Musical stroll with the "Voix du Sud", a bucolic stroll through the rounded hillsides of Gascony to discover the vineyard and its ancient vineyard huts.

From villages to viewpoints, during this walk you will be able to see the valleys of the Gers and the Garonne, the wide horizons of the Brulhois area, from East to West and the hills of Gascony to the South. This tour will make you discover the vineyard huts, built in the commune of Astaffort between 1880 and 1950. They belonged to the inhabitants of the village, shopkeepers, teachers, roadmenders, craftsmen, notables and farmers. When one left for the vineyard, one spent the day and sometimes the night there. The hut served as a shelter and a place to live for the winegrowers and the draught animals, cows or horses, as well as a shed for the tools and equipment specific to this crop. Some were of classical construction, in local stone, others in brick, dry earth or wood, depending on the means or personality of the owner.

This easy circuit starts in the plain before climbing the hillsides planted with vines and woods. On the way back, you will pass over the lake of Goulens.

From the top of the rounded hills of Cuq or Fals, vast views open up over the hillsides of Gascony. Along the river Gers, this trail offers a fresh route along the shady banks of the river. The wings of the Cuq windmill and the fortified Roques water mill will guide you and you can also admire the built heritage that tells the story of the agricultural life of yesteryear: old Gascon houses, estates with beautiful residences flanked by towers, small vineyard huts and dovecotes, will enliven the landscape throughout the walk.

Marmont-Pachas, a village without a town, is notable for its church with a round, tapering stone bell tower. This is where this hike starts, through very open, rounded hillsides, which accompanies the pilgrims of St-Jacques, from the Aouillès farm to the old cemetery near Curton.

Built on a hillside overlooking the confluence of the Gers and Garonne rivers to the north, this village grew up around a Cluniac priory dating from the 11th century.

Discover the medieval streets before getting lost on the steep hillsides from where you will see the Gers valley, the Garonne plain and perhaps by chance the Pyrenees. This village with a rich heritage was an important medieval town thanks to its inland waterways on the Gers and the Garonne. First door of Gascony, its history was marked by the arrival of illustrious guests. Pope Urban II went there in May 1096 and consecrated the heart of the Church of Saint-Martin, today classified as a Historic Monument. Archbishop Bertrand de Goth, future Pope Clement V, stayed there in the 14th century. Jeanne d'Albret, Queen of Navarre, stopped here on 15 January 1572 on her way to Paris for the wedding of her son, King Henry IV of France; the latter came in his turn on 16 August 1576, at a time when the Layracaise city was a stronghold of Protestantism in Agenais.

On this rugged circuit in the hills of Gascony, you can accompany pilgrims walking to Santiago de Compostela or horsemen following the footsteps of Henri IV in Albret.

There are many viewpoints along this hike in the south of the department. From the top of the rounded hills, the Agenais to the north and the Gers to the south are visible.

This small circuit, starting from a typical bastide village built in the 13th and 14th centuries, offers no difficulty, but requires great vigilance when crossing the departmental roads. The vineyards of the Brulhois and the plum orchards of Ente share the cultivated area.

In the commune of Astaffort, this character house with its lovely wooded garden and large swimming pool is ideal for getting together with family or friends. The 250 m² building is adjacent to the owners' house.

In the Middle Ages and under the Ancien Régime, Astaffort had all the attributes of a fortified place surrounded by walls and flanked by towers. The medieval ramparts have now disappeared. There are only a few discreet remains mixed with buildings from later periods which also deserve attention. Do not miss the 2 churches of the village: Sainte-Geneviève and Saint-Félix. The fortified town of Caudecoste stands in the Garonne valley. The village dates back to the 10th century and its charter dates from the 13th century. The town follows a rather irregular orthogonal plan, but boasts an impressive town square where the half-timbered houses sit upon wooden stilts.

This 11th century Clunian priory is situated on the hillsides of the Garonne Valley near Agen, on the pathways of St James’ Way. The priory displays several interesting column capitals decorated with narrative scenes and some unusual pulpits.
