Your next stop: Savournon, Hautes-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

Ce parcours passe dans la vallée, dans un paysage largement ouvert. Le tracé, principalement sur des pistes de campagne larges et sans difficulté, fait découvrir le milieu rural de Savournon. Au départ des halles, prendre la direction de l'église sur votre gauche, suivre la route balisé VTT N°13 jusqu’à l'école . La route D 21 vire à droite. La suivre encore 200 m et continuer toujours sur le GR en direction des Gonillons et du camping. Quitter la D 21 pour prendre à gauche. Laisser le GR et prendre à droite. Suivre à gauche vers la montagne d'Aujour et continuer ensuite tout droit vers la montagne. Après la petite bergerie, aux quatre chemins, descendre enfin sur la gauche ! Revenir sur l'itinéraire de l'aller en traversant le corps de ferme jusqu'au stop.

An easy and fairly shaded hike, along a tracks and wide paths, which allows you to discover the forest of the Saint-Genis cirque,and to enjoy the freshness of the Riou gorges. From the parking lot, follow the track going left. At the fence, continue straight on until the Pas de Jubéo. Follow the wide forest track which descends regularly, passing all the paths on the left. On the opposite slope, the track climbs slightly then descends, still in the shade. Turn right onto a small path ("Route Forestière du Château"), descend for 100 m to an intersection ("Saume Longe"). Follow the path on the right and descend into the Riou gorges. A bridge allows you to reach the other bank and, through a beautiful forest of Austrian black pines, go up to the Jubéo forest house, then to the parking lot.

This quite long hiking makes you walk around Saint-Genis Mountains Corrie from its ridges and balcony paths. There are no difficulties during this trail. From the parking lot, follow the path on your left. Step over the fence and reach « Le Pas de Jubéo ». Take a rocky path hiking up on your left to Sait-Genis Mountain side At the « sous le pas de l’Aup » signpost, you can do a roundtrip to the Roc de l’Esculier (1432 m): take the left path through broom flowers to reach the ridges. At the junction, follow « Colombier pass » on your right. Go on a track and after two hairpin bends, turn left towards Colombier pass (1151 meters). At Colombier pass, continue on your way and take the track heading straight to Lazer pass. At Lazer pass (1191 m), take a path on your left and reach the grazed ridge. Follow it until « Porte Sereine ». At « Porte-Sereine », take the path on your right and go down into a beeches woodland which transforms into a pine trees one. On your left, go down a path leading to a forest track until « Le Chastel » signpost. Follow the left track and at the « RF du château » signpost, take the path going down the slope towards the canyons and reach a junction a 100 meters further. Follow the right path leading to Jubéo’s parking lot. Cross over the Riou river by a small bridge and hike up again in a pine trees forest until Jubéo’s parking lot.

Parcours sur piste en sous-bois dans un décor de moyenne montagne. Aucune difficulté technique sur ce circuit qui fait découvrir une longue descente. Monter la piste principale à gauche. Profiter du sentier botanique pour faire connaissance avec la flore et la faune locale. A la pate d'oie, continuer la descente à droite. À l'épingle, prendre à gauche. Rester sur la piste principale (Route Forestière du Colombier). Poursuivre sur la piste principale sur la gauche. Prendre à droite pour entamer une longue descente sinueuse sur la Route Forestière des Lacs. Au carrefour, profiter d'une vue sur les plantations de pins d'Autriche limitant l'érosion. Prendre à droite. Après le réservoir, prendre à droite. Changer de vitesse, ça monte! De retour sur l'itinéraire de l'aller, prendre à gauche. Continuer tout droit jusqu'au parking de Jubéo. Au retour sur le parking de Jubéo, profiter des tables de pique-nique pour manger à l'ombre des pins et pour se rafraîchir à la fontaine.

Balade facile, au panorama fantastique sur le bassin du Buëch, les sommets du Dévoluy et les montagnes de Savournon. De la place publique de La Bâtie-Montsaléon, devant la mairie, monter dans le vieux village et zigzaguer dans les ruelles jusqu’au château. Le contourner par la gauche et suivre la piste qui longe le plateau de Marésieu pendant 1,5 km. Au bout du plateau, descendre à droite pendant 50 m, croiser une piste et poursuivre le sentier en lacets, pour partir à droite en suivant la courbe de niveau, en longeant les champs cultivés. Descendre ensuite à gauche sur une ancienne piste pour rejoindre le chemin goudronné (Chabestan / La Bâtie-Montsaléon).  Prendre cette route à droite pendant 1,3 km jusqu’à La Bâtie-Montsaléon.

