A place to discover, particularly to learn about the old apple varieties. Open space original whose mission is the conservation, therefore the memory and the awareness to a natural and local cultural heritage : apple varieties. A short loop will teach you about a local crop still very much alive on the orchards of the villages and neighbouring hamlets. On the banks of the river Isere, located just below, a bike lane offers too a very pleasant walk.

A new concept of orchard to be discovered and experienced during a walk in this beautiful setting, located on a hillock overlooking the Isère and at the heart of a region where traditional orchards, combining grasslands and fruit trees, are still a regular feature. The site combines freshly planted orchards, a nursery, a composting area, a vineyard and an apiary, scattered across a large area where natural elements important to orchard life have been preserved: hedges and natural meadows. A pathway punctuated by explanatory panels allows visitors to discover the site and the history of the fruit-growing civilization that has left its mark on the valley, while drawing attention to the remarkable ecosystem of traditional orchards. There are plenty of rest areas to enjoy the scenery and taste this vast space, dedicated to the rebirth of orchards.

From Landry's church, take the path which climbs on the right. The path climbs sometimes by crossing the road until "Le Martorey". You will pass by the hamlet of "La Vinerie".

The Peisey-Nancroix valley, with its torrent winding through larch forests, is one of the most beautiful entrances to the Parc de la Vanoise. This ascent offers magnificent views, and is bounded from Landry to Rosuel.

Play the peddler of yesteryear by following one of the oldest mule tracks in the valley. The ascent to the hamlet of Ragairon reveals, in a forest landscape, beautiful traditional alpine houses and meadows full of flowers. The journey through time begins in Landry. This typical village is home to a jewel of Baroque art. Here you can admire the sublime bulbous bell tower of the church which, like all churches built on a promontory, bears the name of Saint-Michel. Then follow in the footsteps of the GR5, before reaching the start of the tour. You will go through several authentic villages, including Martorey and its superb listed column house, following one of the oldest mule tracks in the valley. In the past, peddlers used these routes to transport goods. Now you carry your own picnic! Refresh yourself at the bend in the Charbonnet stream before arriving at Ragairon, which signals its presence with its only chalet and mountain pasture stable. Stop to contemplate the clear view and watch the bees gathering flowers in the mountains. Another must-see stop before returning: the hamlet of Les Charmettes where it is not unusual to see cows grazing. This little village is strongly shaped by the slope: it extends up an elevation gain of 2,000 metres, with the lowest point lying at around 800m and the highest point of the village reaching 2,900m. It measures 17sq km and is home to 504 inhabitants. The present-day church was rebuilt between 1681 and 1686 where an old, and much smaller, church once stood. The Baroque décor inside would undergo significant renovations at the end of the 19th century, updating it to the taste of the day: the neoclassical style.Open during religious services.

Don’t miss out on this highly original art gallery on the Versant du Soleil, located above the Tarentaise Valley facing the Vanoise Massif. This hamlet contains a somewhat unusual red ochre edifice which is actually a former farmhouse dating back to the 19th century and decked out to resemble a château. It was once the property of the Jarre family, one of Le Versant’s biggest landowners. It is now privately owned.The balcony on its façade opened onto a hay barn. The windows had no frames and were left open to provide ventilation. The ground floor was composed of cellars and spacious stables, and housed the servants' families, who lived with the cows A member of the Jarre family who became an abbé and member of King Victor Emmanuel II’s court spent a few years in Turin and drew inspiration from the city’s palaces when he built the farmhouse.

The clay used to make the bricks of this oven is believed to have come from drifts or sedimentation. Brick buildings are uncommon in this region, which tends to give precedence to stone and timber. The latter would likely have been in use until the 19th century.

1,250m up, on the Versant du Soleil (sunny side) ledge, this hamlet is a prime viewing spot for looking out over the ski areas of Les Arcs, Montchavin-les-Coches, La Plagne, La Rosière, the Col de la Madeleine and Mont Pourri.St Antoine's Chapel, dating back to 1702, can be found here. Outside, you can admire the quadrangular pinnacle crowning it. Then step inside to see a Baroque altarpiece featuring typical iconography. The chapel lies along the "Chemins du Baroque" sightseeing trail.

The Isère passes through Landry village. This beautiful river is the right place for rafting, hydrospeed, stand-up paddle ou canoë-raft fans and fishermen.

Between Grand Gondon and Landry, head out along the Sentier des vergers (orchards' trail), specifically between the Saint-Pantaléon and La Ballastière orchards. Fruit trees have been grown in Tarentaise for centuries, and the "meadow-orchard" tradition enabled a unique combination between fruit and livestock grazing. Apples and pears were grown near hamlets where the individual plots, with four or five trees in each, grouped together to form the patchwork "meadow-orchard" landscape where grass and fruit were nurtured side by side. The fruit was harvested in early October, before the cowherds and cows came back down from the highland pastures and montagnettes, small seasonal settlements. Once the cows were back, they could graze without the risk of choking on a fallen fruit. This system was also a natural way of fertilising the soil. The orchards were thus all planted in the open field with fairly high branches so as to allow the herds to roam around freely.

A new type of orchard well worth exploring and experiencing on a tour of this scenic complex, located on a hillock overlooking the River Isère. Built in the mid 17th century, the chapel is dedicated to St Gratus, Bishop of Aosta, who is the patron saint of harvests. It does not have an altarpiece, but boasts a central painting featuring several patron saints. The chapel is often closed, but you can still glimpse the interior through two small windows.

The Auberge Le Valezan is a mountain inn in the heart of the village of Valezan, perched 1200m above sea level on the south-facing side of the Tarentaise valley. The gîte takes up to 18 people in two dormitories with bunkbeds that sleep 8 and 10 people. Guests have access to: * a shared shower room: washbasin, showers, toilet, * a shared lounge room with an equipped kitchen and a balcony. You can eat in the restaurant of the Auberge (fixed menu like in a refuge).

Alpine chalet (87m²) fully renovated, authentic and comfortable for up to 8 people. One private parking area in front of the house and public parking just 100m. Open only from May to September. On the ground floor, you'll discover a room with 4 single beds, a shower room with shower, washbasin and separate toilets. On the 1st floor, with direct access to the terrace, a large bright living space comprising a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and lounge area. On the mezzanine, you'll find 4 single beds and stunning views of the mountains. The main heating for the chalet is from a wood-burning stove in the living room. Thanks to a solar panel, you can enjoy electric light in every room of the chalet. The chalet does NOT have any electrical sockets. So, when you need to recharge your electrical devices, there are two solutions: use the battery in your car, or come to the city hall and leave them with us while you do the shopping or enjoy a stroll. Bed linen: Pillows and blankets are provided and mattresses protected by a disposable fitted sheet. All you have bring is your own sheet or a sleeping bag. The kitchen: Gas stove with 4 hotplates, oven, refrigerator with freezer and barbecue on the terrace, plus crockery and cooking utensils. On the middle floor, there's a cellar where you can keep cold liquids, fruit and vegetables. You've got everything here that you need to have a wonderful time! In the living room and dining area, there's a large table and two comfy sofas where you can stretch out and relax.

The gite "Pollen" is a holiday cottage in the heart of the village of Granier (Tarentaise/Beaufortain). It is an old mountain building, completely renovated, facing south and with a breathtaking view of the Vanoise glaciers.
