The Manoir du Désert, listed as a Monument Historique in 1928, was built for the Le Danois brothers, a family of shipowners from Honfleur. It is representative of the noble architecture of the late Middle Ages in the Pays d'Auge. Its materials and structure bear witness to the skills and importance of the building at the time. The first floor is composed of a checkerboard pattern of limestone and flint. The upper floor is timber-framed. A staircase turret is attached to the main façade. The lookout room at the top was used to keep an eye on the Seine estuary. This room contains numerous marine graffiti. Owned by Mademoiselle TURGIS in the 1920s, it became the property of the City of Honfleur in the 1970s following a donation by the Société du Vieux Honfleur, Mademoiselle TURGIS's legatee. It was recently restored by the town in 2021. The manor house can only be visited on certain occasions. We offer one guided tour per month during the season (full price: 6 ? reduced price: 4 ?). Located 4km from Honfleur, the Bois du Breuil is one of the rare forests on the coastline and is open to the public. This forest covering 120 hectares is the property of the Conservatoire du Littoral (Coastal Conservancy). Impasse du Tripot "Au fil de l'eau Inaugurated in December 2013, this new space is an invitation to stroll, a haven of tranquility, right in the heart of Honfleur?s historic center. A blend of history, culture and strolls along the water, with a Zen touch that inspires serenity. Situated on a branch of the River Claire, the garden features a number of promontories and vantage points overlooking the river, all of which are showcased to maximum effect. This 7,000m² urban park was designed and laid out by various municipal departments: gardeners, masons, carpenters, electricians? The technical services teams were careful to reuse materials found on site to carry out the restorations, so that the low walls retain a vestige appearance. In fact, during the renovation work, remains of the old tanneries were uncovered. This activity was set up in this location to take advantage of the two streams. In the garden, you can now admire the dyers' tubs and a whole network of canals. Works by Annick Leroy Artist Annick Leroy was commissioned to create a series of works in connection with the site. In a town that has inspired so many artists, Honfleur?s mayor Michel Lamarre wanted to put art at the heart of this space, to give it an extra soul. Annick Leroy therefore created a mosaic fresco recalling the work of the guild of tanners and dyers. She also designed two fountain sculptures: -4 geese spitting water -a child with an umbrella and a giant mosaic-covered snail.
