Take a tour of the Corrèze valley on this slightly hilly 22,500 km long cycle route. In the pretty town of Corrèze, the route begins with the passage of the emblematic Porte Margot. This beautiful structure is one of the proofs of the enthusiasm of this medieval town for the Renaissance. A little further on, the Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Pont du Salut awaits you, a beautiful curiosity enhanced by its rich natural setting. You continue your journey to Sarran where you will find President Jacques Chirac in his dedicated museum! There is an unexpected collection of gifts, some of which were received by the president. Sarran has another pleasant surprise in store for you with the Puy de Sarran. Culminating at 820m, it offers a breathtaking view of the Monédières massif and the Cantal mountains.

This hilly route allows you to enjoy the calm of the undergrowth of the Limousin forest and the peace and quiet of the isolated hamlets: Bessou, Deveix (panorama of the Corrèze valley and the hydroelectric power station at Bar), Hospital, a mineral setting in a green setting.

Starting from the village of Corrèze with its Renaissance houses, you will meander through undergrowth and meadows. Wash-houses and fountains at the edges of hamlets characteristic of the local architecture will punctuate your walk which you will finish by taking a part of the ancestral way linking the Monédières to Corrèze.

After having tasted the charms of the medieval city and crossed the heights of Neupont, you will plunge towards Corrèze and its capricious waters. You will appreciate the calm of the undergrowth and the wide grassy gaps. At the height of Brousse (panorama on the Monédières) you will take the direction of Paradis then that of the chapel of the Bridge of Salvation to join the village.

After walking through the narrow streets of the medieval town, you will reach the hamlet of Neupont and its bread ovens with their stepped roofs. You will then follow the path which, for centuries, has led to the mills that once lined the white waters of the Corrèze, the providence of the millers of yesteryear. You will return to the village via the remarkable site of the Pont de Salut chapel.

In this commune of the Millevaches Regional Nature Park in Limousin, granite is everywhere, a beautiful light rock spotted with black biotite mica. This beautiful circuit is punctuated by villages and small heritage sites: old chapel, crosses, wells and bakeries... Panoramas over the Monédières and passages through the undergrowth are the components of this pleasant and varied walk.

In an exceptional setting, this riverside trail with topical panels offers a walk that is accessible to all.From the departure sign, cross the D26 to reach the edge of the pond. Follow the water’s edge to Panel N°1 which tells the story of this body of water. Walk along the fence of the Domaine des Monédières. Continue beneath the trees.When you reach a meadow, walk along the right-hand edge. At the exit, continue to the right on a path that borders a hectare of beautifulland. Cross another field, and then turn right onto a duckboard that crosses the precious wetland area at the tail end of the lake (Panel N°2).At the end of the duckboard, continue to the right. Ancient chestnut trees stand guard over the path (Panel N°3). Go along the edge of a field (Panel N°4) and continue beneath the trees.At the end of the trail, go around the private property on the right and find the edge of the lake again, then follow the fence until you reach the road. On the D26, follow the dyke to find the car park.

Tinted with shades of green and touches of pink the Monédières landscape is revealed at the top of the puys.In the square, take the D16 towards Egletons and, before the cemetery, take the road on the right. Continue on the D135 on the right, leave the Plantade holiday centre on the right and continue.Take the forest track on the right. It leads through stands of coniferous trees and passes on the northern side of the Puy Bezin (in the 19th century, a chapel dominated the moorland at the top of the Puy Bezin; today, the heather has disappeared and so has the chapel).At the crossroads, continue straight ahead. The track climbs up the Puy d'Aubart (view of the Monédières: from the dry heath of the Puy de Gussanges, on the right, to the coniferous plantations of the Puy Charrin, on the left, passing through deciduous forests and meadows, this panorama presents the multiple facets of the evolution of the landscape) and descends the northern slope in a few bends.At the junction, go down the track to the right.In the bend, set off on the path to the right. It goes down through the undergrowth, then alongside the valley of the Plantade which runs through wet meadows (called pastures). Cross the stream to arrive at the entrance to Laborde. Continue by the road that goes up in the hamlet and go past the houses.Follow the path on the right for 200 m, then go up by the path on the left into the beech woods. Continue along the small road, then take the D16 to the right to find the starting point again.

The President Jacques Chirac Museum houses the 5,000 diplomatic gifts presented to the President between 1995 and 2007. Jacques Chirac in turn donated these gifts to the Corrèze Departmental Council. 1,000 of them are on display in the heart of the Visitor Reserve. In addition to this initial function, there is now a desire to show visitors what makes the President of the Fifth Republic who he is, and who he is as a person. This transformation began in 2023 with the reconstruction of the ‘Salon Doré’, the Presidents' office at the Elysée Palace, and continues today with the “Presidential Gallery”, where personal objects and 40 diplomatic gifts given to the 8 Presidents, from Charles de Gaulle to Emmanuel Macron, are on display. Temporary exhibitions, always new, are also on show.

At an altitude of 820 m, the Puy de Sarran, marked by its triple calvary, takes the form of a conifer-covered dome. It lies between the Pradines fault to the east and the Treignac fault to the west. From the summit, there's a wide view over the Corrèze and Auvergne mountains.

This cross, dating from the early 17th century, stands by the roadside in the village of La Fieyre. At the time, the workshops that had been producing crosses in the previous century had disappeared in the wake of the Wars of Religion, and were using local stone, in this case granite. Fleurdelisée, it features two crosspieces. The lower crosspiece supports two small figures.

Overlooking the Montane valley, the village grew up around a 12th-century church of Romanesque origin, with a magnificent Renaissance porch listed as a Historic Monument. Nearby, a restored bread oven is open to visitors. At the Vitrac service area, you'll find the memorial to the Resistance, whose design is unique in the world. To get to the memorial, take the A89 towards Clermont-Ferrand, exit at "Aire de Corrèze".

In the heart of the Monédières massif, in the Millevaches regional nature park in Limousin, the Jardin du Centaure offers organically grown and harvested products. Located in an unspoilt area of the Haute-Corrèze region, Jardin du Centaure supplies plants in a variety of forms: herbal teas, aromas, herbal salts, herbal sugars, herbal mustards, vinegars, etc. The plants are grown on around 1 ha or gathered from the surrounding area. They are harvested and sorted by hand.

Heather moors are dry moors made up of a low heather thicket (ash, ciliate, callune), with brooms, thorny gorse, juniper and blueberries. This type of heath developed with Neolithic clearings, followed by pastoralism. Until the beginning of the 20th century, 95% of the Monédières massif was covered with heather, ferns and junipers (compared to 20% today).

This communal oven, restored in 1987, houses a small collection of traditional peasant objects. With its redents and thatched roof, its appearance is atypical.

Former school in Rouffiat in the heart of Corrèze. The former school in Rouffiat, a small village between Corrèze and Sarran, is a large building that was renovated in 2018. The playground has been replaced by a large kitchen overlooked by a mezzanine. The classroom is now our dining room. On the ground floor: a large living/dining room, a fitted and equipped kitchen with a mezzanine, a bathroom with WC and shower. On the first floor: 4 bedrooms with 3 double beds (or 2 single beds) and one with a queen-size bed, a bathroom with WC and shower.
