This loop takes in some ‘hidden’ villages and hamlets with an exceptional heritage, including the Ourjout chapel in Bordes with its 12th-century frescoes. A walk along the Biros soulane to discover the old marble quarry, where marble was cut using the straight step method and helical wire sawing. The route offers panoramic views from the Col de la Core to the Col de Nédé.

Hike from the last hamlet of Bethmale to Lake Bethmale. You'll follow ancient paths with low stone walls.

You set off from the pretty little village of Cescau to reach the chapel of St-Michel de Loutrein (listed site), with its panoramic views of the high Castillonnais mountains and villages. Park in the car park at the bottom of the village of Cescau (play area and wash-house).

The former marble quarry dominates the valley and offers a magnificent view of the high peaks of the Castillonnais. You'll also discover the orri, an ancient dry-stone shelter for shepherds. The trail can also be explored on snowshoes.

A pleasant family hike above the village of Argein. This trail takes in the architecture of the Juncalas barns, once used to store hay. 00h -From the church square, turn left, heading east, along the Houraou path, part of the Chemin de St Jacques (GR78). After 200 m, near a wash-house, go back up the Chemin du Pouech for 100 m, then take a wide, flat track parallel to the D618 for about 1 km. 00:20 - Leave the GR and take a path to the left. Above the first ruined barn, the path continues flat to the small “Vignat” stream. It then continues east and north through the woods for 20 minutes. It doesn't take long to reach the first Granges de Juncalas. 1h00 - Towards the end of the hamlet (second group of barns), turn right and then left on the “Poujaou” path, which leads to the Paleraze plateau. Paleraze plateau, which offers a remarkable panorama. For the return journey, take the carriage road downhill: at the first crossroads on the right, take the second turning on the left back to the path you took at the start.

Lovely loop hike through beautiful countryside. The views are varied and magnificent. Take a long look at the north face of Mont Valier, pastures as far as the eye can see and beautiful lakes.

A family walk along the heights of Lac de Bethmale, taking in the Etang d'Ayès via the Cirque de Campuls, where the animals gather during the transhumance before leaving for the summer pastures. Please note the road closed from 1/11 to 1/06

The Tour Sainte Catherine offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Balaguères valley and the high peaks of the Castillonnais. This vestige, visible from afar, is the only evidence of a castral dating from the 12th to 13th centuries.

Accompanied by a Pass'enGers guide, you will start the day with a 4 km hike (80 m cumulative elevation gain) on the A p'Art trail. This course is punctuated by works of art in the heart of nature and offers a beautiful panorama of the Gers hills. At the end of the hike, you will discover the history of this picturesque village where wooden houses and brick architecture compete in elegance, as well as the architecture of the abbey-church redesigned by Viollet-Le-Duc. At lunchtime, a gourmet picnic awaits you, consisting only of local products: duck and black pork terrines, vegetarian tartines, melon, floc de Gascogne and craft beers, Côtes de Gascogne wine, apple juice, biscuits... A stopover on the GR10, the Tour du Biros or the Passaran loop, the Eylie gîte d'étape welcomes all overnight hikers. In the heart of the Pyrenees, at the end of the Couserans, in the Biros valley, at an altitude of 1000m, on the GR10, the Eylie stopover gîte welcomes all overnight hikers. The refuge is located in the Mont Valier nature reserve, an iconic Couserans peak in the heart of the Ariege Pyrenees Regional Nature Park. In the midst of this unspoilt, wild mountain landscape, after a 4-hour walk along the cross-border GR from the Pla de La Lau car park, we welcome you to the ‘Les Estagnous’ mountain refuge. As soon as you arrive, you can introduce yourself to the warden(s) and discuss the ‘welcome arrangements’ (obviously you have booked your overnight stay and/or meals in advance). Once you've had a rest and taken in the exceptional views, you'll go through the hikers‘ entrance to settle in according to the wardens’ advice and, last but not least, you won't miss dinner!
