Ideal for family, small bike, wheelchair. The Jacques Barrouillet sports trail was inaugurated in November 2012. It offers three marked circuits; the blue one is a privileged place to walk without difficulties, all flat, well equipped and away from the traffic. It takes place in a magnificent wood of pedunculate oaks. These oaks can be recognised by their short-stalked leaves and their elongated acorns, attached to the branch by a long stalk.

Discover the history and heritage of Mourenx, a new town. From the Belvedere, admire the panorama of this city, born of the incredible energy of the pioneers who made its history. Inaugurated on March 20, 2010, this hiking trail criss-crosses the town of Mourenx. With a length of 4.6 km, you will discover the architecture of the city and its history 5 stations present the birth and evolution of this new town whose existence is closely linked to the Lacq industrial basin. Audio guides are also available to complete your tour. They will show you the construction of the town through videos and testimonies from archives and today. To be collected free of charge from the Tourist Office.

This interpretive trail is a peaceful and charming island, completely isolated from the large Lacq industrial complex. To discover Lendresse, simply follow the 16 signs around the town hall and along the footpath, which is also a fitness trail. The path along the banks of the Gave de Pau is fragile and exposed to flooding. It's still rustic, with gravel in places, but it's wide, well-marked, made of hard earth and level.

A hilly itinerary between hillsides to enjoy the panoramas, and wild valleys to appreciate the freshness of the undergrowth, and listen to the rustle of the streams.

This stage promises great surprises, with the discovery of the Béarn nature, a beautiful mix of forest and agricultural areas, the passage to Sauvelade Abbey and the crossing of the bastioned city of Navarrenx.

A hike around Arthez-de-Béarn between plains and hillsides, sometimes in the forest or in the middle of crops, to discover three charming chapels: The chapel of Caubin, the chapel of Cagnes and the chapel N'Haux.

This stage of the Way of Saint James is marked by the long descent of the hill of Arthez and the crossing of the Gave de Pau, a sign that the Pyrenees are getting closer.

Monein is characterized by its double face, a historical heart and rural districts, spread over 8000 ha. The town center of Monein has the largest Gothic church in Bearn, the church of Saint-Girons. It is impressive by the size of its bell tower and unique by its asymmetrical frame with double hull of reversed ship. In the past, the wine of Jurançon was called the wine of Monein. One could almost say that Monein is the stronghold of the Jurançon vineyard. Moreover, 60% of the production of Jurançon is made in Monein. It is thus the privileged place to go to meet the wine growers. The interpretation path, marked out with 5 panels, will lead you to the discovery of the history of Monein. From the Casterasses, you can imagine the view that the Viscounts of Bearn had from the top of their keep.

Magnificent sporting loop through the vineyards of Jurançon. This varied itinerary passes through pleasant villages and overhangs the hillsides offering exceptional views of the mountains and the plain. The climbs are as steep as the landscapes, and the whole route requires a good level of fitness!

The tour of the Doazon lake is a pleasant walk without difficulty that can be done with the whole family. All along the way, the view of the lake with the sky reflected in it, gives nice perspectives. At the bend in the path, some water birds will enliven your walk.

Navarrenx is a 16th century walled town, ideally situated in the heart of the Béarn des Gaves region (Gave being a name given to Pyrenean mountain streams), at equal distance from the Pyrenean range, from Pau and Bayonne. Its particularity is its Greek cross plan and it is surmounted by a dome which is quite unusual in Béarn. The church has the simplicity that characterizes all Cistercian buildings.

Viellesegure, a small typical Béarn village, is on the road to Navarrenx, close to Sauvelade and the Way of St. James. The bastide was founded in 1339 on a transhumance route, near a castle of the Viscount of Béarn, which was quickly transformed into a fortress (now destroyed). One of the largest bastide squares in Béarn. The agricultural vocation still exists today, a variety of houses from the 17th to the 19th centuries. Near the square, castle of the lords of Vianne (17th century).

This restaurant and hotel is located in Lacq, a small village halfway between Pau and Orthez and is in the heart of the industrial complex, facing the factories. The food is homemade using local products. There is a fast service option, ideal for those on business. The Crazy Canard restaurant is in Mourenx, a new town with modernist architecture, on the outskirts of the town heading towards Monein. The restaurant is run by a Franco / Irish duo, Stéphane and Liza. Stéphane has worked in numerous Michelin starred restaurants and many of the products on offer, smoked salmon, foie gras etc are home made. Try the duck and foie gras spring roll, you won’t be disappointed! The restaurant also offers group packages and an outside catering service, ideal for family occasions.

In Lacq, between Orthez and Monein, the Panacau restaurant cultivates a love of fresh, local, seasonal produce. Every day you can choose from a selection of starters, main courses and desserts on the slate, leaving plenty of room for the chefs' creativity. Come and taste gourmet, local and seasonal cuisine. Béarn duck, Monein peaches, Landes chicken, local cheeses... are regularly featured.

In Sauvelade a small Béarnais village on the Puy pilgrim route to Compostella. This bistro is close to the cistercian abbey. Jeff and Lili have opened this small bistro in a traditional Béarnais building offering overnight accommodation, gite d'étape. The food is home-made and regional: mushroom omelettes in season, garden produce, tapas, cold meats, local cheeses and salads. For pilgrims who are in a hurry to get back on the road there is a "fast" menu with a snack which you can eat in or take away. All produce is organic, locally grown or from equitable commerce and the fruit juices are made with fruit straight from the orchard.

The Lo Tira Cap inn is a friendly, intergenerational place located in Lahourcade between Orthez and Monein. More than 70 wine references to taste on site or take away, from many of France's rich vineyard appellations, and traditional dishes to share or tapas concocted by experienced chef Dany. After studying cookery in the Landes region of France, Alexis was lucky enough to join the team at Moulin de Poustagnacq in Saint-Paul-Lès-Dax, then at Restaurant des Voisins in Salies-de-Béarn. He then had the privilege of joining chef Etchebest's brigade for 3 years, during which he was able to progress and hold a number of different positions. The call of the region was too strong, so he returned to the country with a stint at Stéphane Carrade's Maison Ruffet. With his luggage full, Alexis is now setting up his own private chef business to come and cook in your home!

Pardies a small Béarnais village near to the Jurançon vineyards and the industrial complex. The restaurant is in the centre of the village opposite the church. Tony and Lydie will give you a warm family welcome hand-in-hand with regional food in the best Béarnais tradition. Meals are generous and based on local fresh produce. Specialities: grilled breast of duck in a honey sauce, filet mignon of pork in Jurançon and home-made desserts.
