Located a few kilometres from Soulac-sur-Mer, this route offers a diversity of landscapes: maritime pine forests, marshes.. The itinerary that we propose to you borrows several types of ways: streets in the city center, a cycle track, a forest road and a forest road in limestone. There is no continuous signposting throughout the walk, but the paths are logical and the description of the itinerary will be enough to guide you.

This easy loop combines two UNESCO World Heritage sites. After a visit to the Basilique Notre-Dame-de-la-fin-des-Terres, the tour takes you through the narrow streets of the pretty seaside resort, from the colorful houses of Soulac to the bunkers of the Atlantic Wall in the village of Les Arros. You walk along the beach, with the Cordouan lighthouse towering over the horizon. You'll ride along a dune line populated by oyats, laurel, yucca, broom and arbutus. A must: pedal during the yucca flowering period in summer, or between the red arbutus in autumn, breathing in the fragrance of the plants.

The Cordouan lighthouse, located at the mouth of the Gironde estuary, is the only lighthouse on the French coast still manned, the oldest still in operation and the only one in the world open to visitors. An absolutely unique site, it offers an exceptional view of the Gironde and the coasts of Royandy and the Médoc as a reward for climbing the 311 steps leading up to the lantern. Its classification as a Monument Historique in 1862, the same year as Notre-Dame de Paris, speaks volumes for the beauty of its castle-like architecture. The rocky islet on which it rests, completely covered at high tide, shelters an environment rich in plant and animal species. At low tide, the guardians welcome visitors, inviting them to discover this magical world. Without doubt, an unforgettable experience.

The Pointe de Grave is the extreme north of the Médoc, between Bordeaux and the Atlantic Ocean. It is located at the mouth of the Gironde Estuary, opposite the town of Royan. This geographical configuration, unique in France, makes it of great ornithological interest during pre-marital migration: the "funnel" effect concentrates the birds that migrate along the coast and those that, further inland, are reluctant to cross the estuary and follow the bank to its end. These two flows then converge above the Pointe de Grave before crossing the estuary in the direction of the Charente-Maritime and, beyond, towards Northern Europe and Siberia LPO Aquitaine coordinates the scientific monitoring of the migration, carried out every year from March to May. More than a hundred species are observed during the three months of monitoring.