Cette petite boucle cyclotouritique sans difficulté rayonne autour de la Bâtie-Montsaléon, ce petit village qui dort aujourd'hui sur le site d'une importance ville gallo-romaine. Le site a été plusieurs fois fouillé et identifié comme un des plus importants sur la voie romaine allant de Milan à Arles. Depuis la mairie de La Bâtie-Montsaléon, suivre la D148 direction Savournon jusqu'à l'intersection avec la D 48 A l'intersection de la D 148 avec la D 48, prendre à gauche pour passer le Col de Chaumiane puis continuer en direction de Chabestan. Suivre la route sur 4km jusqu'au croisement de la D 48 avec la D 49 Chabestan. Au carrefour, prendre la route du Villard gauche. Suivre cette route sur 3,5 km pour revenir jusqu'au parking de la mairie de La Bâtie-Montsaléon.

Circuit qui remonte les jolies Gorges du Riou puis continue sur une piste en sous-bois, pour finir sur un superbe single-track en balcon dans une ambiance provençale. Le retour se fait par les gorges comme à l'aller. A la mairie, suivre la route qui monte vers le village. Le sentier d'origine ayant subi un glissement de terrain, il est obligatoire de contourner cette zone. Pour cela, à l'entrée du vieux village, suivre la route en direction du cimetière. Dans la prochaine épingle de la route, prendre la piste de gauche. A la sortie du tournant, ignorer le sentier qui part à gauche (sentier privé - passage interdit) et continuer encore une 50aine de mètres. Délaisser la piste, en suivant le chemin à gauche qui longe un champ de lavande. Remonter le sentier jusqu'au sentier d'origine qui  remonte les gorges du Riou (pour le respect de l'agriculteur et pour conserver traverser ces terrains privés, merci de ne pas couper à travers champs, mais de bien le longer en suivant les balises. Autrement, cela abîme l'herbe qui sera fauchée et crée de nouvelles sentes : le passage entretient les traces dites "sauvages" et incite donc davantage le passage. Merci). Au poteau "Saume Longe", poursuivre l'ascension vers la montagne de Saint-Genis et prendre à droite sur la piste forestière du Château. La piste à suivre mène jusqu'au Col du Colombier, où un large carrefour se dessine dans la forêt de pins. Au Col du Colombier suivre la piste d'en face vers le Roc de l'Esculier. L'itinéraire bifurque ensuite à droite pour monter et rejoindre un sentier au bout de la piste. Celui-ci redescent un peu plus loin vers le Pas de Jubéo. Au Pas de Jubéo, continuer la descente vers la Maison Forestière à droite sans manquer sur la gauche, 100m après la barrière ONF, le petit bout de sentier qui y mène directement. A la Maisson Forestière, poursuivre à gauche pour rejoindre le sentier qui mène aux gorges du Riou. Enfin, au poteau "Saume Longe". redescendre les gorges sur le même itinéraire qu'à l'aller.

Superb hike trough a wide variety of environments (marls, forests, wooded banks, etc.) and offering heritage discoveries and possibility to swim. Take the road that goes up to the village.Cross it by walking along the main street. Then take the wide path laid out through the marls. Continue straight on: the path, leveled, gradually leads to the entrance of the Riou gorges. Turn right on an old stone bridge and cross the Riou. Continue on the opposite bank and walk along the ruins nestled at the foot of the cliff on your right. The trail begins to rise forming wide, regular switchbacks. Go up until you reach a forest track. Then turn left for about a hundred meters then left again on an other track. Walk along a yellow cistern, and continue to a directional post ("RF du Château"). Take left again along the path which gradually descends to the bottom of the gorges. Enjoy the panorama before starting the final descent. Through a tunnel dug into the side of the cliff, then thanks to a wooden bridge, get back to the crossing with the small stone bridge. Then return to the village by the route taken on the outbound hike. 

From Saint-Genis, discover the basins carved out by the clear and cool water of the Riou torrent, the thuriferous juniper forest and the splendid panorama at the top of the Révuaire. Take the road that goes up to the village.Cross it by walking along the main street.Turn right to reach the path in the black marls.  Continue along the path laid out flat, reach the bank of the Riou and go up the gorge on the right bank (leave the small stone bridge on the right).  Continue along the torrent, take the left bank (tunnel passage). After a series of switchbacks to reach a junction ("Saume Longe" post). Walk down the path on the left to the bed of the torrent. Cross the footbridge and climb through the undergrowth until you reach a track which leads you to the Maison forestière de Jubéo. Continue to the parking lot (890 m) Cross the picnic area and turn left on the path that climbs through the pines for reaching the  Taillefer  pas, also called, Col de Revuaire (1054 m). Climb the right path for reaching the summit ridge of the Revuaire (1302 m), be careful, the cliff is very steep. Go down to the Col du Taillefer by the same path. Take the path to the right which, after a bend to the left, goes crosswise (the path is not well marked, follow the cairns). Further the path bends to the left in the forest  Bois du Révuaire. Wind down a series of rocky terraces and find an old mule track well marked and bordered by dry stone walls until you reach the path of the gorges upstream of the small bridge. By the outbound route, return to the starting point.

