Starting in Saint Martin de Villeréal, a village nestled in the countryside, this walk will first cross a limestone hill before descending into the valley of the river Dropt, home to many mills.

Biron: this castral village built around the castle, classified as a historical monument, welcomes you on these paths! Departure point: from the signpost at the bottom of the castle car park (motorhome service area), go up to the crossroads and follow the road to the left. After about 150m, go down to the left on a dirt track.

Having started in the valley of the river the Dropt, you have to climb a small hill before discovering the large water reserve of Lac du Brayssou. After you have walked around the lake, the monumental castle of Biron appears, when you are on top of the hill of Dropt Haut.

Village crossroads of the GR 36 and 636, Lacapelle-Biron offers you a circuit in a landscape of Périgord, forests of chestnut trees, oaks and hornbeams, stone walls with ochre tones...

An easy loop for young and old on wide paths in the heart of the forest between Lot-et-Garonne and Dordogne. You'll enjoy the peace and scents of this unspoilt natural environment.

Do not forget your binoculars for this walk on the banks of the lake Brayssou, where you can observe mallards, teals or whistling ducks from a shelter set up by the federation of hunters.

The forest surrounds Lacapelle-Biron, a village born in the 18th century from the impatience of the Marquis de Biron, who could not stand the noise of the market held at the foot of his castle.

Bernard Palissy, born in Saint-Avit-sur-Lède around 1510, was an apprentice glassmaker in Biron. He owes his fame mainly to his achievements in the field of architectural decoration (grottoes, fountains, stoves) and luxury tableware, which is characterized by different types of decoration: naturalist (the "rustic" and "jaspés"), but also figurative and ornamental (interlacing, leather, grotesques...). It was the perfection with which he reproduced animals, plants and rocks that made Palissy exceptional in the art of clay. His personal production merges with that of his sons and disciples, known as the Palissy school. A Huguenot, he was arrested in 1589 and locked up in the Bastille where he died the same year. His work was revived in the 19th century by imitators such as Charles Avisseau in Tours and Georg
