In the heart of the Haute-Vienne, in Limousin, Mailhac-sur-Benaize proposes a hike starting from its village and its church. The path from the lily of the valley to the forges leads the hiker to the discovery of the local natural and architectural heritage. On the way you can enjoy a view on the pond of Mondon. Built in an old farmhouse, this large and very independent gite is located on a 6 000 m² lawn. It invites you to a zen stay in the middle of nature and proposes, on the spot, a swimming pool under cover, heated (open from April to November, treated with salt). Bicycles are at your disposal to go by small roads to visit the ornithological reserve of Murat and the Natural Park of the Brenne and its myriad of ponds.

Le Puy Saint Jean is the hamlet that Patrice and Catherine chose some thirty years ago to return to farming after selling the family farm in Creuse. Here, they built a new life for themselves and their family. Now retired, they welcome their grandchildren for vacations and have chosen to bring their grandparents' house back to life. On site, they have installed a very large above-ground swimming pool (10m x 5m, salt water, water renewed every summer) which they share with the gîte guests. Set in a lovely shady garden, the pool offers a breathtaking view over the countryside. Fishing is possible in their private pond 500 m from the gîte.

We renovated the gîte at the end of 2022 with all the necessary comforts, retaining some of the original features but adapting some modern ones: air conditioning, mosquito nets on the windows, modern electric fire for the autumn/winter months. We have an ecological wood-fired jacuzzi which is included for stays of 7 nights or more, and extra for short stays, reserved exclusively for our guests. You can relax with a complimentary bottle of bubbly while gazing at the stars. For your entertainment: large garden with deckchairs, table tennis, badminton, darts and archery. If you'd like to leave your car at home, there's a secure garage for your bikes or car.

In the heart of the small village of Saint Léger Magnazeix, Martine has converted this pretty little village house, which opens onto a terrace and pleasant enclosed garden at the rear. Adjoining her own house, it took 5 years of renovation, painting and decorating for her to transform it into a comfortable vacation home. Very involved in local activities and culture, she will be delighted to show you around the area where she has come to spend a peaceful retirement.

The semi-shaded campsite is located on the shores of a 15-hectare lake in a lush, wooded setting, right next to a leisure center offering games, a tennis court, mini-golf, pedal boats, a bar/restaurant and an aqualudic pool with slide. The Limousin countryside reveals its natural treasures: Pot Bouillant, the Bras and Bouéry dolmens, the Benaize valley. Pool reserved for campers in the mornings and open to the public in the afternoons.

The chambre d'hôtes is located in the heart of the countryside, and the owners have set it up as a small nature reserve. The accommodation comprises a single room with king-size bed, kitchenette, shower and toilet. Nature and green spaces are our passion. On-site leisure facilities: billiards, table tennis, art materials, yoga mats and picnic items are available. There is a single bed supplement of 15? per stay.

Classified as a Natura 2000 site, Etang de Murat is located in the communes of Saint Léger-Magnazeix and Lussac les Eglises, in the north-central part of the Haute-Vienne department, around 50 kilometers from Limoges. The commune of Lussac-les-Eglises borders the entire northeastern bank for over a kilometer (where the ornithological observatory is located). A man-made lake built on the Asse river, it is one of the largest and oldest ponds in the Haute-Vienne department. Built between 1474 and 1534, the 30-hectare Etang de Murat has long been recognized by naturalists for its ecological richness (water chestnut, litorelle des lacs, kite lucane, marsh copper...). Depending on the season, you can pick apples, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, blueberries, pears and plums. Would you like to sample these delicious products? The parish church is the former church of the priory-cure depending on the abbey of Saint Augustin de Limoges. The other buildings were sold as national property during the Revolution. The modest and sober building is composed of a single nave and a flat chevet with triplet. The nave, originally framed, received a vault on ribbed crosses in the Gothic period. The bell tower covered with slate is also later. While the wall is made of a rather coarse stone, the 15th century north portal is made of a fine-grained limestone that is easy to carve. The moldings on the jambs and the lintel brace are the work of an artist from the Gothic period Registered as a Historic Monument in 1937 (north portal). The key to the church is available at the town hall in the morning and at the media library in the afternoon.

Brigueil-le-Chantre is located on the border of Poitou, Limousin and Berry. The church of Saint-Hilaire was built in the 12th century on a promontory overlooking the valley of the Asse. It originally depended on the diocese of Limoges and was given in 1185 to the collegiate church of Le Dorat. The cantor of this collegiate church, one of the most important persons of the college of canons, was the beneficiary of this parish. This influence gave the current name to the commune. Built in the 12th century, the Romanesque church has been reworked over the centuries. Romanesque and Gothic mural paintings, of very beautiful workmanship, were recently discovered. It was registered as a Historic Monument in 1937. A heritage desk installed at the entrance will give you information on this monument.