A family hike to meet the historical and religious heritage of Serres, passing between chapels and Hebrew tomb. From the fountain, in front of the Tourist Office, turn right on the lane (Saint-Claude) to join the highs of Serres by following the Guérite path Go up the hairpin path that joins the upper part of the city and follow the road "Chemin du château".1 - Go right on Chemin de la Chapelle (explanatory panel). Pass at the foot of the Molend tower (14th century) and bypass the small cemetery of the chapel Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours. Continue on the trail passing in front of Jewish tomb (14th s), and which rises then in laces under the pines.2 - Bend the sharp Rock (842 m) to continue on the ridge of Fontarache. After some steep climbs in the rocks, you get to the Saumane pass (1031 m).3 - At the directional post at the pass, turn left and go down towards Serres. Follow the same route as the GR by a path that crosses several times the forest track. Pass in front of the Saumane chapel.4 - Continue the track. The track turns into a tarred road to join Serres.5 - Enter the village of Serres and arrive near the college, turn left to pass on the esplanade Sainte Catherine (along the school). Find the Tourist Office by continuing through the alleys and vaulted passages (soustets).

The Eysserennes canyon, is a small canyon from which the same named mountain stream comes from. It adds an enjoyable refreshing moment for the hikers during summer. It also embodies “Les Terres Noires” – The Black Lands – name given to the Savournon and surrounding marls. 

Located between  Savournon and Saint-Genis, the Forest of Beynon impresses with its huge pines. It also abounds in almost invisible species  which are very remarkable either by their rarity or their specificity. Thus, it is possible to find there: Mougeot's whitebeam, astragalus de Montpellier or vesicaria, pectinate quitch and many other species.

Le Béal du Pont ou Grand Béal is one of many waterways coming from Aujour Mountain and flowing into the valley.

The Crêtes de Revuaire and its summit (culminating at an altitude of 1306 m), overlook the municipalities of Bersac and Savournon. From this point, a magnificent view opens on the Channe valley and on the beautiful  surrounding mountains such as Chabre, Arambre or Aujour.

Located above the Jubéo car park, the Roc Taillefer stands out with its steep relief walls. This site offers about twenty climbing routes on limestone vertical sites (from 4c to 6b).

The Riou takes its source at the bottom of the valley, digging beautiful gorges. It then comes to fill the Riou lake, very popular spot among tourists and locals during hot Summer days.

The paths crossing the forest of Jubéo lead to magnificent points of view on the Cirque de Genis and on the valley of Savournon. From there,you can admire the Riou gorges and the Pic de l'Aigle  that  stands out of the landscape.

When you reach the higher up part of the first big rise of the path, there is an overview on Laragnais valley and Saint-Genis town and Corrie.

The small source of Saint-Lagier crosses the route forestière du Château (forest road of the castle) passing under a bridge. The stream then flows into the Riou-torrent, as one of its many tributaries. They feed the river by digging the gorges of the same name. They also fill the lake of Riou.

Indoors in the vaulted dining room or on the terrace, we offer simple family cuisine mixing dishes of the terroir cooked with local aromatic herbs and spices from further afield. Our menu varies following the seasons and our fancies but we favour organic and/or local produce. Everything on the menu is home-made with fresh quality products. For activities in nature : hikes (GR footpaths 91/94 - Tour des Baronnies), running, mountain biking (Chemins du Soleil), on horse. Reception in private rooms for family, couple or individual. Homemade cuisine, creative and refined, to taste organic products, grown in a garden or in the wild. Packed lunch, sport breakfast, specific menus. You can also learn about wild cuisine during discovery workshops about edibles wild plants, for a week-end or a day. Each room is autonomous (independent entrance). Le Moulin Campsite welcomes you at the heart of nature, close to the source of the river Drôme. There are several sanitary blocks and showers as well as a sheltered communal open space with tables and a fridge. The campsite has a group shelter where you can meet or take shelter in bad weather. Situated at the foot of the village built on a rocky outcrop, Camping du Moulin is close to all village activities: hiking, themed hikes, mountain bike trails, archery, tennis, climbing, children's games. You choose where you pitch.

Valdrôme in Haut-Diois is surrounded by mountains, some with lavender fields. It is a charming hilltop village at 800 m of altitude on a rocky outcrop offering one of the clearest starry sky in France. Hikers, families, groups of friends, sports clubs…everyone is welcome for a night or a longer stay at Auberge de Valdrôme. We offer 6 bedrooms accommodating 2 to 4 guests in single and/or double beds. Each bedroom is en-suite with a shower and a washbasin. There are two shared toilets on the landing.

Its Saracen tower offers a remarkable point of view on the Rosanais. This middle mountain territory offers you various possibilities. Many walks, hikes, on foot or by bike, but also discovery of the surroundings, fauna and flora. You will also be able to refresh yourself with the water of Pigerolles, at the entrance of our village, without forgetting our market of the soil of Sunday morning.
