The Loue is a tributary of the Isle which flows in a valley that can take on the appearance of a gorge. The proposed route allows you to go down to the river either by making a return trip from Ganduras, or by going out on the left bank by the hamlet of Gautherie and enjoying a beautiful view of the hamlet of Essendieras, which is home to a rich history that begins in the center of the village with a Romanesque church with a bell tower-wall, overlooking a square surrounded by stone houses. Going down to the river, a good fountain welcomed the processions coming from the church, to sprinkle themselves and make ablutions. Its virtues were numerous, and it could calm pains or favour a marriage. A little further on, the remains of a Gallic wall dating from 600 or 500 BC appear.

This fortress was built in the eleventh century, and modified during the sixteenth century. With the only double square donjon of the Périgord, it also has been softened by the addition of a Renaissance châtelet. It has known tragic moments (besieged twice by Richard the Lionheart), and wonderful moments having being described in the delicate poetry of Giraut de Bornelh, one of the greatest of the troubadours, according to Dante. Come and feel the last echoes of love and furor in this place emblematic of the Middle Age period in Périgord. The public area is accessible for free all year round: you can stroll freely along the ramparts and in the courtyard, admire the panorama of the Loue valley, and discover art exhibitions from June to October. From the vegetable garden to your plate! Seasonal fruit and vegetables. Convinced of the need to eat better, and in love with Nature, we wanted to produce good vegetables, while respecting biodiversity. At Potager de la Vergne, we favor natural treatments for the non-intensive production of our seasonal vegetables. Produce is picked up on the day of sale, or the evening before. Sales at the farm on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9am to 12pm, and Thursdays from 5pm to 7pm, to order.

Our small vegetable farm is certified in Organic Agriculture. We produce various vegetables, small fruits and nuts. We raise, in full open air, 30 laying hens that we move on the farm. We transform a part of our production into jams, artisanal syrups, coulis, fruits in syrup, dehydrated products, walnut oil, gazpacho, ... and many other recipes which are created according to the ideas and the availability! The preservation of our soil and of the life which composes it are one of our priorities, that's why we practice a non-mechanized agriculture inspired by the technique of the MSV (Vegetable growing on living soil). Four Breton friends, from Rennes to be precise, decided to put down their suitcases, knife and shaker cases as well as their billigs in Anlhiac, at the bar restaurant "La Crémaillère". This young and dynamic team from the restaurant and bar business has brought novelty between local products, cuisine ripaille, specialties of Brittany with buckwheat pancakes and wheat pancakes prepared to order as well as elaborate cocktails with multiple colors and flavors. Brimming with imagination and a touch of madness, La Crémaillère has also become playful with its many board games available at any time of the day and evening.
