Hiking trail "Cardalhac". Nicknamed “the little Nizza from Cantal", squeezed around its squat bell tower, the town of Maurs has retained the almost perfect circle shape given to it by its ramparts and which is now home to the welcoming Tour de Ville, built on the old moat. Take a stroll through its narrow streets with their southern flavour and discover its medieval architecture. Then head out into the surrounding area on the Cardalhac trail. You will appreciate the gentle landscape and the superb views over the Maurs Basin, the Mounts of Cantal, Lot and Aveyron. The interest of this themed trail, mainly in the undergrowth, lies in the creation of a dozen panels, placed along the route, on the marvellous world of bees and in the panoramas that you will contemplate along the way. Hiking trail "The Chapel of Notre-Dame du Pont". The interior walls of the Chapel of Notre-Dame du Pont are covered with magnificent frescoes from the 12th, 13th and 15th centuries. On the part of the path along the Rance, the river is superb, strewn with rocks and pebbles. Hiking trail "The glacial basin". The village is situated on a tongue of schist in the relief and dominates an ancient glacial valley on both sides. It is surrounded by a fortified enclosure called The Fort, the gate of which still remains. The route overlooks and skirts the glacial basin of Leynhac, a rare phenomenon in the Châtaigneraie. Hiking trail "The Causses trail" A small village perched on the remains of the old fortress, Montmurat is strongly influenced by the southern climate, which has given it an extraordinary flora: lily of the valley, boxwood, wild asparagus, vines and orchids. Take the time to stroll through the narrow streets of the village, the Mediterranean influenced architecture is remarkable. From the plateau (after the starting point, access on the D345), this path will also allow you to discover an exceptional 360° panorama of the Lot, Aveyron and Cantal. In a protected environment, this charming and characterful place, classified as a sensitive natural area, lends itself to relaxation. The Moulin du Fau estate consists of approximately 7 hectares of land located on the banks of the Rance, about 1 km from the centre of Maurs. This site includes an old grain mill and a barn, a complex network of feeder and diversion canals, a fish pond and meadows. It's very easy to walk around the pond (about 1 km).

Maurs is the southern version of Auvergne. It has a lilting accent and the town's appearance is more akin to its neighbours in Lot or Aveyron than to the other Cantal towns. It's not called the Little Nice of Cantal for nothing... The town is squeezed around the Abbey of St. Caesarius, a 14th century gothic vessel, and has retained the almost perfect circular shape of its ramparts. The abbey church contains the reliquary bust of Caesarius, a masterpiece of 12th century goldsmith's art, as well as a collection of beautiful wooden statues and sculpted stalls, unique in Auvergne. Saint-Constant and Fournoulès have been a single commune since 2016. Yet two very different atmospheres prevail: Saint-Constant looks a little like Aveyron, while Fournoulès has a more mountainous atmosphere.

The heart of the Châtaigneraie beats to the rhythm of the River Rance. It serves as a backdrop for the many cyclists who take the cycle route between Maurs and Marcolès, which is part of the Grande Traversée du Volcan à Vélo (“Crossing the Volcano”) or GT2V. This route follows the winding course of the river and offers plenty of coolness in summer. Its history has been shaped by mills, railways and hydroelectricity.

As in many Châtaigneraie villages, Le Trioulou has a pretty church and a picturesque castle with turrets. But there's something, or rather someone, you won't find anywhere else: Mélia the bee!

About 30 species of wild orchids are present on these few hectares which gather a quarter of the French flora and more than half of the Auvergne flora in orchids. The climate of the limestone mounds (former lake basin) located between Saint-Santin-de-Maurs and Montmurat is one of the mildest and driest in Cantal. These conditions give the landscapes, agriculture and natural environments a pronounced southern character. Free access on foot from the village of Saint-Santin-de-Maurs. The animal and plant species living on this Natura 2000 site are protected, so be careful.

Saint-Santin is an unusual village. It's hard to imagine driving through it, given its modest size, the fact that it is divided into two communes and straddles two départements and even two regions!

In Quézac, on our farm, we welcome you all year round, by reservation on 06 80 50 29 10 and share with you our passion for animals. We welcome abused, abandoned and other animals, and help you discover and learn about camelids. - stimulating communication between protection of natural spaces, bio diversity - educational farm and associated activities, sale of souvenirs and all other means likely to contribute to the realization of its corporate purpose. We'll also introduce you to camelids - camels, dromedaries, llamas and alpacas. Guided tour of the Sanctuary: you enter each enclosure, unique to the Cantal region, and you'll be able to get up close and personal the animals, discovering them and petting them if they wish because this is their home and we owe them our respect. You can bring pieces of carrot, but above all, no bread. The sanctuary is home to goats, pigs and ponies, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs and peacocks.

Entraygues Castle dates back to the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Various elements are included in the historic-monuments register such as the walls and roofs, beautiful carved doors, French painted ceilings, wallpapers... Outside, free visit of the fancy garden.

L'Auberge de Mourjou, with its restaurant and guest rooms, has been open since 18 March 2024. Daily menu (€19,90) from Monday 12pm to Friday 2pm. Chef Kara Asatryan's menu (€39) is available for lunch and dinner on Saturdays and lunch on Sundays. Booking recommended. The chef's menu consists of a choice of two starters, a choice of two main courses and a choice of two desserts. The menu changes every 2 weeks according to the season and her inspiration. You can also make the most of our shaded terrace in fine weather.

A good fairy seems to have bent over this inn, which offers an enthusiastic table where terroir and modernity go hand in hand! The inn also has a remarkable wine cellar. Lunch formula (€21) with starter+main course+dessert+1/4 wine and coffee. Nestled in a green setting, a true haven of peace, the Hôtel du Lac and its restaurant Ô Soleil Thaï offer you their Thai cuisine and their fusion cuisine, a nice mix of French and Thai flavors. In addition to the typical Thai dishes (which are not spicy), there are many French specialties and more specifically from Cantal such as blanquette and aligot sausages.
