Then, by chance of transmission, the title of Hambye is found in those of the princes of Monaco... A beautiful walk in the heart of the bocage, where water is omnipresent. A circuit punctuated with small heritage and stream jumps ... before arriving at the jewel of Hambye Abbey. Allow some time to visit it before returning to the town of Hambye Departure : Hambye, Place Jeanne Paisnel, on the D58 Remarkable points on the stroll : 1 - Start at Jeanne Paisnel Place, Lady of Hambye (1402-1447), wife of Louis d'Estouteville hero of Mont-Saint-Michel. She offered the castle of Tourville to the Ravalets. 2 - The Yvée Hotel has beautiful buildings built between the 15th and 19th centuries around Hambye, witnesses of the wealth of the region over the centuries. 3 - The magnificent natural site of Mauny and its old quarries. 4 - The Mauny Mill is an opportunity to evoke the many mills and factories set up for the manufacture of paper throughout the Sienna Valley in the 19th century. 5 - Beautiful church of La Haye Comtesse and its beautiful panorama, before joining the beautiful natural site of the Hambyotte valley. 6 - Hambye Abbey was founded in the 12th century by Guillaume Paisnel, Lord of Hambye. The magnificent abbey is sober and elegant, following the precepts of rigour and austerity of the Benedictine order, which disappeared here in the 18th century. Today, in addition to the beauty of the architecture, the visit allows you to discover antique furniture, tapestries, typical painted canvases... Remarkable points in the vicinity : In Hambye : Remains of the Paynel's castle: remains of the enclosure, of the square keep and of a circular tower. Parish church from the 15th century, rebuilt in the 19th century: portal of the former church, square bell tower topped by a dome, old statues, high altar at the end of the 17th century and a vast painted altarpiece. Chapel of Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur dating from the 19th century, in the cemetery. Andouillerie de la Vallée de Sienne, Gavray, to discover the making of the andouille de Vire in the purest tradition, with its manual assembly and its authentic smokehouses. The site of the Ducal Castle, Gavray, site of an old imposing medieval fortress located at the top of a hill with steep sides. Panorama which dominates the valleys of the Sienne and the Bérence. The district of La Planche, Gavray, whose name refers to the numerous wooden bridges over the Bérence to go from Gavray bourg to Gavray village.

Discover contemporary bells and copper pieces. 2- Notre-Dame de la Jaunisse fountain in Fleury 3- Champrepus zoo: Champrepus zoo features some 50 species in 5 main themes: savannah, Madagascar, tropical area, exotic pets and mini-farm. 4- The Guibel viaduct: Built in 1869, under Napoleon III, to mark the commissioning of the Paris-Granville line. 98.5 m long and 22.5 m high, it spans the Airou valley. This bucolic site also features a picnic area. 5- Beauchamps chapel: You pass through the old village of Beauchamps, whose 11th-century church was destroyed by a lightning strike in the 19th century. Only the small south chapel remains in the cemetery. Beautiful old houses with round arches and statues of the Virgin Mary line the route to Beauchamps. Come and discover them! 7- Château de Beauchamps: On your left, high up on the hill, are the remains of the medieval Château de Beauchamps, whose first owner, Hugues de Beauchamps, was a companion of William the Conqueror. This castle is the birthplace of the Anglo-Norman lineage of the Beauchamps, who became Earls of Warwick or Worcester, one of the oldest counties in the peerage of England. You're standing on a promontory overlooking the River Airou, facing Dragueville to the north. 8- The ruins of the Château du Ducal in Gavray: The Château du Ducal site offers a fascinating tour of the remains of this ancient medieval fortress, with panels telling the story of the region. Overlooking the Sienne River, at the crossroads of the routes to Mont Saint-Michel and Brittany, it's a strategic point and a great vantage point. Worth a detour. 9- The Sienne at Gavray: In Gavray, along the Sienne, there were numerous mills and paper factories in the 19th century. You'll follow its course, passing the Moulin Fouleur, the Moulin à papier, and more. The Sienne is a river that flows into the sea at Le Havre de Regnéville, 25 km away. 10- Le moulin Mauny: This is an opportunity to learn about the many paper mills and factories that sprang up all along the Sienna Valley in the 19th century. 11- Sainte Trinité church in Hambye: Dedicated to the Holy Trinity in the late 19th century, it was consecrated in 1899 by Mgr Guérard, Bishop of Coutances and Avranches. The church has a neo-Romanesque basilica layout, with a nave in the center, aisles to the north and south, and a choir forming a circular apse to the east. Two types of stone were used for the exterior construction: pudding stone and granite. Inside, frescoes painted in 1935 by Charles Rocher - known as de Gérigné.

Big Flower Festival in August. 8- The Lucerne Abbey: Founded in 1143 and built in the hollow of the Thar valley, the Abbey was restored in the 15th and 17th centuries. It is of Romanesque style, of Cistercian spirit by their sobriety and their rigor. The ensemble is dominated by an Anglo-Norman tower which heralds the Gothic architecture. 9- The castle of St Pierre Langers: We can notice on the lawn of the castle, the oak Plaids several times centenary. It is under this venerable tree that the lord of the place made justice. The beautiful residence was transformed many times since the castle with motte of the high Middle Ages until the rich manor with the classical style which one can see currently. 10- The Menhir of Vaumoisson : The Menhir of Vaumoisson, or "Devil's Stone". Satan, in charge of this block taken in Chausey, carried it for the construction of the Pont-au-Bault. He was climbing the gable when he saw a priest. He then let his burden fall. His 5 claws remained imprinted in the granite.
