This circuit is mostly on a limestone soil, many dry stone walls still exist. The villages crossed are almost always built with the stones extracted near these.

The park passes through the small enclave of "groie" lands of the Civraisien en Poitou and also intermittently borders the Bouleure, a tributary of the Clain.

By taking this circuit, you will enjoy the red lands. A plateau common to three departments: Deux-Sèvres, Vienne and Charentes. These rich soils, favorable to the growth of chestnut trees and agricultural crops, shape a bocage landscape.

The circuit "Serinettes et châtaigniers" owes its name to two representative plants of the two communes of Linazay and Champagné-Le-Sec. The "serinettes" are small star thistles that used to grow on the poor lands of Linazay and the chestnut trees are present in abundance in the woods of Champagné-Le-Sec.

Departure : Church of Civray The origin of the name of this circuit is quite simple: indeed, it links the communes of Saint Macoux, Saint Saviol and Saint Pierre d'Exideuil. It follows the river Charente "the most beautiful stream of the kingdom" according to François 1er. You can discover along this path a beautiful architectural heritage such as the castle of Léray, the castle of l' Etang built on a dry pond, the garden of Rocaille of Saint-Saviol or the church-saint-pierre of Saint Pierre d'Exideuil.

This route, which passes through the communes of Savigné and Civray along the Charente, was so named because the writer André Theuriet (1833-1907) had the opportunity, during his youth in Civray, to take part of it during his walks.

This hike will lead you through the shadows of its woods and to the coolness provided by the Clain river which has carved out large valleys. The woods follow one another and give way to more open areas where rapeseed cultivation prevails. You will enjoy the diversity of the landscapes of a hilly territory, revealing its charms along the kilometers.

This hike will take you along the paths that were once used by the farmers of our corner of Poitou. You will walk between the cereal fields and, if you make this hike in April/May, you will be intoxicated by the honey perfume of the colza in flower.

The penon is the pungent envelope that surrounds the chestnut, which is separated from it only when it is ripe. The red soil with chestnut trees and flint determines the landscape of St Romain and the neighboring villages.

This circuit takes you through the quiet valley of the river Charente, characterized by its calm and freshness offering an ideal setting for hiking. You will discover the many riches of this river as well as numerous examples of the life of the past thanks to a small built heritage still very present (water mills, wash houses, bridges, lime kilns...). A pond (Saint-Macoux), woods, meadows will also be part of the tour...

Located in the heart of the flowery village, in the south of the Vienne, the Saint-Léger church dates from the 12th century. The multiple sarcophagi in front of the western facade seem to demonstrate the presence of a building from the High Middle Ages. The church has a roof made of lauzes (flat stones) and wall paintings dating from the XIIIth century and restored in the XVth and XVIth centuries with themes such as Saint Jacques le Majeur, the Piéta, the miracle of Saint Eloi, the Virgin with the child breastfeeding, the Christ in glory and the evangelists.. The monument is composed of a nave with a single vessel, three bays and a choir formed by a semicircular apse in front of which we can see an altarpiece. The church has been classified as a historical monument since 1985.

The Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre was built at the end of the 11th century. Its long and narrow nave is decorated with a cornice with sculpted modillions. It stands in the center of the old cemetery where one can observe surprising trestle tombs, arranged like dolmens. The portal dates from the end of the 11th century. An 18th century mural painting represents the symbol of the Holy Spirit, surrounded by cherubs. Not to be missed: the semi-circular apse and its modillions with obscene subjects Those who are interested in religious architecture can also discover the Saint-Nicolas de Civray church nearby.

In Linazay in the south of the Vienne, take the time to take the time! Keep your eyes wide open and stroll through this 1.2 hectare regular topiary garden created in 1980. The gardeners welcome you to discover the labyrinth, the green theater, the collection of cacti and dalhias, the permaculture vegetable garden.
