Hiking trail "The Chapel of Notre-Dame du Pont". The interior walls of the Chapel of Notre-Dame du Pont are covered with magnificent frescoes from the 12th, 13th and 15th centuries. On the part of the path along the Rance, the river is superb, strewn with rocks and pebbles. Hiking trail "La Croix del fût". The village is situated in a granite country, with meadows and crops alternating with wooded areas. In the hamlets of Belaubre and Enfour, you will discover the traditional habitat with its red-tiled houses, with outside staircases leading to the wooden balcony facing south, topped by the plancadou where corn and chestnuts used to dry. On arrival, you will walk along the pond where the legend of the village bells still hangs in the air, on which, one mysterious day, the waters closed in. Maurs is the southern version of Auvergne. It has a lilting accent and the town's appearance is more akin to its neighbours in Lot or Aveyron than to the other Cantal towns. It's not called the Little Nice of Cantal for nothing... The town is squeezed around the Abbey of St. Caesarius, a 14th century gothic vessel, and has retained the almost perfect circular shape of its ramparts. The abbey church contains the reliquary bust of Caesarius, a masterpiece of 12th century goldsmith's art, as well as a collection of beautiful wooden statues and sculpted stalls, unique in Auvergne. Ruins of the estate of Naucaze built from the 12th to the 17th century. The castle is currently being restored. It still has a 12th century tower which is the oldest architectural element. Looted and burnt down in 1792, and visible from road D133.

In a protected environment, this charming and characterful place, classified as a sensitive natural area, lends itself to relaxation. The Moulin du Fau estate consists of approximately 7 hectares of land located on the banks of the Rance, about 1 km from the centre of Maurs. This site includes an old grain mill and a barn, a complex network of feeder and diversion canals, a fish pond and meadows. It's very easy to walk around the pond (about 1 km).

The heart of the Châtaigneraie beats to the rhythm of the River Rance. It serves as a backdrop for the many cyclists who take the cycle route between Maurs and Marcolès, which is part of the Grande Traversée du Volcan à Vélo (“Crossing the Volcano”) or GT2V. This route follows the winding course of the river and offers plenty of coolness in summer. Its history has been shaped by mills, railways and hydroelectricity.

As in many Châtaigneraie villages, Le Trioulou has a pretty church and a picturesque castle with turrets. But there's something, or rather someone, you won't find anywhere else: Mélia the bee!

Entraygues Castle dates back to the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Various elements are included in the historic-monuments register such as the walls and roofs, beautiful carved doors, French painted ceilings, wallpapers... Outside, free visit of the fancy garden.

Saint-Constant and Fournoulès have been a single commune since 2016. Yet two very different atmospheres prevail: Saint-Constant looks a little like Aveyron, while Fournoulès has a more mountainous atmosphere.

The Chapelle Notre Dame du Pont, nestled in a green setting on the banks of the Rance, in the commune of Leynhac, dates back to the 12th century. The chapel contains magnificent frescoes from the 13th - 15th centuries, as well as a 17th-century gilded Virgin Mary. A place of in the heart of the Châtaigneraie. L'Association Marguerite & Joseph Clauzet des amis de la Chapelle du Pont will show you around the chapel and tell you its history on Thursday throughout the summer.

We're not talking about "galloping" demography yet, but it's clear that Parlan attracts many new inhabitants. Visitors, for their part, would be wrong to gallop along the village's 23 km of trails, so attractive is the surrounding countryside.
