Louis 13th detached house, the "en chambres" gardens (vegetable garden with its various “rooms”), the Palatinate Chapel, the viewpoint to Mortagne valley, are one of the most pleasant setting in this country. Located in the center of the Mortagne valley, the Chateau of Gerbéviller has one of the most beautiful landscaped park of France, designed around 1816 by Louis-Martin Berthault. Since 1737 this Chateau has belonged to family De Lambertye, and belongs now to family D'Arenberg. Nowadays, the Prince Charles D'arenberg still lives in this Chateau. That's why the free guided tour is only outside : the "en chambres" gardens and the 1900 garden (paying homage to the Nancy School). The natural site of the remote du Plain in Damelevières, a former meander of the Meurthe, is home to a diversity of wetlands, including a forest of European interest. A wetland is a space where water is significantly present for at least part of the year and where vegetation, where it exists, is characteristic. This type of environment is of major interest in the water cycle. In particular, it performs the important functions of flood control and water purification. On the ENS du Plain, the remote, the wet meadow, the alluvial forest, the ponds and the reed beds are the different habitats that make up the wetland. The remoteness of the Plain is classified as a fishing reserve by prefectoral decree (fishing prohibited from 1 February to 30 April).

The Military Cemetery at Gerbéviller, built in year 1920 at the same time as the neighbouring german cemetery, hold the dead bodies of 2 164 french soldiers. Those men have been killed in the neighbourhood between 1914 and 1918, in the main they died during the "Battle of Lorraine" which have take place from mid August to September 1914. A central war memorial overhang this Military Cemetery. It is a place to stand in silence about 1st World War, with its view on the country-side with trees around. The French Military Cemetery is accessible freely, every days in the year.

in the centre of Blainville-sur-l'Eau, "La Flambée" offers take-away pizzas only, every evening from Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays).

Near the town hall, the Restaurant "Au Maréchal Gourmand" offers home-made cooking with local products. The Restaurant also has menus for children.
