Producer of Cider, Pommeau de Normandie and Calvados AOC Pays d'Auge in Normandy. We invite you to discover the products from our orchards just outside Pont l'Evêque, in the heart of the Pays d'Auge. For more than 20 years, Michel Bréavoine and his team have concentrated their unique know-how on extracting the best from each harvest, and thus offering a high-quality cider production year after year. All the products presented to you are available for tasting in the tasting room on the estate, where they are produced and processed from apple to bottle. The apples are harvested by variety on the 40-hectare estate. Once harvested, they are sorted, washed and grated. Any apples showing defects are removed by human intervention. Finally, the apples are pressed using a pneumatic membrane press in long cycles, allowing a slow pressing that gives the must exceptional aromas. The must is then transferred to different vats to allow the cider to rest and ferment. The ciders are then blended and bottled to ensure consistency of production throughout the year. The apple juice is made in less than 24 hours. As soon as it is pressed, the apple juice is filtered, pasteurised and bottled hot to avoid any risk of fermentation. When the harvest is abundant, the quantity of apples allows us to distil our cider in order to produce our calvados.

The Pont-L’Évêque washhouse, built in 1867, was restored a few years ago. It is the only washhouse in the parish that can still be seen today. At one time, there were around forty washhouses, both public and private, within the parish. This washhouse consists of a rectangular concrete basin – which no longer holds water – with washing boards on all four sides. The wooden framework supports the roof. Thanks to its architecture and roof, this washhouse is completely unique. Indeed, it is the only washhouse in the Community of Communes comprising twenty posts, resting on concrete and brick plinths. The central posts support the roof opening, known as an ‘impluvium’. Just like the Surville washhouse, this roof design allows rainwater to be collected in the basin. Furthermore, the washhouse was almost certainly enclosed by shutters. Traces on the posts bear witness to this. In this way, the washerwomen were protected from the elements. As the washhouse was fed by the River Yvie, channels were used to carry the water to the basin. During your visit, you simply cannot miss this unique structure, remarkable for both its originality and its architecture. The washhouse is accessible on foot, by bike and by car (car park nearby). The “Joyeuse Prison”, the Dominican Convent and Saint-Michel Church are just a short walk away.
