Savigny Abbey has been completely restored to its former glory, and is now open to visitors, who can follow an interpretive trail introducing the history of the site, the ruins and the surrounding landscape. Our family distillery, founded in 1937, is located a few kilometers from Mont-Saint-Michel, in Normandy, in the heart of the AOC Calvados region. We harvest over forty varieties of cider apples and pears just a few kilometers from our distillery, and control our entire production process: from the natural fermentation of our ciders, through distillation in our 3 copper stills, to aging in our French oak barrels. Our craft is first and foremost one of tradition, love and patience, but we also attach great importance to innovation to give our Calvados its unique character. The tour takes in our distillery and ageing cellars, where we explain to visitors the secrets behind the making of our Calvados. The tour continues with a tasting of 3 products: calvados, pommeau, apple liqueur or gin. Not available for school groups.

In 1475, King Louis XI founded the parish of Conception Notre-Dame in Passais. It already existed as a place of prayer. In 1852 a chapel was built to honour Notre Dame after a miraculous healing. A number of healings occurred and pilgrims converged to the site, with a second chapel being built in 1857. A third chapel was erected between 1924-1927, decorated by a painter from Mantilly, a near town. It relates the Passais history, of its founding by the evangelist monks until the representation of priests and bishops in XX century.

In the town centre, in a former monastery of the 1920's, La Verrière, Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët museum, combines the charm of the past with modern means to take on a new look, each season, to match the exhibitions staged. 2009 will be dedicated to flowers between East and West.

Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët is a town in the heart of the Mont Saint-Michel Bay region. It lies at the crossroads between Normandy, Brittany and Maine, hence the name "crossroads of the 3 provinces".
