The GRP® Tour de la presqu?île du Cotentin mostly follows the GR®223 along the coast. It differs in the southern part, crossing the marshes to complete the Tour du Cotentin in 15 days. On this stage, the route continues through bocage and marshland to Picauville. In 1944, the commune was the westernmost objective of the American paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne, who built an airfield there to provide air support for operations in the Cotentin region. Faced with solid resistance from the German 91st Infantry Division, the Americans pounded the town until June 13. By the time the German forces evacuated, three-quarters of the commune had been destroyed.

This family loop starting from the medieval castle of Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte, will lead you to a landscape with many faces: the moor of Rauville-la-Place, so often evoked in the work of the writer Jules Amédée Barbey d'Aurévilly.

This 15 km course is along the old railway line, lined with trees. The 11th century dungeon, still standing, is stubbornly defying time, as are the rumours of witchcraft that are said to still exist today. After considerable destruction during the war, the city was carefully restored.

This relatively easy circuit can be wet in the winter season. It is recommended to the unconfirmed public to practice it from May to October. It runs through the bocage in the Regional Natural Park of the Cotentin and Bessin marshes. When you head towards Colomby, just look at the large octagonal spire of its church in the distance, like a landmark in the landscape. This route tells the story of a village and its hamlets, rich in farms, manor houses, castles, small bridges and orchards.

Presentation Sink into the depths of the Cotentin bocage, protected by its hedges and brightened up by numerous small meandering streams. Plan to be enchanted at the "Cul de Fer" which, despite its name, offers you its calm and freshness. Risk to be tempted by a nap, rocked by the soft noise of the rivers ! Remarkable points on the route 0- The church Saint-Georges de Colomby is of a very pure Gothic style, without any alterations. It dates from the XIIIth and XIVth centuries and was completely restored at the end of the XIXth century. The altar is dated 1888 and the porch, added in the 15th century, precedes the whole on the west side 1- La Varangerie is a beautiful farm located just after the beginning of the circuit, in the village of Colomby. Others are visible in the surroundings: Manoir du Cul de fer, Bertranderie, Briquehoulle, Richemonnerie, Breuil farm and Bretonnière castle. 2- La Conseillère is one of the beautiful stone farms of Valognes. Take a look behind the imposing gate, located just after the hamlet of Roses. 3- The place called "Cul de Fer" joins two small rivers and "donkey bridges" which used to lead to the old mill. An enchanting place, shaded and planted with trees, ideal for a rest or a picnic. Worth the round trip of a few dozen meters. 4- The manor of Perques is a beautiful stone house with a massive turret. It probably guarded the paths which were once very frequented. 5- Boudosville is a hamlet remarkable for its architectural ensemble of old farms. Marked by a calvary at the entrance 6- Old lime kilns, where limestone was transformed into lime by heating it, on the right of the path. Nearby places of interest: City of Valognes: Labelled "City of art and history", member of the "Pays d'art et d'histoire du Clos du Cotentin" for its remarkable architecture. Hôtel de Beaumont in Valognes: built in the 18th century for the Count of Beaumont, this building is one of the famous mansions of Valognes Cider and Calvados Museum : rue du Petit-Versailles 50700 Valognes - Tel : 02 33 40 26 25 Calvados and cider are produced locally and their manufacture is presented in this museum. Cidreries of Saint-Joseph and Négreville: production of Norman cider, an alcoholic drink of 2% to 8% obtained from the fermentation of apple juice. Hémévez, east of Colomby, passing through Urville. A pretty village to visit with, in particular, its Gothic church of Notre Dame de l'Assomption, its remarkable furniture and statuary. A pretty private castle.

This easy family walk allows the discovery of the state-owned forest of Saint Sauveur le Vicomte and its preserved nature. You will cross a landscaped arboretum with its different species of trees and then follow a discovery trail. Take advantage of the walk in the forest to indulge in the pleasures of mushroom picking or simply admire the beautiful lights and colours of autumn.

A fifth circuit has been added to the cyclosport area, with this route in the Val de Saire. A little over a hundred kilometers on the clock, starting from the Château de Bricquebec on Benoît Cosnefroy?s training ground. Before reaching the coastline with Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue and Quinéville, the view from La Pernelle is well worth the effort: 1km at over 9%. Competitors should note that the record is set at 2min15? The second half of the route is more leisurely, taking you right into the heart of the Espace Historique de la Bataille de Normandie.

From Bricquebec, you can go on long stone or earth "hunts", bordered by hedges or situated on the edge of the woods. This circuit is aimed at a well-informed public and includes some beautiful "climbs" that will take you through the Bois de la Tombette. On the way back, a passage on the edge of the Bois des Roches will give you the opportunity to stop for a while to contemplate the megalithic monuments present on this site. This circuit goes through the Rocheville hill, famous for its prehistoric monuments as well as for its picturesque and legendary sites, formed by five groups of rocks.

Cécile BOUVAREL, painter and mosaicist, welcomes you to her peaceful, luminous world in the heart of the Cotentin region: a warm, refined, atypical gallery, which extends into a delightful little garden colored by her "Mosaïques Au Vent", where you can stroll and take a break. Everything comes out of her hands and her workshop, and the proposals abound! You'll find mosaics (in a very personal technique that has earned her recognition for her work), a selection of unique pieces for the home and garden (watercolors, lighting fixtures, original objects, Cotentin landscapes), as well as sacred art and sensitive Cotentin souvenirs. In this unique creative space, you'll find a mix of one-off pieces and a selection of quality reproductions (paintings, watercolors, maps, "mosaics in the wind", etc.). This artist, based in the heart of the Clos du Cotentin region, created the Feuille de la Liberté in Valognes, a monumental mosaic paying tribute to the Resistance (Place Jacques Lemarinel). She also published the book "Cotentin Mosaïque", which takes you on a poetic stroll around the Presqu?île, her home and inspiration for over twenty years. This year, in May-June, she will be exhibiting at the Grange de la Paix in Ste Mère Eglise, offering us a soothing journey in the image of her work: a delightful escape, both calm and joyful.

Situated in the family home of the author (1808-1889), this literary museum presents a rich collection of handwritten texts and letters, letters, original editions, portraits, photographs and personal souvenirs belonging to the author of Les Diaboliques (The She-Devils).

The Benedictine Abbey, founded in the 11th century, was mostly destroyed during the 19th century, but has been elegantly rebuilt since then. It has kept some important Roman remains.

A little girl’s dream... Vacant since 1742, the castle is sliding into oblivion, only the farm is still running, using the rooms as granaries. Put up for sale in 1980, the Lefol family, then farmers, bought up the entire property. Today, thanks to their eager farmer daughter Michèle, the restored castle has found its soul again.

Signposted from the D15 (Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte ? Portbail). This state-owned forest is one of the few in La Manche open to the public. Its interest is enhanced by the presence of an arboretum and trees of remarkable shape and age: beech, old holly, Scots pine... 1.8 km - 2h

Situated on the banks of the Ouve (or Douve), the small village of Longuerac (also called "Longrac" or "Longueracque") is an ancient port. The flotilla of the gabares (these flat-bottomed boats, whose length varies from 10 to 18 meters) stopped in this hamlet, which stretches on the edge of the marsh.
